There was a knock on the door. Selena was startled out of a deep, but short sleep. Colin called out, “It’s time. You have been selected.” Selena blinked, stretched and smiled. The night before had slipped into morning as she had watched the eclipse of the blood moon, opposite the Earth from the sun. Each of the phases revealed how Jack and Jill, standing together in the fullness of the barley or corn harvest moon, just before the autumnal equinox, played a game of hide and seek.
It is easy to imagine possibilities even when they are improbable. There were others who had been there, but she had been chosen. Her fantasies of being selected to lead the upcoming ceremonies had turned into dreams come true. She felt her spirit quicken as her fear rose, then change into awareness. She felt like the 4 H harvest festival beauty queen, who is selected based on diverse qualifications. She recognized hers was the ability to capture the mystery and allure of her conscious and unconscious thoughts when she researched and her ability to share her message.
She walked outside. Colin joined her saying, “With the sun rising behind you, dressed in your white robe and walking stick, you look as if you have wings on your shoulders. and a scepter in her hand. You are the avatar of your namesake.”
True enough, Selena felt a fire. Recent studies reveal that the universe's first magnetic fields were roughly equivalent to the strength of the magnetic activity within the human brain. Selena felt the strong and weak interactions of the universe flow with the flux of the heavens into every fiber of her being. She was part of the universe; a living organism, connected to a continuous fluid magnetic field that pulls the iron elements embedded in the marrow of the blood and transcends time and space.
She walked past the oak tree dropping its acorns and the apple trees laden with fruit. She had been in these fields during the March equinox when like clockwork, every year, the dew first appeared. She had collected the flux of the heaven from the Alchemilla or Lady's Mantle, the alchemist's plant; that honors the Lady referred to by many names. It is used for healing potions and a solvent.
Now it was mid-September. Days were getting shorter, and temperatures were dropping. The glistening dewdrops appeared as diamonds reflecting rainbows scattered in the morning. The group walked to the alkaline fen, where the sundews, known as youthwort, held condensed and hardened unctuous oily nectar containing dew glue.
She took a deep breath. She was not a submissive female, but a woman with a voice. She spoke as the Toast Mistress who stood before the dew collectors with their white sheets.
“Each of us is a companion and friend to our shape shifting soul. We hold the genetic coding of past lives that allow our souls to be incarnated as a female, and male. We are not limited by genders. Similarities and differences help us calculate how to use strengths and weaknesses, success and failures, to negotiate with our dark shadow and lighter side, so we can attain the preferred end game of a fulfilled life.
We are joined together at this ancient feast of the Autumnal equinox as part of an ancient lineage of Earth keepers who have watched the sun and Earth wobble through Cancer, around 9000- 6000 BC, then Gemini around 6480- 4320, to Taurus, 4320-2160 BC, when the bull shaped Aurochs Bos of ancient cave drawings, became associated with the celestial Apis Bull and the religious Baal.
The solstices and equinoxes spin like a windmill, around the North Star as the Sun and Moon cycles, but the North Star changes. Hindus respect the swastika symbols, that represents the spinning constellations and celebrate, Orion known as Nataraja, "the cosmic dancer" that now appears with Sirius, in the constellation Taurus, with Aldebaran, the eye of the bull Taurus.
When the sun moved to the constellation Aries the Ram from 2160-0BC, the Good Shepherd reigned. He turned into the fisher of men as the sun moved into Pisces. The sun is moving into Aquarius, the Water bearer, who will let the flow return the feminine to society.
We are a new generation. Hesiod defined a generation as 30 years whereas Heraclitus said a Great Year was 108,000 years, the period of one complete cycle that returns the stars and planets to the same position. NASA defines a generation when there is one complete cycle of the equinoxes around the axial ecliptic along which the constellations are found, which takes 25, 920 years.
Our generation is restoring respect for the sacred feminine. Go forth and gather what has been distilled. "
The group dragged white linen sheets across the grass and sundew bogs, then wrung the sheets to collect the distillates.
After the rites of rustic magic were complete, they rested, then joined in the banquet hall where Selena once again delivered the address she had prepared, that had led to her being chosen to open the ceremony.
“Let us join and nourish the soul of the sacred mother who lives in us all . The Feast of the legendary ancient Egyptian female ancestor, Hathor or Athyr, flourished from 9000 -3000 BC in the Neolithic period. Hathor, known as the sacred cow, is represented by Sirius, the star of Isis and Hathor, known as the Nile Star, Sepṭ, or Sothis. She is called the “second sun” in heaven and is one of the world’s oldest timekeepers. During Hathor’s rule, some sources say there were no classes nor gender specific roles. Females were instrumental in developing superior agricultural productivity domesticating plants and animals.
In ancient Greece, this feast coincided with the month that Persephone returned to the underworld. Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, of grain and bread, was celebrated during the festival of Pyanopsia, literally meaning bean boiling.
As trade increased, nomadic invaders enslaved and exploited the matriarchal economy. The Hittite ruling class called Maryannu, the war-men, introduced knives and chariots around 1500 BC. A social evolution from as early as 4000 BC led to matriarchy becoming patriarchal property. When Theseus returned from Crete after slaying the bull, he offered thanks to Apollo with this festival.
The autumnal equinox became known as Michaelmas, after St Michael, who in earlier times noted that Thuban, the dragon that was the pole star, had moved and the dragon was slayed. Druids call the period Alban Elfed, and in 1975 it was called the feast of Mabon, the divine son who was separated from the divine mother, like Persephone who was separated from her mother Demeter. Mabon, like Apollo, is associated with controlling dogs. The dog star is Sirius, the star of Hathor and Isis.
In Ethiopia, Sirius rising marks the New Year. The Enkutatash celebration, based on traditional practices and solar calendar, marks the season of inundation. The first month of the Coptic year, Thout 19 in the season of Akhet, corresponds to September 17 of the Julian Calendar, and Sept 30 of the Gregorian calendar.
Sirius disappears into bright western evening twilight during mid-May and returns each year in August, in the east southeast, just before dawn, around the solstice. Sirius heralds the rise of the Nile, and dictates timing of when to plant, prune and gather ripened fruits. Sothis rose when the Sun-God Rā had entered his boat. Hathor, the goddess of the star Sothis, went with him and took up her place like a crown upon his forehead.
Sirius, called the star of fire, roams with the celestial herd. Herds of elephantine females were the consorts of Khnum. Cows drew the chariot of the fertility goddess of life and vegetation Nerthus. Herens bulls pulled the cart since the fall of Troy 1300-950 BCE. They became the Fairy cattle of the Celts, associated with sacred fertility rituals. Female horned Heren cattle lock horns in the battle for dominance in Switzerland, in a bloodless contest unlike traditional bull fights. They establish who is the Queen when the weaker leaves the fight and are adorned with bells to frighten predators. The feminine became associated with the usually docile female cattle.
The sacred cow of Heaven wears the horns of the crescent moon and is jeweled with the star of Venus. She wanders with the celestial herd known as the seven sister goddesses of Hathor. The Pleiades, are called the sailing ones. In Sanskrit they are referred to as the Krittika or cutters. Ancient Egyptians called them the Followers and Ennead. Hindus call them the Matrika a group of goddesses that let women become the vehicle to carry the god made man to salvation in a male oriented religious story of Jesus in Christianity, Mohammed or Buddha. Mayan and Aztec calendars associate the Pleiades with the feathered serpent, the Phoenix. The seven stars of Hathor are called the Subaru, the Japanese word for unite.
Greek myth says that when Orion chased the Pleiades, they were changed to doves. In theosophy, doves, focus energy of the seven rays from the sun through Sirius and the seven stars of the big dipper in Ursa, the Great Bear, to the Earth and to masters of Chaldean descent including Mithra, Moses and those who knew the marks of the divine order of nature.
We are children of the seven daughters of a mitochondrial Eve that lives in all genders of humanity. The sacred feminine, found in the X chromosome and maternal mitochondrial DNA that holds star based genetic material. We are born of the sublimated water that dissolved the green stones then with a spark of lightning, created the algal substance that began life.
We are the new generation of goddess of vegetation, known to the order of Melchizedek, granted by God to exist for eternity as representatives of the Holy spirit on Earth. Our task is to guide, protect, inspire, heal and to initiate souls to connect to the universe in the secret chambers of the heart and minds of people through love and light.
We are water bearers, vehicles who collect the precious drops, of the "Spiritus Mundi" that sublimate. We celebrate ancient dew collection traditions during the equinox along with Chinese, Japanese, Koreans and others who, during Chuban, collect Hakuro, white dew, on Sept 7 until it forms Hanlu, cold dew that condenses into frost due to the cold weather around Oct 8.
The Sundew plants produce potassium nitrate, known as saltpeter, that was used by alchemical philosophers as fertilizer transforming agriculture. Nodules on legume plants also fix nitrogen, and like sun dews, turn from pink to red when it contains potassium.
Mankind has learned to use what nourishes to kill. Saltpeter is used to make gunpowder.
Let us collected the dew, including that of sundew plants, to create the precious philosopher’s gold essential for creating the anti-aging Elixir of life. We will use the distilled sweet nectars gained from wisdom and knowledge of the past to digest an understanding of the present and realize potential visions of the future by responsibly optimizing situations, without making ungrateful demands for more, or seeking change for its own sake.
The Sundew holds symbiotic bacteria and fungi that produce nitrogen rich substances in nitrogen lacking soils. By digesting insects, crystalized potassium nitrous salts containing Plumbagin and 7-Methyljuglone naphthoquinones turn the nectar from pink to red. These are used in treatment for respiratory diseases such as bronchitis and asthma and historically used in aphrodisiac and love potions.
I am certain we will enjoy the hodgepodge of boiled pulse crops, prepared into a stew with laurel and other sacred seasonings. Pulse crops, such as green beans, chickpeas, lentils, alfalfa soybeans and tamarind contain Folates that are broken down by bacteria of the large intestine, that holds its own star-based DNA. They produce short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate, associated with B Vitamins activity that controls DNA methylation and essential for mitochondrial function to release good energy.
Let us break the unleavened bread together and savor the olive and sunflower oils of the season along with the pastries made of the fruits and honey of this year’s harvest. Honey mead, and wine are being served. Sirius is said to have had a son, Oenopia, who in myth is the wine drinker. Oenopia was a mathematician who determined the tilt of the earth on Atlas’s shoulders, and the length of the Great Year, when the relative position of the sun and the moon.
Our efforts honor the light offered by la Dame Pacem Domina, the Bellissima, a beauty and queen of the dark unknown, most easily seen in the black night sky. She has helped terrestrial beings compartmentalize information in ways that create a sensitive composite. We are the water bearers, who carry the sublimated distillates that might slowly correct societal systematics, in order that the spirit of a coherent, interactive, chain integration of thought can flow. Let us eat. Enjoy the nourishment and timeless wisdom passed on in this meal. "
My stories usually present facts, supported by science as we know it, that are often spoken of in myths. Both can help survival in an ever-changing world.

Whoaaaa, this was mind blowing! So freaking impressive. I loved it so much! There's a small typo here to the spelling of Taurus: "to Tauru,s 4320-2160BC, when the bull shaped Aurochs Bos of ancient cave drawings"
Thank you for joining in with my challenge, but you forgot to link your excellent story, so I have added it.
