Philippine's Porn Perception

Sexpectation vs Reality

My country, Philippines is a religious and conservative country but as technology progress, so as the access on pornographic materials. It is a taboo to talk about sex between families and even with some friends and at school education. How ironic that in this country with a reserved and not that liberated culture, we ranked top 1 on Pornhub, as the country with the most time spent watching porn in a single visit in 2021.

Last week I've watched a local documentary about the reality of sex workers in the Philippines. One of the brave and respected guest is Salome Salvi, I would say an amateur rising pornstar here. And yes I had watched some of her videos thru video suggestions on some adult site. Her screen name is derived from two characters of our National Hero Jose Rizal's book, "Noli Me Tangere", which are "Salome" and "Padre Salvi". She also find that funny because when those two names first syllable are combined, "Sal and Sal", comes the word "salsal" which means masturbate in Filipino. Being an adult content creator is her way to express herself as she was a Fine Arts Major graduate at a prestigious university. It also gave her sense of control in her own life and financial stability.

Not all women make the same fate as Salome, others enter sex works just to thrive for the day. One woman in the documentary said that it's all that she's got. If she stop providing services, without any decent job, she won't survive. That hits hard. Because many mother, sister, daughter had no other choice but to explore erotic services (sex services, erotic massage, sex chatting, girlfriend experience/GFEs) to provide food on the table, to continue studying with the hope of better future, and to make end meet on a daily basis. For that reason, it is important to give respect to those people because at the end of the day they are human too, have family and kids waiting for them at home.

One form of pornographic material is "sex chatting" where a person provides arousal to another person by means of erotic messages in exchange for money. I've had quite experience on sex chatting for free since these women are my friends. Then recently, I availed a group chat on Telegram where the model will provide sex chatting services as well as nude photos, sex videos and video calls until withdrawal. And surprisingly, this model has 1,500+ members on her group. Other models has even more. This kind of services may be hidden in the shadows but it pays well for the many. Because when men are excited, aroused, and lonely, money is not a question anymore. They are willing to pay $100 to $200 or even more! There are times that a regular customer may have the opportunity to meet the model and avail a "walk" service or simply means, they can have sex with the model for a specified amount with some terms and conditions.

Filipinos are religious, hospitable, resilient and conservative people. Still, driven by loneliness, unclear future, broken relationships, to survive or just merely forget how life sucks and hard it could be, many people go into this kind of industry. Whether they are the ones who provide short time gratification or those who fall for carnal needs and wanted to be in euphoric state, nevertheless they are humans that deserved to be treated well with respect. We are not to judge them but to listen to them openly to understand the environment they're into.

**All that is above are my opinion on the topic about sex workers, pornography and such.
