Chapter One Roxie: Present Day

Roxie dropped her phone as she got out the car. OMG! Today is going to be a long day. She screamed in frustration. She picked up her phone and proceeded to go into the gas station. She grabbed a bag of chips, a brownie and a water. She waited in line and scrolled through Facebook on her phone, looking up every few seconds watching the line. Roxie was always in her own world never paying attention to her surroundings. She stepped up without looking and bumps into a gentlemen cutting through the line to get out the door. Ex-fucking-cuse you damn! Snapped Roxie, the word is excuse me, try that shit! The gentlemen stopped and looked Roxie up and down, Roxie did the same; the Gentleman smiled at Roxie. She rolled her eyes, stuck up her middle finger at him, smiled and paid for her stuff. She began to the door, which he was standing by, she opened her bag of chips, placed a chip on her pierced tongue, looked him in his face and said EXCUSE ME! See how I did that!? She kicked the door with her foot and walked out the gas station. Halfway to her car, the gentlemen from inside the gas station, called out to her using her whole name. She froze, slowly turned around to see him running towards her waving something. Rockzane Hart! Ms.Hart you forgot your card beautiful. He handed her her credit card, she looked at him, you ain’t gotta be screaming my government out like that and my damn name is Rozana not Rockzane! She snatched her card from him. Thank you tho! Oh I’m sorry I’ve never met anyone with a name like that. Said the gentlemen as he caught he’s breath. It’s ok I’m use to folks fucking my name up, not like we’ll see each other again but people call me Roxie, what’s your name? The gentlemen looked around, so Roxie did the same. Oohh you talking to me? Asked the gentlemen. I thought you were on the phone. Roxie who was known for making the most fucked up faces, smacked her lips and got in her car before she closed the door she told him thank you again, then pulled off. When she looked in the rear view mirror he was still standing there. Roxie put her sunglasses on and pulled out the gas station, she only had 30 minutes to get to work. As she put the car in park she called Mia again she answered said she was finishing her hair and locking the house up. Ok Don’t forget to set the alarm Hailey gets mad when we forget said Roxie they laughed. What the kids doing Nothing they still sleep oh ok well hurry up I’m here already said Roxie alright alright alright I’m coming bye! Mia hung up she sat in her car and looked at the camera from home to make sure Mia locked her babies in the house. She saw as Mia got in her car and pulled off. Roxie took her medication and continued to look at the live feed of the cameras at their house. Mia should be rolling in any minute. A black truck circled the parking lot but she thought nothing of it. She put out her blunt and reached for her purse she sprayed herself down with her favorite perfume from bath and body works then reapplied her lip gloss. Mia still wasn’t there what the fuck could she be doing?

Chapter Two Adonis Present day

Ma Dukes, I just met my wife! Said Adonis as he pumped his gas. Boy, da fuck you talking about? When did you get married? Where thee hell was I!? Boy make it make sense! Adonis laughed, no I was in the gas station and.....Don really? Ma Dukes said.

Adonis mom sat on the phone quiet as can be she waited for him to calm down. Hello??? Said his mom softly you OK now son? Adonis mumbled yeah I hope I see her again. He got in the car put his mom on the car’s Bluetooth and started to leave out the gas station. So ma dukes what should I do? Like how could I run into her again? Shit I don’t know boy! What gas station are you at the one on lover lane across from Taco Bell, explains Adonis as he drives to get on the freeway to go home. Aww shoot ain’t no telling where she live the freeway exit right there she could of been just stopping through or something said Adonis mom. Don’t say that ma! I feel like looking for her truck she was in a all black Nissan with a set of hot pink lips on the back of truck and her license plates were covered in a pink case. Yeah as a matter of fact I do go to Walmart and get me some damn garbage bags I got some shit I need to clean up that’s all and you be careful out there now son don’t go searching for her she could be trouble but if she’s really meant to be your wife you’ll see her again in due time. They hang up Adonis exits the freeway and pulls into Walmart parking lot while he’s looking for a parking spot he comes across the very car he was just telling he’s mom about. He looked twice to make sure it was the right one. Roxie was still sitting in the car not paying attention as usual Adonis parked he’s car behind hers so he could watch her. He had already gathered that she don’t pay attention but at the same time she can be mean. But Adonis didn’t mind that. That’s what attracted him to her and her eyes. She finally got out her car and started to go in Walmart. Adonis looked at her as she fixed her clothes and looked in the side mirror on her car. He ducked down in he’s seat as she looked around the parking lot. She was now on the phone with someone probably her man cause as fine as she was she had to have a man he thought. But that didn’t matter to him he was set on her and he never gave up on things he wanted. When she got closer to the door he got out the car and followed her. She was laughing and talking on the phone. As Don tried to stay back so she wouldn’t see him he was almost ran down by a black truck. He stopped and looked at it for a moment than turned back to keep eyes on Roxie. He looked in the direction of the truck again then went into the store. Roxie wasnt on the phone anymore but was power walking to the back of the store. She waved and smiled to her coworkers as she walked pass them. She was so beautiful he thought. He’s phone rung it was his mom probably calling to add on to her list. Hey what’s up mom hey son I couldn’t help but realize you said something about a high yellow dude you ran into at the gas station. Yeah yeah what about him? Asked Adonis his eyes were glued to Roxie umm how did he look she asked Adonis looked at the phone ma you can’t be for real right now you don’t even like men anymore! Laughed Adonis oh boy fuck you just tell me how this nigha looked Adonis thought for a minute well he taller than me, high yellow nigga, he had arm sling on he looked like umm who can I say ugh a older version of the dude who play in the Tyler Perry plays the light skin dude with the cross on his chest the same tat I want and got he laughed. They hung up Adonis mom sent a text to her brother to see where he was he hadn’t answered her in a couple of days and she was getting worried.

Chapter 3: Roxie Present day

Bitch!, you said you was in route to here and you not! She started laughing you always late my nigga,damn! I’m not punching you in I almost got caught last time. I’m coming I’m coming hoe damn! I got stuck in traffic explained Mia ummm hmmm best friend ummm hmmm just get here! Roxie hung up and walked up to the locker she shared with Mia. She waved at some co workers as she sat in the break room waiting Mia. Getting worried Roxie got up to see where she worked this morning as usual she had to monitor the self check out lanes. she heard Mia ass talking shit to some of their co workers. Mia you ain’t got time for that you only got 2 mins to punch in tramp! Mia came around to where Roxie was I punched in already woman! Oh ok cool long as you here heffa. Roxie put on her makeup and lipgloss sprayed her favorite perfume all over her curvy figure. She stopped and looked in the mirror at herself. Her sun kissed brown sugar skin seemed to glow as she looked in the mirror. She pulled her work vest over her barely there ass even tho Mia tells her she has ass for days! Come on heffa let’s knock these hours out so we can go for a drink when we get off said Mia as she closed the locker and started to walk out the back room come on woman let’s go. Roxie followed her where you at today tramp said Roxie as she caught up to Mia ummm I’m on register 16 right by you they laughed today was finna be a breeze thought Roxie as she started to sign into her register. So Hailey will be back home tonight we should do something said Mia as she walked up to Roxie. I don’t know maybe cook and watch movies just chill she was gone on business she might just wanna chill. Mia shrugged her shoulders true so we’ll make dinner with the kids pig out smoke drink chill said Roxie yes sounds like a plan aw bitch you gotta make your triple chocolate brownies for dessert tonight. Roxie smiled right ok I’ll get the ingredients when we get off today and call your tree man and get us all some 7ths said Mia Roxie smiled let me call this muthafucka now cause he like to disappear on people. Roxie walked away to make the call Mia sat and counted her drawer. A tall light skinned man walked past and Mia swear she knew his scent she glance both ways but only saw the tall light skinned man limping by she flicked on her light and waited for a customer. Questioned Roxie damn we just started our shift who pissed you off laughed Roxie well said Mia that’s not it but you know that cologne we hate she clenched her teeth as she said it Roxie looked at her confused at first than thought about what Mia said she leaned in closer to Mia and whispered in her ear Mia started to shake her head yes and they slowly looked at each other. They looked around the store. Mia leaned back towards Roxie I only saw a tall light skinned man. Roxie eyes grew big- BUT he had a limp Roxie calmed back down ok ok imma go look at the cameras at home Mia shook her head ok and took the waiting customer. Roxie checked the cameras her children were still sleeping she sighed with relief. Beside maybe someone else liked the same cologne she put her phone in her back pocket and started walking around looking at the customers as they walked up. None of them were Morris but the cologne he wore was lingering around in the air.

Chapter 4: Adonis present day

Adonis hopped out the car as soon as Roxie stepped through the doors of Walmart. Not trying to look like he was following her he decided to get a cart and actually pick up somethings he needed. As he casually shopped he kept an eye out for Roxie. Adonis has almost went through every aisle in the store and still didn’t see her. He doubled checked what he had made sure he wasn’t forgetting anything and headed to the registers as he stood in line, looking up every now and then he heard Roxie talking he got out of line and headed for her voice moving quickly she stopped talking as he got closer to her voice he saw her playing with a customers baby in their cart. He got in the self check out lane. she worked here? He questioned himself he was next in line. Roxie had her back turned helping the woman who’s baby she was playing with. Adonis stared at her she was about 5’6” sun kissed brown skin, a cute bald fade, pretty light brown eyes, big juicy lips, the prettiest smile he’d ever seen, she was built perfectly for him he continued to stare at her in awe and noticed her nails were done, eyebrows arched, a piercing through the middle of her top lip and most importantly no ring on her finger but she had to have a man he thought there was no way she was single. NEXT CASH ON THE LEFT CARD ON THE RIGHT! Roxie yelled she didn’t turn around tho, Adonis goes to the register and starts to ring up he’s few items. As he’s bagging his items Roxie walks past him and smells his cologne. He looks out the corner of his eye and sees that she’s standing right next to him. The customer next to him needed some help . Now all he had to do was talk to her; he started to approach her but didn’t want her to feel stalked or some creepy shit. He paid for his things and started to the exit. Sir! Sir! Your money you didn’t grab your money from out the machine. He turns around and there she was holding his money. Roxie put her hands on her hip so you following me now! She shoved the money into his chest. Why are you following me? Adonis still has no words. Roxie waved her hands in front of his face then snapped her fingers at him. He blinked finally. My my my bad he stuttered it’s just well I mean- didn’t you almost run me over this morning at the gas station? Adonis looked at her yeah that was me Roxie laughed ok so y u come in here I’ve worked here for 2 1/2 years never saw you come in here once. She walked up close to him their faces face to face. A tall light skinned man limped out of the store and looked around the parking lot. He saw Adonis getting into his car as fast as he could he rushed to his truck to follow him. He finally made it to his truck he pulled himself inside but kept his eye on Adonis the parking lot was full he was still trying to get out of the parking lot. The light skinned man started his truck and quickly pulled out his parking spot he sped to get behind Adonis not giving a fuck about anyone walking in the parking lot. He was two cars behind Adonis which was good so he wouldn’t see him. The light skinned man phone went off. He glanced down and seen it was a text from his sister Crystal what the hell could she want. They barely spoke except for when it came to the family business but when he had his accident his sister became more active in his life. She helped him when he came home from the hospital and through physical therapy. He read the text Aye little bro just seeing how you doing? I remember you said you’d be in town just trying to see you. Hit me up love Big Sis the cars in front of him started to move he text his sister said he’ll meet her later on he needed to talk he think he found his family. The chase was on the light skinned man followed a few cars behind Adonis, he got on the freeway and headed to Milwaukee. The mans phone went off again he glanced at his Apple Watch instead of picking up his phone. Bro we went over this in therapy your family died in the car crash. Do I need to call the Dr. again are you taking your meds lil bro. The man grew mad with anger, he ripped his own watch off his wrist and threw it on the passenger side at the door. He looked around to make sure Adonis hadn’t got off he was still a few cars ahead. The man phone went off again he didn’t look he continued to drive in silence. Since he didn’t answer his sister started to call. He connected the phone to the Bluetooth in his truck, then picked up the call. Hello! Bro What is it Crystal? First of all no one calls me that anymore Nigga He cut her off I call you that you will always be my sister no matter how your lifestyle is now Crystal didn’t say anything at first. Then said Whatever! Like I was saying you know your family died in that horrible crash on 1-43 two and a half years ago. No! Yelled the man I’m telling you I seen them I haven’t seen my kids but I seen them I saw Annie and Kylie I saw my family! His sister was silent then replied where are you little bro Cause you clearly have lost your fucking mind because they are dead we picked up the babies car seat with her still in it and she was dead bro. Kylie and Annie burnt to death in the car and your son was thrown out of the car he hit the ground at 96 mph they scraped him from the ground they all were pronounced dead on the scene. You only have one son and he doesn’t even know that you’re his father. Tears fell from the mans face and he yelled out cutting her off IM TELLING YOU I SAW THEM! MIA ESPECIALLY Adonis got off the freeway on the Downtown Milwaukee exit. The man got off as well. Mia, who the fuck is Mia? Asked his sister I mean Annie see now I know you tripping said Crystal I’m not tripping sis I’m telling you I seen them they work at the Walmart in Germantown, I can’t explain it they there I’m telling you. Ok don’t forget call me so we can meet I can prove it! He reached up and hung up the phone. Morris stared at Adonis as he got everything out of the car. He picked up his phone again and went into the hotel. Morris watched him get on the elevator. He reached in his glove department and took out his medication. His right eye twitched he put the pills in his mouth and swallowed them whole with out anything to drink. The elevator was pure glass and he saw Adonis get off on the top floor where the penthouse suites were. He grinned Kylie could only be using him for his money because that’s what she’s use to. He grinned and pulled off. First he had to prove that his wife and maid were still alive. Which mean his son was still alive and her daughter because she definitely wasn’t his child
