He was the love of her life, she was his, with that she threw a small veil stained with blood to the sea...
Years ago, before her quest for vengeance, our queen was a young princess, a naïve young lady, hopeful and believed in happy ending.
He was young, careless, handsome, irresponsible, and a playboy, what to expect from a prince? He always had what he wanted, after all the stars aligned, he was good looking, he was about to become a king to a kingdom, he knew how to charm women. Knowing he was about to be wed to a princess he never met before, he decide to celebrate for a last time his freedom. He threw a party on a magnificent shit, the elite of his kingdom was there, the most beautiful women were chosen to entertain him and his guesses. The sun was starting to set when a vision of pure beauty captured his attention, she was most beautiful woman he ever seen in his 22 years. It was love at first sight, he was in trans, everything around vanished, she was a vision of perfection, out of this world. He never felt like this before, he fumbled on his words, he was clumsy, a little bit shy even. She found him adorable, she smiled at him when he tried to introduce himself. She told him her name, Marion, what an enchanted name he thought. He spent the night with her, not caring about his friends and guesses, he forgot where he was, he was transport by the magic of her presence. He never thought this kind of love was possible, that love was possible in just one night, his mind wondered to a future with Marion. He could see it, her beautiful smile, his wife, having children, rule his kingdom with her, grow old with her. A life time together. That dream shattered by a bright blinding light burning his face and the cold water slapping his feet. he cough out a pool of sea water, he looked around him, in shock he saw bodies lying around him, his friends, the ship, what happened? Where is Marion? He heard from a far people calling for him, the royal guard run to him, he was still agar when they checked on him. His friends, all gone, he was the only survivor, they all died, guild suddenly hit him. He didn't remember what happen until the moment he went to his cabin with Marion, his last memory was her. He look at the horizon, there, something or someone? He recognized her, she survived, she waved at him before vanishing. Since that fated day, he changed, he mourned his friends, he became quiet, barely speaking, he wasn't the same. He wouldn't look at any women, wouldn't get drunk and have parties. Every night, he would return the beach where he was rescued, sit in silence at the same spot fixing the horizon, hoping she would be there. Now he was more then certain she was the one for him, she saved him, she showed him love. His father the king had arrange his wedding to a princess from an allied kingdom, the prince didn't try to dissuade his father, which surprised the king. That night, the prince went to the beach one last time before fulfilling his duty, this time she was there. Marion was waiting for him, she was sitting on a rock near the spot he would sit and wait for her. He told her about his marriage, told her how much he loved her and would never love another woman, she was his true love, she smiled and just told him she knew, she kissed him one last and vanished away in a wave.
Our princess, Annabel was existed to be the prince wife, she knew he was the most eligible man in all kingdoms, and of course she knew his reputation with women. However, she believe and hoped he would be smitten by her, her beauty. She was a princess after all, the most beautiful from all lands, and her father was a feared king. Even with hope, princess Annabel was confident she will win the prince heart, after all men in her kingdom would fight for her hand. She knew how to seduce them and make them do whatever she wishes, like she had power over them. She was her father favorite, the youngest of 5, she would make sure everyone knew who she was and remind her siblings she was the favorite. She was ready to meet her prince, and to spend the rest of her life with him.
The day of the engagement arrived, too fast for the prince, but to slow for princess Annabel. Before meeting her prince, her sister Evengil gave 2 presents, a vial with a potion and a small white veil. She told the princess that the vial contain a love potion, so her prince will love only her to the end, but Annabel refused them and stand to her sister that her beauty will do the work for her. Evengil, however was clever, she brushed it off coldly, and told her sister that beauty fade, the potion will help her. But she will need to give it to the prince on their wedding night, when his love for her is still fresh and new. Reluctant, Annabel accepted the gifts, ungrateful her sister though. When the sisters approached, the prince never look so sad, since his friends demised, he did the best he could to mask his sadness with the brightest smile possible but his eyes betrayed him. Princess Annabel didn't pay much attention to that, all she knew he was exactly what she thought he would be maybe more. She was swooned, he was better then whatever she imagined of him, she walked to him with confidence. The prince in the other hand, found his bride pretty much ordinary, she wasn't what he was told, his maids were probably easier on the eye then her. He had to marry her, that was his duty, for his kingdom, for his legacy, even with that his heart skipped a bit a went to Marion. The wedding was grandiose, lavish, music was playing, laughter was filling the room, but the prince wasn't enjoying any of it. Princess Annabel, should had known that night, she should have but she was focus on her own joy of marrying the most handsome prince of all kingdoms. When the prince attention was on his father, Annabel took the opportunity to poor the love potion in the prince wine. The prince grabbed his cup, before the cup meet his lips, Annabel made him a promise, to only love him, he smiled sadly and drank the potion in one gulp. She stared at him for a moment, then though maybe the potion needed time to start to affect him, maybe weeks or moths? She didn't remember the instructions from her sister, she barely listened to her.
It's been a year now they have been married, the prince nothing but respectful to princess Annabel, now his wife. The simple thought of it gave him shivers, he was always thinking of Marion, he couldn't keep his mind of her. At night, he would dream of Marion, he wouldn't spend more time then necessary with his wife, it was clear to him, he didn't love, he couldn't. The sadness didn't leave him, even after Annabel gave him a son, he fulfilled his duty, he gave an heir to the throne.
One night, after 3 years of marriage, his mind broke and reveled his secret in his sleep, he was reliving the fateful night he met her, when he survived. He called the name Marion, Annabel never heard of any woman named Marion, she heard every word he said. She was sadden by what her husband said, but most of all she was angry. She couldn't believe that he pretended loving her, that potion didn't work. She looked at the sleeping prince, she slapped him before pretending to still be asleep. For weeks she pretended, she requested to have her sister Evengil to pay her a visit. When Evengil arrived, princess Annabel didn't waste anytime, she asked her more detailed about the potion and what the veil would do? Evengil saw anger in her sister eyes, she asked princess Annabel what was making her so angry? Annabel explained to her sister, what her husband said in his sleep, and where he went the following week from that night. She explained she followed him to see who was that woman he was calling in his dreams. She remind her sister her words " it will love you forever, no one else", but Evengil told her that she misunderstood what she said. She told Annabel if she would have listened closely, she would remember she said " but his heart belong to someone else, you'll seat his fate". But then princess Annabel remembered the veil, what is the power of the veil? Evengil, was scared now to tell her sister what the veil will do, she had no choice but tell her sister. The veil is to give as a gift to the goddess of revenge, it have to have something belonging to the one who broke their vow.
Annabel never saw Marion, all she knew it was that her husband would go every night to the beach, looking at the horizon in silence. She though maybe Marion died on that night, maybe she was just a memory her husband kept alive. She didn't worried for the following months, she became the queen and the prince became the king once his father passed. She wondered to the beach one night until she met a gorgeous woman, she was sitting on a rock not to far from the coast, but at distance to queen Annabel. She smiled at her, Annabel smiled back, then her eyes scanned the woman body, she wasn't human. There was a tail instead of legs, she immediately knew, that was the goddess of revenge, she her smile widen. She asked the creature to destroy the woman who stole her husband heart, the woman on the rock ask if she would like to have her husband to be destroy as well. Queen Annabel nodded, the woman requested something belonging from her husband. She couldn't believe her luck, she finally get her revenge. Even though, the prince now the king never cheated on his wife, Annabel wanted him to worship her like her father did. She wanted him to be at her feet, she was sure that after the ritual she will have what she always wanted, her husband to see only her and no one else. The following night, she brought a basket of fruit, and in her veil were her husband hair, she took it when he was asleep. She threw the basket and the veil in the sea, the woman on the rock gave her back the veil, it was dry. The woman on the rock told her, that queen Annabel will have her wish come to fruition in 3 nights.
Marion was longing for her prince, he was kind to her, every night she would swim to the rock near the bay. She would hid behind the rock and listen to her lover, wishing to be with her, holding her. He always told her, his heart belong to her, he would repeat that to her until the end. She loved him too, she was afraid he wouldn't accept who or what she was. How many time she tried? Before him, the other men would run away, call her a monster, he was different. He truly loved her, she could read his soul, his heart, he didn't lie. One night, she felt him going to their beach, the only place they could be together, she swam to the rock. But when she got there, she felt someone else, it's been years since she last saw him. He was still as she remembered, just a bit older. She knew then, he never forgot her, she smiled and tried to calm her heart booming in her chest. Joy filed her heart knowing he loved her as much she loved him.
It's been 3 night, Annabel waited, and waited, she started to lose patience. Nothing happened yet, until she hear a scream coming from her father room. He came for a visit, he missed his favorite daughter. Queen Annabel ran to his room, holding tight to the veil. Blood spreading everywhere, someone bite off his neck, the old man was in agony, holding his arm to his daughter direction. She ran to him, pressing his neck, screaming and crying, she called for help. The guards arrived, but it was too late he was gone, one of the guard told her that her son is missing. Then she knew, the goddess, the wish, it was a death wish, but she didn't though it would be her father. Her prince, she wondered, was he alive? Did the goddess also took her son?
She ran to the beach, her husband followed her. When Annabel reach the spot, the exact spot where her husband king Eric, have been longing for year for his love Marion. She felt to her knees, call for the goddess, begging her to not take her son. The sea was quiet, until king Eric call for her name, it was then a giant wave washed the shore. A woman appeared with a little boy in her arms, she looked at the queen and saw him. The woman, said to the queen that she was the goddess of revenge, but also her name was what her love gave her, Marion. King Eric walked to Marion, not looking back, he joined his true love and his son. Marion, king Eric and his son disappear in another giant wave. Queen Annabel was all alone, crying and kept begging for her family back, she stayed at the shore until the break of dawn. She lost everything that night, she became a shadow of herself, when the royal guard came to her she looked old. Her youth was taken away, she paid the price of her pride, she didn't realize how she change in a matter of hours.
Eric was finally reunite with his wife, his true wife and his son. Marion knew that Annabel was Eric's wife and knew she wanted her husband dead, she read her mind. That night Annabel didn't just wish to have that woman away from her husband, but she wanted him dead too, she never truly loved him. Marion knew Annabel, she knew her heart. But now it doesn't matter, she is with her only love, she has a family now.
The end.
