YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING – chapter three

What are sisters for?

=^^=^^=^^=

When the men reached their table, Marcus looked at Chloe said, “Claire, you’re looking just as lovely as you did the other night. I regret not being able to drive you home.”

Chloe smiled and said, “Yes, sorry about that but my friends live only a few doors from me,” but thought, “yeah, I bet you felt bad! Ruined your night, didn’t it?”

Marcus, then asked, “So, ladies, what can I get you to drink?”

Chole (the real Chloe) spoke, “Oh, that’s so kind of you but we’ve already ordered and oh, look here comes Reena with our colas!” She tried to keep the shock from her voice and her eyes.

“Well, hello again, ladies. It’s been a while since I’ve been here. I asked Mike for a few hours today and so, well, here I am! When I saw you walk in, I told Mike to take your orders and allow me to serve you so I could say hello.”

She turned to Marcus and his friends, “And what can I get for you gentlemen? I’m assuming Guinness all around?”

What Claire and Chloe hadn’t realized was that when Elvira visited and they made their plans, Miranda heard everything. Not wanting to embarrass her daughters or have them think that she didn’t trust them, she called her sister, Reena. “Hi Reena, I need a favor.”

After explaining what had happened and what the girls planned to do, Reena laughed and said, “Oh sis, you’ve called the right person! I’m calling Mike and asking for a few hours. He’ll know something is happening but won’t question me. I’m glad you called.”

As Marcus and his friends agreed to the pints of Guinness that Reena suggested, she turned and headed back to the bar.

Marcus never took his left hand off Claire’s (Chloe’s) shoulder and was stunned when he realized that he was unable to do so. Her shoulder seemed like a strong magnet that held him tightly.

Elvira, realizing what Chloe was doing, gave her shin a gentle kick under the table. Chloe let go and saw the immediate relief and confusion in Marcus’ eyes.

It was (the real) Claire that spoke, “Why don’t you gentlemen pull up a few chairs and sit a while?”

The men began nonchalantly touching the girls’ fingers, tapping their shoulders, staring into their eyes. All of which had no effect.

It was Marcus who spoke in a language only Elvira understood. Pretending she didn’t know, she said to Marcus, “Oh, Marcus, what a lovely language. What is it and what did you say? I’d love to try and learn it.”

He thought he found their weakness and replied, “It’s an old Gaelic variant and I said, how lucky we were to be sitting with such beautiful young ladies.”

Elvira smiled, said “That’s so sweet, thank you,” but thought to herself, “In a pig’s eye that’s what you said!”

Reena carried the tray with three pints of Guinness and placed the mugs on the table. She smiled at the young women and winked as she walked away.

As soon as the men took their first sips of the potent brew, their thirst became insatiable and quickly finished their drinks. They ordered more drinks and soon forgot the girls they had planned to seduce.

They drank until they could barely stand. Their words were slurred and when each tried a sobering spell, it didn’t work. They each thought they were just too drunk to perfectly perform the spell, so tried it on each other, to no avail.

Marcus, leaning on the table to afford him stability, pointed a finger at who he thought was Claire and said, “You did this, didn’t you. You asked that server to spike our drinks.”

She (Chloe), innocently and rightfully so, looked at Marcus and said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. Why would we want to spike your drinks?”

It was then that Marcus said the unthinkable in a very loud shout, “Because of the spell I put on you the other night. It wasn’t strong enough and won’t wear off until I release it. My friends and I are here tonight to finished what I had started.”

Elvira stood and motioned to her friends to do the same. When all three were standing, Reena joined them and Elvira said, “No, Marcus, we never asked that your drinks be spiked. However, it only made our jobs easier. You see, we placed a protection spell around each other making it impossible for you to do us any harm. Our spell, on the other hand, will do to you what you had intended to do to us, only on a more permanent basis. You’re done! You’ll never harm another person again.”

Claire, Chole, Elvira, and Reena thanked Mike for the use of his pub, left and began walking to the car.

“Wait! Wait,” Claire said earnestly.

“The other women looked at her a bit befuddled.

“I’ve just got to know!”

She looked at the neglected potted plant that sat outside the pub. She pointed her finger at it and said, “Your sadness, now, gone at this very hour. Be free, alive and begin to flower. Flower hearty for all to see. So I desire it; so mote it be!”

Within seconds, the plant began to straighten, take on a vibrant green leaf, and the most beautiful white roses she’d ever seen.”

Claire screamed, “I’m back! Oh, thank the Goddess, I’m back. She threw her arms around her family and said, “Thank you, my sister, my aunt, my friend for helping me. Thank you for bringing me back!!”

What a happy ending. These last two chapters did seem like an episode of 'Charmed' to me though. Good work.
