My New Book Release - It's One for the RED Lights.
Simply Scarlet

So, years ago, I was inspired by Fifty Shades of Grey's international success and the movie series being slated to become what is now, well over a decade in age since the first movie premiered.
I wasn't all that enthusiastic about Fifty Shades of Grey by any means. I found the books too boring and flat, so I didn't have a lot of hope for the movies, but I will say the actors did a great job of making the characters more real, where I felt they were pretty flat in the books.
Remember, this is preference and most things are subjective so if anyone enjoyed the books that is great, but I just found them irritating and I decided to start writing my own little story with some spice and a title I thought was more on point for a lifestyle that isn't anything but the color of gloom and monotony in a pallette of assorted similar shades.
I had been inspired by works from authors such as my hero Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Charlaine Harris and I knew that tons of others were on the market and resembled a more honest, though fictionalized, account of what this underground lifestyle was actually like and how many people were intrigued by it. I was one of them, and this was a genre that was considered “smut” for a long time - even now, the connotations of negativity when one announces they are a romance author of any sort often come with some degree of disdain.
There are still those who say outlandish things like, “you're not a real author.”
Which is entirely untrue, and the romance genre's ability to withstand as long as it has with the voracious readers it boasts is a credit to that.
Writing a book is no easy feat, but I was on a mission, and I had a basic thought came to my mind - two words,
“Simply Scarlet.”
It was a nod to the red light districts of the past, and how spicy the steam of dynamics within the bondage world actually can be, but I also wanted to show what a bad dynamic looked like and how predatory people lurked in these places seeking out whom they can pounce upon and effectively devour like a vampire.
I felt that Fifty Shades of Grey didn't quite showcase how there are many aspects of the characters that are horribly toxic, and yet I recognized the need for the mainstream popularity at this time to be caught up with a story that would exhibit a little bit of both sides of the coin where domination and submission are concerned.
So, I created a story, and that story is Simply Scarlet. Let me share the blurb with you, to give a bit of insight into what I've produced and feel that fans of 365 Days, American Fetish, and Curiosa might appreciate.
When Darkness Seduces Innocence, Only Devotion Can Save Her
Behind the velvet curtains of Camille de Clervaux's flawless life, shadows dance with sinister intent - bumps in the night reveal darker desires have intrigued her husband, ensnaring them both in a web of twisted power dynamics.
Camille, a scarlet-haired beauty abandoned by love, stumbles into this new world of rough seduction and fantasy.
Men with power-hungry eyes devour her innocence, vaguely seeking permission as they coerce and take whatever they please. Camille finds her vanilla soul ignited by curiosity and forbidden lust, taunting her yet standing to incinerate everything.
Yet, amidst this chaos, one gaze pierces through: Jeremiah St. Clair, a former Army Ranger and UFC fighter haunted by his own demons.
The moment Jeremiah's eyes lock onto Camille's fragile beauty, his battle-hardened heart surrenders to an overwhelming urge to protect her. But Camille has found herself entrapped between two powerful men—two of Jeremiah's sponsors—forcing him to choose between ambition and devotion.
Will Jeremiah's love be enough to save Camille from the darkness consuming her, or will their passion become its final casualty?
