This article is going to be very different from what I usually publish. This article will be the first part of a fictional story about science friction. If this type of genre interest you, please consider reading you might enjoy it.

Vermont 29th of November 2250. The construction of the region’s thirtieth metropolitan city has just been completed. One that was intended to be the region’s third largest mega-city. The newly formed urban city took an area of twenty-five thousand three-hundred-and-sixty-kilometre square. Complete with schools, hospitals, public infrastructure, commercial areas, suspended vertical farms, 504 skyscrapers all reaching one mile in high, and the overall city could house a hundred and eight million people. It was one of ten new mega-cities planning to be built in the wealthiest of the world’s only two regions. However, as unexpected as it was, Vermont's population wasn’t increasing at all, but it was mostly stagnated and in some part of the region the population was actually going thought a steady decline. So, reasonably the city was not built to house a growing population.

What was it then built for? You see, Vermont, had all the resource it took to build mega-cities. In fact, all the cities in the region where basically huge skyscraper farms. All the region’s cities where nothing but thousands of square miles of man-made skyscrapers. Skyscrapers where the building block of the region. It represented where everybody lived whether that was the poorer class at the lower basements, the middle class above them or the echelons in the upper penthouses. Vermont had the expertise and tools needed to construct huge urban cities. Meaning that technologically speaking, it was very stable. But one part in which it wasn’t was socially. In fact, Vermont was very unstable when it came to social issues.

And it was from this social instability that came the real intention behind building urban metropolitan. Now it was of course the wealthiest out of the two regions on the planet. But due to its lack of social order, inner conflict within the region was inevitable. Which eventually led to the formation of the three-social class. The lower class, the middle class, and the upper class of the society. And it was this upper class of society that where behind the construction project of huge mega metropolitan cities in the rest of the region. But again, Vermont was not the only region on the planet. Because aside from Vermont there was Devon. A less developed region economically speaking. But had more people living in the region.

In fact, seventy percent of the world’s ten billion people lived in Devon making it by far the most populated region. And that was not the only differences between the two regions at least not the most important one. As previously mentioned, Vermont was very divided as a society and that was its biggest difference with Devon. Unlike Vermont there was no social class and more frightening no free will. Which is how Vermont was different and to an extend became very wealthy and developed. The year is 2165 a city in Vermont declares that every one of its citizens will be accredited universal freedom and the right to pursue individual life choices. And all restriction on the intellectual margin was eliminated. This led a more liberal environment for studies like art, technology, science and philosophy and as a result, they flourish. And soon the rest of Vermont adapted a system of universal freedom which eventually led to a more liberal environment for art and science.

The year is 2195. Quality of living across Vermont reach extremely high levels. The people that led the advancement in art, science and technology became the most rewarded in the society. And as a result, they pretty much took control of how Vermont functioned. Not in the literal sense but in the more deviant sense. And this created a benefit for everyone. The people became prosperous due to advancement in science and technology, which eventually led them to be came the middle class. And the intellectual that provided those advancement in science and technology was rewarded as the one in control of how things will work leading them to become, the upper class of the society. And this created a prosperous utopia where the two social class where wealthy and living in harmony until that was about to changed.

The year is 2200. As Vermont grew developed and advance, the rest of the world began to take notice and thus took interests. And it was only a matter of time before! well before this happened. Vermont February 3rd, 2215 two engineers working on an offshore rig notice and unexpected cargo visible from the nearby ocean which is slowly approaching. Looking suspicious the informed the supervisor. which had been previously informed that a cargo will arrive somewhere. However, it was not where the offshore rig was. so this was really an unexpected ship. upon further investigation they concluded that the ship was probably the same ship but was intended to relocate. So they waited for the ship to arrive but oblivious to the deception, what they notice is that it wasn't goods inside of the cargo but people. More specifically people from Devon. the Vermont citizen where shocked it was very unexpected.

And three days later the same thing happen again but this time it was a train of people appearing by land in the northern part of the region. in total four million of Devon citizen where captured either on the ocean coast of the region or on the land border. the news quickly spread across the region. and soon everyone in Vermont became aware of the uncovering at the offshore rig and the one at the land border. So it became very clear Vermont was about to witness an influx of foreigners. And shortly this became the only discussion in Vermont the influx of foreigners from Devon and what should be done about it. Now at first the whole of Vermont was welcoming of the people from Devon but for a different reason.

You see the people from Devon where very different. they came form a very different society which meant that their influx in Vermont was not advantageous for the vast majority of Vermont citizen. the reason been that the the Devon citizen behaved differently. they didn't wear clothes and refused to, they didn't speak the language and also refused to, they cached birds and fish from parks and ate them and didn't want to eat synthetic food like in Vermont, they build cottages on roads and did not want to live in skyscrapers, violently assaulted the citizens of Vermont, they burned down public infrastructure, they bought diseases with them and refuse to practice health sanitation and just did not want to adapt to the technological way of life of Vermont. And this bought an end to the social order in Vermont and replaced it with a range of social issues which eventually led to the situation When it was about to change.

Because while the middle class in Vermont was affected by this, it was worth noting that the upper class wasn't as previously mention both social class where welcoming of the Devon foreigner for different reasons the middle class knew Devon was a very poor region and saw the action of accommodating its citizen and a means of providing aid. While the upper class where accommodating of the Devon foreigners because they did not live with the middle class but lived in the upper penthouses. on top of the middle class meaning that they where immune from any social effect that could be bought about by a sudden influx of foreigners from the lesser developed region of Devon.

And so even after the middle class of Vermont invoked a ceasing of foreigner from Devon due to the social downside the bought with them, the upper class carried on with the intake of Devon's citizen for another thirty five years. and that was how Vermont lost its social stability and the formation of the third social class was made comprised of the Devon citizen who resettled in Vermont and simply became known as the poorer class and they where living at the basement of every skyscrapers with the middle class living above them and the upper class living in the penthouses above the middle class. And with the vast majority of Vermont having enough, the upper class had to do something about it.

So it wasn't long after they decided that they will have to build ten new mega cities to house only the poorer class and so the project to build an extra ten cities was launched. one of the biggest player behind the construction project was a company called codex. A technology research and development company which was the largest in the world. codex has designed the engineering structure that was to be established for the creation of the new urban areas. the company was founded during the deceleration of universal freedom and has contributed vastly to the technological and scientific advancement of the region.

The year is 2250. And the constriction of the first planned urban city has been completed making it the thirtieth metropolitan city in the region. Now during this time, it is worth noting that while the newly settled Devon citizen could not adapt to the way of living in Vermont since they have been living in a different environment. one thing that is to note is that those same people where actually reproducing and getting their population to grow. which is why despite only four million people from Devon resettling in Vermont, the codex company had plan for cities that could house hundreds of millions of people. meaning that the cities where design to house generations.
