Wrath Of The Dragons
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley.
In fact up until a couple of weeks ago everybody thought that Dragons were a myth, a legend.
This creature definitely isn’t extinct though. Unless his eyes were playing tricks on him. It was so small, a recent hatchling for sure.
Tulon knelt down slowly reaching into his bag and pulled out a fresh highland peach. He extended his hand to the tiny creature.
“Hello there. My name is Tulon Harkson and you must be starving.” he said with a warm smile before lightly tossing the fruit to the creature. The creature hissed and a small jolt of electricity shot off his tongue. He quickly approached the fruit and began to eat it.
Tulon sat down next to this small dragon and gently ran his hand down the dragon's back. As Tulon made contact with each of the dragon's scales lightning shot down his back.
“And what are we gonna do with you? I can’t leave you here, if someone finds you they’ll certainly try to kill you, buuut… if the high council finds out I brought you into the inner sanctum they will certainly have my head.”
The dragon curled up next to Tulon while he continued.
“Then again they’re always angry with me over something. Come on, I'll show you where I live. I think you might like it a little better.” Tulon scooped up the sleepy beast and put him in his satchel. Tulon stood up and stretched a little bit before heading to the entrance of the cave. The sunlight hit his eyes like an exploding fireball temporarily blinding him. When his vision eventually came back he gazed upon the beautiful landscape. The rugged mountains mixed with the sounds of a raging river made Tulon smile. His home was truly wonderful.
Tulon approached the gates of his village which were guarded by a pair of golems. The Golems refused to let Tulon pass.
“Foreign objects are not permitted beyond this point.” the Golem stood stern, unwilling to open the passage.
“It’s just a grassland apple. Look, I'm in a hurry and I don't think the grandmaster would appreciate you halting my journey. I’ll tell you what, you keep the apple and I'll be on my way.” Tulon pulled the apple out of his bag and tossed it to the Golems.
“You have deceived us before Master Tulon, we will let you pass but we are watching you closely. Have a good day Master.” The Golems stepped to the side.
“You Golems really hold a grudge don’t you. I’ll see you boys in the tavern later. First rounds on me? To make up for my past transgressions. Let’s leave water under the bridge, what do you say?”
The Golems resumed being a statue and Tulon squeezed past them.
Tulon entered the chambers of the high council and the obsidian floor was freshly polished. Tulon looked down at his own reflection and it was as if he peered into his own soul.
“Approach young one.” The Grandmaster commanded Tulon.
Tulon did as commanded, He approached the Grandmasters thrown and bowed before her.
“It is both a privilege and an honor to be summoned among such powerful witches and wizards. How can i be of service to the council?”
“We have been tracking your progress for some time, young one. The council has decided that you will be the leader of a task force for finding witches and wizards who have broken the sacred law. Those who have befriended those vile dragons and tossed away their moral code. You will find them and execute them.”
Tulon made a fist and hit his chest as he swiftly bowed.
“I am… honored, my lord.” Toulon looked at his own reflection. Traitor. That’s what he would be branded as if the council discovered his secret.
“Rise young one. Tomorrow you will meet the team that will be like family to you. Tonight we celebrate.”
