'Hi my name's Lydia and I enjoy being beaten the shit out of for your sexual enjoyment.'

Comics and graphic novels are widely available at the moment on the internet. This in turn has brought the price of books right down as publishers try to compete with the online piracy. It's no secret that publishers often use tittilating images to sell their comics to the consumer. An artist that comes to mind straight away is Marvel's J. Scott Campbell who use to create his own independent series Danger Girl.

Those Danger Girl front covers were something else as they often displayed the main heroine Abby Chase looking particularly sexy. Spiderman's Mary Jane and Wild Cat get the same sort of treatment now that Campbell is commissioned to draw them.

Cumgulper? Why is every slave called Cumgulper?

Yet in turn what can be described as 'pornographic comics' have risen to prominence amongst readers. Not only that as the stories and artist quality seems to be getting much better as well. Recently I've been reading comics from the 'Do Fantasy' website who seem to specialize in mainly BDSM comics. For those of you who don't know this stands for 'Bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism and masochism. It's a sexual genre in pornographic material as well as a culture for some patrons. These comics by 'Do Fantasy' are pretty much BDSM themed with some pretty hardcore content. I decided to read another story by author Erenisch who has a particular cult following amongst BDSM comic fans. Erenisch has basically created this comic universe which sees the females in society enslaved once they hit the age of 18. He basically puts it like this 'The year is 2022 and many countries have passed the 'Compulsory Female Slavery Law' that legalizes the sexual use and trade in nubile women over the age of 18. When a girl reaches slavery age, she can be bought, sold, hired and whored. The slut can be used in every imaginable way as her owner's personal property.'

Lydia when she is in uniform.

It leads to some highly charged sexual action as well as some pretty brutal scenes at times. I have to admit that I've been highly critical of the narrative of these tales yet I keep picking them up to read. Erenisch is an excellent story teller though and the universe he has created is believable if a bit bizarre. This story is unique in that it has a 'Blade Runner' feel to it; similar to the themes that are in the Ryan Gosling movie. Basically it tells the story of a slave girl who hunts down her own kind for her slave masters. Similar to the replicant Gosling plays who is tasked in hunting down his own kind and 'decommissioning' them. In very creepy fashion it's even set in the year 2022 which is a bit too close for comfort for my liking. The comic tells the story of 19 year old Lydia, a 'Slave Cop' who for the infamous 'Slavery Enforcement and Fugitive Retrieval Unit.'

Lydia's about to be rewarded by her enforcement partner.

This is a policice division of the 'Bureau of Female Affairs' who tax slave owners on each woman they own. Bet if you've read this far you're thinking 'What the fuck?' because I know I would be. Yet this is a whole comic culture; this guy Erenisch has a whole forum of members clambering to know more about the characters he creates. The artwork is fantastic and the main story begins giving us an overview of how Lydia's day to day work goes as a 'slave cop.'

It really does play to the male fantasy; typical duties depict her giving her male partner a blowjob. Regardless of her position she is still a slave and can be used as a sex object by the men in the office. We see her capture a domestic female slave who has tried to escape while her master was being satisfied by another girl. Lydia although she sympathizes with the girls plight has to take down the girl and does so efficiently with her tranquillizer gun. After a few more sex scenes which depicts her getting double teamed by the chief and her partner; Lydia is given an undercover assignment to infiltrate a cult who appear to be freeing slaves. Will Lydia's loyalty be torn between being treated slightly better than others and being free?

Lydia is an interesting character.

It's a good concept but for me there's like nudity being flashed on you from every angle. It gets to the point where it is kind of gross. What worries me as well is the men are particularly violent with the slave girls. It worries me that this sort of thing would appeal to males who fantasize about beating the shit out of women. It only gets weirder when Lydia goes undercover at this cult who are supposedly freeing women. The slaves are given instruments to increase their vagina capacity and give them a 'shock' as well. By the end I felt a bit sick by some of the concepts thrown at me which is a shame because the whole Blade Runner theme was awesome too. There's an artist's disclaimer at the beginning showing the heroine out of character explaining how much 'she enjoys her treatment.'

I think it's to encourage the idea that it's not real and therefore OK to enjoy this type of thing. Yet it still didn't make me feel any better about reading it. The comic is available at the 'Do Fantasy' website for 19.99 Euros. The art is great but the violent sex is a bit excessive; it was a bit too much for me so I give it 2 out of 5.

2 out of 5.
