Sometimes an End is the Best Beginning
Her colleague has been out of bounds all these years, but now she’s unemployed he’s not waiting any longer.

“You know I want you.” His voice is low and husky, sending a shiver down Kendall's spine.
She glances up, her eyes wide. “I can’t.”
He shook his head, his jaw clenched. “Don’t deny you want me to.” She wiped her sweaty palms on her skirt, turning her head back to the box she was packing.
“It doesn’t matter what I want.”
“Bullshit. You’ve been fired. There’s no reason for us not to be together now.”
She closed the lid on the box, and lifted it, her eyes prickling with tears. “It’s been great knowing you these couple of years, Curran, and I’ve had so much fun flirting, and dreaming of what might be, but that can’t happen now.”
She pushed past him and out of the office, nodding at the new girl in reception as she left. He followed, holding the main door open so she could go through, then keeping up with her long strides towards her car.
“Those dreams can come true now.”
She shook her head, setting the box on the ground and fumbled for her keys to open her car. He grabbed her arm and turned her to face him.
“You’re all discombobulated. You’ll come round.”
She shook her head again. “No, Curran.”
“Tell me you don’t want me.”
Her gaze flicked across his face, and she looked away.
“No.” He grabbed her chin, tilting her face back towards his. “Tell me you don’t want this.” He crushed his lips against hers, wrapping his arms around her to hold her close.
She intended to push him away, but the warmth of his kiss sent a tingle across her skin and instead she found herself kissing him back.
He pulled away. “Knew it!” He grinned, holding her gaze.
She shook her head again. “It can’t work.”
“Why?”
“Why? Because I just lost my job. I’ve nothing to offer a relationship. I’ve no income, I’ve got bills up to my ears, I won’t even have a home by the end of the fortnight — ”
“Then live at mine.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. We hardly know each other.”
“You’re the shy quiet type who lets loose once she feels comfortable. You prefer a stroll through a forest to a swim at the beach, you cook the best lasagna I’ve ever eaten and you are one talented artist. You don’t need this job. You need time and space to work on your art. I’ve no doubt you’ll make a killing selling your paintings, Kendall, if you just gave it a chance.”
Now Kendall’s eyes really filled with tears. “Curran — ”
“I’m not taking no for an answer.” He picked her keys from her hand and opened the car, setting her box inside. Then he opened the passenger side door. “I’m driving you back to my place.”
Kendall was too tired to argue. She’d poured her heart and soul into this job, working late nights and early mornings and now her boss had taken her work, presented it at his own and given her the flick.

Curran cooked spaghetti and meatballs, and after a glass of wine showed Kendall to the spare room, where he pulled out clean sheets and blankets to make the bed.
“Sleep well.” He kissed her forehead.
She looked at the empty bed, and a wave of loneliness washed over her. “Wait.”
He turned back from the door, his gaze meeting hers. “Yes.”
She bit her lip. “I don’t want to be too forward, but, can I sleep in your bed tonight? I don’t really want to be alone.”
His mouth curled up at the corners. “Whatever you like.” He held out an arm and she fell into a hug as he escorted her to his bedroom.
It was so much bigger than she’d imagined, but what really took her by surprise was the large landscape over the bed.
“You bought my painting?”
He grinned. “I couldn’t help it. That’s my favourite view, how could I not.”
Tears spilled down Kendall’s face, and she scrubbed at them with the back of her hand. “It’s my favourite view, too,” she whispered. She turned and tilted her face towards him, reaching up to cup his cheek.
His gaze darkened, and he pulled her into a deep kiss, his tongue parting her lips and exploring her mouth, one hand between her shoulder blades, the other cupping her backside.
She’d only wanted to cuddle, she thought she was too tired for more and she’d been friends with Curran long enough to know she could trust him with that, but now all those years of repressed feelings were rising to the surface and she couldn’t hold them back.
His erection pressed into her hip, and she found herself twisting enough to press her cleft against it.
He groaned, long and low, and now he pulled her top over her head, cupping her breast through her bra.
“I’ve been waiting for this forever,” he growled, lowering his head to suck her nipple through the thin fabric.
“So have I.” She reached behind her to unclip her bra and let it fall to the floor.
He scooped her up and dropped her onto the bed, removing her skirt in one quick movement, so she wore only her lacy knickers and heels.
“Damn. You’re sexier than I imagined.”
“Fuck me Curran, please. I need you.”
He didn’t hold back, his mouth exploring every inch of her breasts before leaving a trail of kisses down her abdomen. He slid her panties down her legs, removing her heels and buried his nose between her thighs, his tongue expertly reaching all her most sensitive areas as she bucked and moaned beneath him.
When she came he made his way back up her body, his kisses salty now with her juices.
“You want me to fuck you?”
“God, yes.”
“Now?” He stood up remove his clothes, and she gasped as his thick cock bounced between her legs, barely brushing her thighs.
“Yes. Now.”
He reached into his drawer, pulling out a condom. She licked her lips as he rolled it over his erection, imagining his girth filling her.
He kissed her again as he rubbed the head of his cock against her entrance. She squirmed, hooking her ankles around his hips.
“Please.”
“All right.” He leaned over her, kissing her again and he eased his cock inside.
“Oh my god.” The words were whispered, as his length stroked her insides. “Curran, that’s — ”
She gasped, wrapping her arms around his shoulders to keep him close.
“Good, I hope?” His words were breathy, his gaze fixed on hers.
“So, good.”
As his thrusts increased in speed she joined in, pleasure electrifying her entire body, until there was nothing but Curran and herself.
“Damn, Curran, that feels amazing.”
“I’m glad.”
He arched his neck to take a nipple in his mouth, and Kendall clung to him as a climax tore through her body.
Soon Curran came too, and his thrusts slowed to a stop.
He moved to roll off her but she held him tight. “Stay,” she whispered.
“No. You stay.”
She held his gaze.
“You really want me to move in?”
“I love you. You belong here, with me. We’ll turn the spare room into a studio. You’ll become a famous artist, and I’ll just make sure your every need is fulfilled.”
He sucked on her nipple again as she giggled.
“That seems a little too good to be true.”
“It doesn’t have to be. Stay.”
Her gaze flicked across his face.
“Stay,” he repeated.
“Okay,” she said at last. “Okay. I’ll stay.”
