With glaring golden eyes, Akayle stands in the centre of Stonetalon mountains, looking down on the lands from the very top of Mount Kofi, a mountain that stands 1,117 metres tall. Easily, she could can see an army of fire ants circling three wolf spider on the floor, and one of the wolf spiders is being pinned down by several ants holding each leg. The two wolf spiders are defenceless as the ants tear the spiders legs off his body. The lands of Stonetalon mountains, located south west of the wilderness is dry and desolate with foggy air and no more than 3 trees every kilometre.
“Maybe climbing the tallest mountain to look for my friend isn’t the greatest idea... the air is foggy and my only clue is this necklace, and I don’t even know where to look…”
A gift is an item that is considered kind gesture when one individual values another. This gift, a heart shaped necklace was given to Akayle as a token of friendship from the Feral Child, Edward as a goodbye gift from their short adventure together during the war between the Lions dutches army who occupy the wilderness, west in Canyon Dios, and Humans in the east who fought to control all of Canyon Dios. Though the two feral kids were on opposite fractions, they managed to exclude them selves from the war to become friends. A feral child, or Feral human are the humans that mutated from the K.A.H virus, which stand for the Kill All Humans virus, a poison that was developed by the scientist in the capital of Rokobesa to use on any nation that they seen as a threat and they used it on the western content where the country Canyon Dios resides. The poison used a powerful chemical element called Klink that absorbs all types of energy, it’s only found deep underground in the South Pole. It’s still a mystery why all animals and kids below the age of 12 survived, and on top of that, every living animal had their IQ enhanced and their bodies became highly adaptable enabling many animals to absorb natural energy from the earth to mutate and evolve to suit their environment. The animals that mutated now have the choice to roam the lands with their newly acquired intelligence and abilities, eating and raising the many kids who survived the genocide.
Now Akayle the feral girl who was raised by the Great Golden eagle, Aquil who taught her how to hunt, speak, play and survive now wanders the wilderness alone searching for her friend who she hasn’t seen in 5 years since the conflicts between the humans and lions settled.
Her voice echoes through the sky where no one but a few vultures flying beside the mountain listen.
“Human! Your not going to find your friend up here! If your looking for a human, maybe someone in GuttaTown may know since many professional humans and animals reside there” a single vulture responded to Akayle’s muttering.
“Mmmm. I didn’t think anyone was listening to me… care to point me in the direction of GuttaTown?”
“I could……”
Akayle immediately catches the vulture’s drift, and pulls out a granola bar from her pouch.
“Here, have this”
Without hesitation, the talking vulture grabs the granola bar and instructs Akayle to follow, then flies downwards the mountain towards GuttaTown, and without hesitation, Akayle follows and leaps into the bright sky casting a shadow over the ants and spiders below her.
Akayle’s massive Afro ponytail flickers in the sky as she spreads her arms like an eagle grasping the wind in her hands. Momentum builds as the air beats against her body and the joy on her face shows even with the pressure of wind distorting her whole face. As she is falling, the ants that she is looking at begins to grow and shrink in size as her eyes start to adjust as if they functioned like a telescope with multiple lenses.
The Vulture begin to worry while looking back at Akayle wondering if she can actually fly, then suddenly…
Swoooooft! Akayle is gliding with her glider that she holds in both hands like a parachute.
The vulture sigh in relief.
With the skill, Wind manipulation, Akayle is able to control the wind currents around her body by merging her natural energy with the surrounding wind, so she is able to blow powerful wind into the to the glider that allows her to go higher and faster. Also with another skill, Item enhancement, she is able to increase the durability and thickness of any item she touches by channeling her natural energy from her body to the glider preventing air from seeping through it. Though her mobility isn’t as agile as a bird, with these practised skills, Akayle soars through the sky with the vulture, observing the animals living their daily lives in the wilderness. She notices a bunch dung Beatles racing while rolling enormous balls of poop with a single scorpion watching, and they look like they’re having a blast. There are camels marching through the fields, lizards basking in the sun, and surprisingly there’s a small lemur drinking from a broken cactus but surprisingly there hasn’t been a single human in sight. Every few kilometres there are a few broken houses, but they all look abandoned, mouldy and smells like poop.
While gliding through the sky following the roads, Akayle begins to smile, noticing the small town off in the distance beside a large sea of water ,“That must be it!”.
“You see the town?”
“Yahh, it looks kinda run down.. Some houses have giant holes on the roofs and walls, and the electricity poles are knocked down.”
“Wow, those are some sharp eyes human, we still have about 7 minutes of flying till we reach there.”
“Thanks, I thank my momma for these eyes.” Akayle smiles “hey, you can turn back if you’d like. I can find my way from here.”
“Thanks human! I shall turn back then. Also Human, beware of predator animals. I hear human flesh is high on the market”
“Thanks for the warning! And Thankyou for your help, bye!”
“Safe travels”
The vulture makes an u turn while Akayle sails forward towards GuttaTown.
On landing in the centre of the roads, Akayle feels several chills repeatedly coursing down her spine. Rats scurry across the roads desperately looking for shelter, and on the road curbs you can see several shady looking people and animals hanging out in front of their tents and houses . The area looks like a small town that has been abandoned and replaced with a bunch of outcasted humans and dangerous animals that gaze at strangers like Akayle to make the surrounding air intimidating and cold.
She begins to search the town to find anyone who can help find her friend. While searching, she comes across a shop with a neat wooden patio that has wooden tables for the guest before entering the shop. The people on the patio were wild hairy humans armed various weapons and wild animals such as a grizzly bear, a fox, a cheetah, two wolves, three hyenas, nine crows hanging on the patio ledges , and a Jaguar with one ear in the corner, his right ear looks like it was bitten off. Everyone looks raggedy and tense while hanging out in front of the house. Though everyone person there looks hostile, this house is not as broken as the others, in fact, this house is the cleanest one in the town, someone interesting must be running this shop.
Cautiously and calmly, Akayle makes her way up the patios stairs. HISSSSSSSSSS, a snake jumps from the crease of the stairs the second Akayle touches the second step which is right within the snakes reach to bite her. Sswoooft, several plant vine rushes down Akayle’s legs from her small bag and wraps its self around the Snake’s body restraining him. The Snake Hisses again “Ssyouu have vinessss from the Queensss ssswampssss. Who are you?”. Everyone in front of the house watches Akayle in shock, while a few laugh. “Hfft, She has spunk” says the Jaguar.
The crows are very impressed “Any stranger entering GuttaTown should be interesting, I’m not surprised that the snake became the prey”
The Swamps is the boarder that separates the wilderness, and the regions that make up Canyon Dios from the Southern Lands. As the name says, this boarder is a swampy forest that traps anyone who ventures to deep in the Swamps. It’s filled with poisonous and non poisonous reptiles, bugs, spiders, and other exotic life such as trees and plants that varies in sizes. Some plants breath toxic gas, some feed on large creatures like an Elephant version of a Venus fly trap, a Venus elephant trap and all of the plants and trees are being controlled by a single scientist that survived and avoided the K.A.H virus attack. The scientist merged her body with a tree by mixing Klink with various compounds then merged tree and human DNA to create a super tree. During Akayle’s incredible journeys in the Swamps rescuing her brother’s friend Ee, she found many rare plants and was able to take a sapling home. After a few months passed, the sapling grew into a cool flower. The flower has one vine that grew tall and has a head that looks like the poisonous plant azalea. The neck of the flower has many vines that extends and functions like octopus hands with thorns and azalea’s head is a single bulb that opens and closes and inside is an exploding cucumber that shoots seeds and vines. Though the plant cannot speak, it has a mind of its own with a unique personality and it saw Akayle as its mother so she named it Azal. Azal hides in Akayle’s bag, absorbing Akayles natural energy that she emits from her body.
“I know your queen… Im just a young lady looking for a friend, I don’t want any problems…” the vines tighten on its grip around the Snake’s long body… HISSSSSSSSSSS.. Akayle looks around to notice everyone watching her. “Can anyone here help me find my friend? He’s a Human Lion, and he’s affiliated with the Lion Dutches army”. Azal loosens her grip and the Snake flees between the creases where he came from as Akayle asks her questions.
Akayle’s actions came off a-bit to confident and cocky and commotion begins to start
“Looking for the lions? Who the hell does this little girl think she is?” Says one human “she thinks she’s a bad ass teenager.” says another. “Shes not going to survive a day out here. She looks to tiny and clean.”.
The crows begin to dance, “KAWW!”, “fantastic!”, “Marvellous!”, “Her eyes are fierce.”,“it is fierce, she looks like a hawk!”,“An eagle!! Her eyes are sharp!”,“KAWWW, KAWWW”
“SHUT UP CROWS before I eat you..” says one of the hyenas.
All the crows begin to kaw louder in aggression.
Paw steps begin to make its way through the yelling crowd towards Akayle and stops in front of her. “Who do you think you are?” Says the Jaguar. Akayle looks the Jaguar in the eyes in the silence.
“Follow me” says the Jaguar.
Akayle responds, “Ok”
The Jaguar leaves the patio and walk Akayle to an empty alleyway.
In the dark alley way, the two stare at each other, inspecting the other to see if there’s any body or facial reaction. The wind blows by their still body moving only the hairs and clothing that stands on their skins…
“You should be more wary when you see wild animals girl. That house you walked into is a black market that has good prices for heads like yours”
“Don’t worry about me… but thanks for telling me… so can you help me?”
“I have business with the Lion King, Mahkulu. I know where they normally stay… your looking for a human amongst them?”
“Umm, yah. His name is Edward”
“Hfft, okay… I’ll help you find them, as long as you can use your thumbs to assist me on the way”
“That’s it? I thought you’d ask for more….”
“Well, I could eat you, but I think we can be of use to each other, as I do not have thumbs to access doors and other man made items as easy as you humans do.”
“Alright deal!”
The two begin to make their ways north from GuttaTown. Though they just met, the two work well together and were able to not be seen while moving . Akayle’s eyes were able to detect many things from a distance, and the Jaguar’s keen sent allows him to detect any predators or prey lurking in the shadows as Akayle covers him with her bow expertise. They cross highways to searched the abandon towns to scavenge through houses for food. They cross dry deserts, and decide to take a short cut by crossing a lake that brings them to the wet lands of Stonetalon mountains . The two learns and assists each other with no issues.
On arriving to their location, a quiet forest with a random stone hill that has holes that lead inside which may have hiding predators, the Jaguar tells Akayle to wait,“Your friends pride should cross this land mark. The lions marked their scents all over here. Sooner or later they should arrive.”
“Really? Thanks!”
“Yes, just don’t get eaten while waiting.. Thankyou for your assistance, I was able to fill my water bottle, and explore and try many things because of you.. farewell girl”
“Bye”.
The Jaguars mannerism was really good, and Akayle is impressed.
While waiting, Akayle lets out Azal who Immediately burrows her vines and roots into the soil, growing more vines to surround Akayle creating a defensive vine wall that can burrow as Akayle calmly sets up camp, she unloads her tools, food and tent. The food she has accumulated while travelling with the unnamed Jaguar should last a couple days so there shouldn’t be any issues waiting for a week at most.
Three days of waiting pass while Akayle rests comfortably awaiting the lions potential arrival.
Crack. A tree branch breaks, and several footsteps make its way to Akayle. Two lions charge from the forest shadows towards Akayle’s camp site. Their fangs are large, and aiming for Akayle’s defenceless neck. Just before they’re close enough to strike, four giant vines bursts from the floor, grabbing each lion holding them in the sky with ease. Akayle sits up chuckling and rubs her eyes… “goodmorning Lions… I’ve been expecting you”
One more lion leaps out of the sky to crush Akayle, swiftly she rolls over and grabs her Bow and arrow.
“Wait, please, I’m not here to fight, I’m looking for Edward!”
She then pulls out the heart shape necklace from her shirt revealing it to the lions. The lion standing on Akayle’s bed looks at the necklace.
“You have his mother’s necklace… you must be a friend.”
The Lion loosens his body and instructs all lions to stand down. Akayle signals Azal to let go of the lions and from the forest shadows three more lions emerge. If they all attacked, things may of ended ugly for Akayle.
“I apologize for attacking you, you must be young Edward’s friend. My name is K.T, the alpha of this small group”
“Yes I am! Is he alive? Is he with you?” Akayle’s face is filled with relief and curiosity for the whereabouts of her long time friend from her past.
“Do not worry, Edward is travelling with his father, the current lion king, king Mahkulu. Just wait for a hour, they should be behind us, this is one of the landmarks we all cross when travelling”
Without doubt, Akayle waits patiently for her friend as K.T and his group leaves.
Thirty minutes pass and a humanoid figure appears from the forest shadows.
“No way… it’s really you… the Jaguar wasn’t lying…” the shadow speaks with a familiar voice.
With glee and joy, Akayle jumps up, running towards the shadow without hesitation. Tears sprinkles from her eyes making them shiny and glowing with light, “Edward!!!”
Edward takes a step forward revealing him self.
Five years passed and the two friend are still delighted to see each other after all this time. Some friendships never die no matter what happens.
“The last time we seen each other, you told me to hold onto this necklace and never forget you, and we parted ways. I’ve never gave you anything, but yet you gave me this. Honestly, during my worst times, this necklace always reminded me to stay brave and have pride, because when no one is around to watch over you must remember who you are and stay true to that… Thankyou”
“Heh, no problem” Edward blushes and awkwardly scratches his messy hair. His face is covered in hair as if he was actually a lion.
“Let’s catch up, I have tons of snacks to share! And I wanna tell you about my adventures in Rokobesa”
“You went to Rokobesa!?”
“Well not on my own terms… I was kind of kidnapped…”
“Kidnapped?! Okay, where are the snacks?”
The two begin to laugh, and talk as if no time has interrupted their last conversation.
