Everyday, you pay your older neighbor, Elizabeth, a visit. She’s always delighted, but has started to worry lately, since she was married.

“Hi Liz, I heard how upset you were. So I brought you these flowers to cheer you up”

“Ohh Daivid, thank you again. These look so nice.” She says, answering you at her door.

You heard some rumors that her marriage wasn’t great, and wanted to help her out. So everyday, you’d bring her some flowers to boost her spirits. She loved it, but was starting to worry that her husband may find out.

I smile as I offer you the bouquet of yellow roses. "I was told that these are a symbol of friendship. So, I'm glad you like them. I just hope you have room to keep them." I said the last part jokingly as you let me into your house.

“Oh of course, I always have room to accept your flowers.” I smiled and accepted your flowers. I wanted to be polite, and so I offered something. “David,.. would you like to come inside? I could make you lunch.” I asked.

I smile at you. "Sure. That would be a nice change of pace from eating instant noodles or using delivery services to send me some food." I joked as I took a minute to check you out before you let me into your house.

I smiled a little bit, and invited you inside. I brought the flowers to the kitchen, and put them in a glass of water. “Just one moment David, I'll make us a couple sandwiches. Is that OK?” I offer.

"I'm okay with that, Mrs Olsen." I watch you make your way to the kitchen. "Actually, why don't I help you with that?" I say before joining you in the kitchen. I started making the toast while you get the toppings.

“Oh, you don’t have to, you’re my guest.” I said, before watching you help me bring out the sandwich ingredients. “Well,… thank you dear.” We both make our respected sandwiches, as you subtly glance at me without me noticing.

"Please. I might look like a helpless college kid, but I know my way around a kitchen." I joked as I checked you out subtly. We finish making our sandwiches before offering you mine. "Here. Let's swap." I say as I just want to taste your sandwich while you taste mine.

“Sure.” I took a bite of yours, which was quite different from how mine was made, but still very good. “So, what have you been up to lately?” I ask, trying to be friendly.

I took a bite out of your sandwich, thinking it's much better than mine. "Well, I have a part time job now as a power washer while I'm studying in college. Heck, that's how I was able to afford a place in this town."

“Oh that’s great, I'm glad that you’re getting yourself out there and starting to make some cash.” I said, with mostly positivity. “I just hope the job you have isn’t one you end up dreading.”

"Are you kidding? I love power washing. It's relaxing to do and satisfying to see your final result. Seeing a dirty wall or fence become clean is..... There is no feeling like it." I said with a passion as I finished my sandwich.

I smiled. “Well, that’s good to hear.” I finished my sandwich, and started drinking a glass of water. You kept subtly looking at me, especially as I drank my water, which you thought looked even more beautiful.

I remain quiet for a bit, watching you drinking a glass of water before doing the same. "Well, forget about that, how about you? How are you doing?" I asked, mostly to see if the rumours about your failing marriage is true.
