5 Science Fiction Shows to Binge
5 Shows that will entertain you for months

Over the last ten years, Science fiction television has become a normal part of my life. I grew to love science fiction when I was introduced to Stargate by my first husband. Since then, I have become more obsessed with science fiction shows and will watch just about everything there is, however there are Five shows that I will always love to watch, over and over again.
STARGATE SG-1
I am of course going to start off with the show that started it all for me. Stargate SG-1 is a spin off television show of the 1994 movie Stargate. This series brings comedy as well as some aspects of drama to the table and is pretty interesting and entertaining to watch.
The show follows Colonel Jack O'Neill played by Mcguyver’s handsome and hilarious Richard Dean Anderson, along with others who are now on the team SG-1. These team members explore other planets by the use of a Stargate which takes them to other planets. During their trips, they are looking for new technologies as well as new friendships with the planet's races.
Stargate SG-1 was so popular that it lasted for Ten seasons and once held the world record for the longest running science fiction show, running for ten consecutive seasons. Although there were other spin offs, including Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, they were never as popular as SG-1. Along with spin-offs, there are three movies (other than the original Stargate movie), a cartoon series and a web series. Although watching Stargate SG-1 will take about 9 days and 2 hours, if you add all the movies, series and extra Stargate related watchable items, you will use up a great amount of time. YES, it will be worth it in the end.
If you would like to own Stargate SG-1, here is a link for the complete box-set, although Amazon Prime offers the show free to watch to prime users.
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Although the original Star trek series is fun to watch, I would consider TNG to be the best out of all the spin offs out there. This series is 7 seasons long and will take about 7 days and 10 hours to watch, if you watch it non stop.
The Next Generation follows Captain Jean-Luk Picard on board a new and improved Enterprise. Even though this spin off is completely revamped, we still get to see some of the original cast as they go about everyday life in space.
We get to meet a new version of Klingon's and so many other types of species we didn’t get to see in the original series.
TNG also opens up the possibility that gender will not matter in the future as they explore the aspects of species that are gender less, along with some of the male team members sporting dresses. Doing this definitely pushed the limits for the time that this series was popular and now we look back and realize they correctly predicted where we humans are going as a species.
This series also has some movies that go along with it allowing us to have as much of Jean-Luc Picard as we can handle. The movie Star Trek Generations, brings Captain James T. Kirk into the mix as well. Seeing the original cast interacting with the new cast, in episodes and movies is a Science Fictions fans fantasy.

Warehouse 13
2009’s popular Science fiction show, Warehouse 13 follows two secret service agents who are transferred to Warehouse 13, a secret U.S. Storage facility, which houses artifacts that have magical powers. This show quickly grew a fandom although there are only 5 seasons of the series it is actually a spin off of another popular Sci Fi show called Eureka.
One fun thing about this show, is we get to see artifacts from history, such as Alice’s Mirror (Alice in Wonderland), Marilyn Monroe's brush and even Alan Edgar Poe's Pen. Each of these items holds a special power which is why they are housed in Warehouse 13. We also get to learn the history of the Warehouse. If you love history as well as fantasy, this show is definitely for you.
Warehouse 13 is available to watch on Amazon Prime through IMDB TV and is free with ads.
DOCTOR WHO
This list wouldn’t be a very well written list, if I didn’t include Doctor Who. The new Doctor Who Series has 12 consecutive seasons, which adds up to hours and hours of entertainment and frustration as we are introduced to a new Doctor every few seasons.
Doctor who brings everyone's childhood nightmares to life with episodes like “Don’t Blink” and “The Silence”. Some of these episodes will have you laughing and some will scare the hell out of you. Imagine having a scary angel statue become more terrifying and closer every time you close your eyes.
Not only do we get a new Doctor every few seasons, but a new companion as well. The companion is a friend of the Doctor’s that assists him/her on their journeys through space and time. We are also introduced to a new Tardis (a sort of spaceship fashioned to look like an old police box” as well as a new sonic screwdriver (think magic wand).
Unfortunately, Doctor Who isn’t available as free to watch, but is available for purchase.
Black Mirror
Black Mirror is almost like The Twilight Zone. Each episode is seperate from others, meaning that they don’t really tell a continuous story but different stories. This prevents the viewer from becoming too bored with the characters as every episode the main character changes.
This show will make you think about things as well as question the technology we use now a days and where humans and their future are hidden. A few episodes bring up the dangers of social media as well as where we will be in the future when it comes to social media. Much of our lives are spent online and not so much hidden, which can add danger.
This show is not available on Amazon Prime (or even to buy) as it is a Netflix Original Series.
There are so many Science Fiction shows out there that are extremely entertaining. However, these are just 5 of those shows and these shows alone will give you hours, days and even months of entertainment. What are your favorite Science Fiction Television shows?
