Get Back Up.

A creative writing project.

As the grey sky shifted about rather slowly, silence is upon the land. Suddenly, a body hits the ground. A feminine figure wore bright, white robes hemmed with elegant gold, though they had been battered, bloodied, and cut, signifying much hardship.

"Stay down, filth" a heavy, coarse, male voice protruded through the silence. As the silence then returned, the woman grunted in pain, her fair visage and bright green eyes showed pain as she looked up at her aggressor. A man clad in heavy leather armor and a large bastard sword in his hand.

She clenched her fists and pushed herself up, letting out quiet whimpers of pain as she slowly, but surely, regained her footing.

She stood to match his gaze, a trickle of blood fell from her lips as she tiredly and painfully stared up at him.

"Darkness...cannot...beat... the light," she said with wavered breathing. She clenched her saber weakly, raising it only when the man brought up his own sword and subsequently down upon her, smacking away the blade and sending it clattering to the stony ground, followed by another loud thump and cry in pain as the woman hit the ground again.

The man walked closer and pointed his sword at her as she laid upon the cold, hard ground "I'll say it again. Stay. Down." He said darkly, evil and darkness seemed to pour from his mouth with each syllable.

She looked up, laying in her back as she did. She shook her head, now convinced that she was indeed crazy for fighting against this. She put her elbows behind her and began pushing. Pain shot through every fiber of her being as she pushed, blood began to flow from her forehead as well as her lips as she used every single strand of muscle to push herself up.

She would not be beaten. She would not be pushed down. She would not stay. Down.

As she used every piece of strength to force her weight upwards, the man and his soldiers gasped barely audibly as they witnessed the sheer physical strength possessed by this woman.

She gritted her teeth hard as she grunted loudly in pain, red hot searing pain eviscerated her insides. But slowly. Steadily. She rose. Again, she rose.

She shot the man a glance, gripping her saber as tightly as her hands would allow, "You...cannot...beat. The Light" she said again.

The man glared at her in both awe and anger. He gripped his sword in both hands and ran at her with the ferocity and strength of a bull, "I SAID STAY DOWN DAMN IT!" he yelled a blood-curdling cry as he ran towards her.

She stared him down. Watching his movements as he approached. He was quite literally a mountain as he stampedes towards her much smaller countenance.

As he reared back and brought down the sword upon her, she moved in one final motion, determined through sheer force of her will to stop this mountain of a man.

Searing pain was felt as the man's weapon lodged into her shoulder. She had no more energy to cry out, but instead, let out no sound her face showing nothing but determination. The man laughed, but suddenly coughed a spattering of blood as he looked down to find an agile saber placed perfectly between the pieces of armor he wore protecting his chest and lower body. He looked at it with disgust as she then pushed the sharp blade to the side, cutting its way out of his abdomen quickly and unforgivingly.

She gave a single smirk "The light...always...prevails" she said as the man fell to the ground.

She gasped before falling to the ground herself, slowly blinking her eyes before seeing a few boots approach her as she felt her body being lifted. And then...
