Chapter 2: New York, New Love
Tartan Temptation: A Scottish Girl's American Adventure

As Morven stepped off the plane at JFK Airport, she felt a rush of excitement and anticipation. She had always dreamed of visiting New York City, and now that she was finally here, she couldn't wait to explore all that the city had to offer. She made her way through customs and baggage claim, her eyes scanning the crowded airport for a glimpse of the city that lay beyond.
As she emerged from the airport, Morven was struck by the sheer scale and energy of the city. The skyscrapers towered above her, their peaks shrouded in mist, and the sounds of car horns, chatter, and music filled the air. She felt a thrill of excitement as she hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address of her hotel.
The drive through the city was a whirlwind of sights and sounds, with Morven's eyes darting back and forth as she tried to take it all in. She saw towering skyscrapers, bustling streets, and iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building and Times Square. As the taxi pulled up to her hotel, Morven felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was finally here, and she couldn't wait to start exploring.
After checking into her hotel and freshening up, Morven set out to explore the city. She walked through Central Park, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling metropolis. She strolled through the park, admiring the gardens and the lake, and people-watching as she went. As she walked, she noticed a handsome and charming stranger watching her from across the way. He was tall and lean, with piercing blue eyes and a chiseled jawline. Morven felt a flutter in her chest as he caught her eye and smiled.
As she continued on her way, Morven couldn't help but notice the stranger again. He was standing by the lake, watching her with an intensity that made her feel like he could see right through her. She felt a shiver run down her spine as he approached her, his eyes locked on hers.
"Hi," he said, with a charming smile. "My name is Jake. I couldn't help but notice you from across the way. You look like you're enjoying the park."
Morven smiled, feeling a sense of ease with this stranger that she couldn't quite explain. "I am," she said. "I just arrived in the city today, and I'm still getting used to everything."
Jake nodded, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I know the feeling," he said. "I've lived here for a few years now, but I still find new things to discover every day. Would you like to grab a coffee with me and explore the city together?"
Morven hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But there was something about Jake that put her at ease, something that made her feel like she could trust him. "Okay," she said finally, smiling up at him. "I'd love to."
As they walked through the city, Morven felt a sense of wonder and excitement that she hadn't experienced in a long time. Jake showed her the sights and sounds of the city, from the iconic landmarks to the hidden gems that only a true New Yorker would know. They talked and laughed together, their conversation flowing easily as they explored the city.
As the day wore on, Morven found herself feeling more and more drawn to Jake. She couldn't quite explain it, but there was something about him that made her feel like she was home. Maybe it was the way he smiled at her, or the way he listened to her with an intensity that made her feel like she was the only person in the world. Whatever it was, Morven knew that she was hooked.
As the sun began to set, Jake suggested they grab dinner at a small Italian restaurant in the West Village. Morven agreed, and they made their way to the restaurant, their arms touching as they walked. The restaurant was cozy and intimate, with dim lighting and the scent of freshly baked bread wafting through the air. They sat down at a small table by the window, and Jake reached out to take Morven's hand.
"I'm so glad I met you," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "You're an amazing woman, Morven. I feel like I've known you my whole life."
Morven smiled, feeling a sense of connection with Jake that she couldn't quite explain. "I know exactly what you mean," she said. "I feel like I've found a kindred spirit in you, Jake."
As they finished their dinner and prepared to part ways, Morven felt a sense of disappointment wash over her. She didn't want the night to end, didn't want to leave Jake's side. But as they stood outside the restaurant, Jake turned to her and smiled.
"I don't want this night to end either," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "Would you like to come back to my place and continue the evening?"
Morven hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But as she looked into Jake's eyes, she knew that she couldn't resist. "Okay," she said finally, smiling up at him. "I'd love to."
As they walked back to Jake's apartment, Morven felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. She had no idea what the night had in store, but she knew that she was ready for whatever came next. And as they stepped into Jake's apartment, Morven knew that she was in for a night she would never forget.
