An out of this world process...

...for worldly perspectives

By Lindsey AstonPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

I know I am a bit of an eccentric and interested in weird and wonderful stories of what people have experienced on this planet.

As a hobby I listen to sci-fi and fantasy novels, sometimes real encounters of Alien abductions. Now the famous story of Indrid Cold and an Earthling Man called Woodrow Derenberger, taken to a planet called Lanulos. I was interested in, after a facination over The Mothman of Mount Pleasant. Don't get me wrong I am by no means ignoring encounters people have had, here in my home countries of UK. I am strongly interested in those stories too.

This is a story I did see was a real encounter... or so it seems to be marketed. I believed this until Chapter 7 Lanulos and the People. The run up to this chapter gradually built up the the sense that Derenberger was just a sci-fi writer passing off a fictional story as if it was a real encounter or maybe he became so consumed within his story that he and his family believed it & it became real to them (kinda like the law of attraction visualisations). His Daughter, Taunia later wrote a book "Beyond Lanulos".

NOW HERE ME OUT HERE...

I wanted to write a blog post on this because Chapter 7, if you are feeling stuck or blank on seeing where your value is in the world & the economy on Planet Earth is heading. The lifestyle these other worldly people whether real or not have on Lanulos definitely gives some contrast. A lot of the descriptions are vague however some of the lifestyle is concerning.

Bare in mind this book was wrote & published around the 1970's, imagination was probably limited then although I don't see how as 15 years later Back to the Future predicted most of the tech we have today.

In the mothership travelling to Lanulos the day before being allowed to step foot on the planet. The ships dining room serves up some food like our earthly potatoes, some other veg similar to our green beans and a meat called Katuma (Kinda like out wild deer).

The first contrast. Our world on Earth is heading more and more towards veganism. Even meat eaters are warming up to the idea of eating substitute burgers because we are finally pushing our boundaries with taste.

Upon visiting Lanulos, Derenberger visits Indrid's home & family which is much like on earth, made with brick with east facing glass side (this design is now current as of the 90's possibly sooner). The living room was modern (in 70's terms) and Kitchen/Dining Room also Bedrooms also much like our own on Earth. The Kitchen had a metal box oven/stove with a one push button to start cooking.

Here is the second concerning part, the house and stove used atomic power.

Indrid and Derenberger head out to Gathering No.27 (it's how they call cities). This is where sidewalks move like flat escalators (yes we have them in airports). I can't imagine we would ever have moving sidewalks here on Earth, we are too much revolved around money for a start, it would cost a fortune. However, hover cars are a possibility without the troughs. However we are more focused on electric vehicals, cutting emissions and self drive cars for the time being so anything hovering or flying would be a long long long while yet. Flying probably wouldn't happen due to air space congestion.

The third concern and I will leave it at this. The people of Lanulos are Nudists during the warmer seasons and seemed to quickly usher Woodrow into a restroom to disrobe. Now whoa hold up there. Seems to be happening all a little too fast plus don't expect this to happen on Earth. There are too many criminals about, including the child abusers, paedophiles. There is no way we would do this. Besides fashion is constantly moving and we Earthlings love expressing ourselves through clothes waaay too much.

To wrap this post up and the whole point of it is to suggest just how much of an eye opener this exercise has been to take an image of some other planet and how they live. I mean there was nothing said about Lanulos being further in the future from us but this tends to be the assumption when we speak of people from other planets, especially when they have the technology to fly to us.

I highly recommend trying this exercise and with other alien abductions and planet visits, if any. Or even any book which mentions which talks about what life will be like in the future. Listen and match up your own ideal life or ideal view of the world. It has helped me a huge bunch in finding clarity on what is happening in todays economy.

Thank You for reading
