The manga series premiered on September 9th back in 2009 and it is still running to date with almost 30 Tankobom formats.
The main theme of Attack on Titan is about how humanity found themselves settled within three protective walls to keep off from all the terrifying titans that want to prey on them. However, Eren Yeager, a young boy within these walls believes that his life is a caged life similar to that of cattle and he one day aspires to check out what exists beyond the walls just like Survey Corps, the heroes he looks up to. It is too bad that a deadly Titan shows up and unleashes chaos.
Eren’s story is initially a sad one since his whole life turns upside down when the wall protecting the entire village from the Titans becomes breached hence bringing in immeasurable havoc on the entire village. At the same time, he loses a very close relative after this ordeal and witnesses firsthand how ruthless the Titans can be. Following this traumatic experience, his anger fuels him to dedicate his life to the eradication of the Titans by joining the Survey Corps which is an elite military unit fighting Titans outside the remaining walls.

For all the movie recaps, watch them help you refresh your memory in case you want to.
