A long, long time ago, humans had evolved without hair. They were very sleek and oh so smooth, and their skin was as soft as a baby's. They lived in harmony with the natural world, but they were also always very cold. There was no such thing as human fur to keep them warm, and they shivered and tried to huddle together for warmth, but would still freeze.
One day, a great and powerful creature came down from the sky to visit the humans. The creature had spent much time with the humans and was impressed by the their ability to learn new things and communicate. They had great intelligence and their ability to create tools and build shelters astounded the creature, but it was troubled by their constant shivering. It had caused several of the elderly to die and several of the young to get sick. The creature asked the leader of the humans why they did not have fur like the other Earth animals.
The human leader replied that they did not need fur because they had intelligence, and they could create warmth through fire and clothing. But the creature did not like this answer. It saw that the humans were missing something essential, something that all the other animals had. The creature explained that a lot of the elderly were dying and others were getting sick because despite clothing, people were still getting cold.
So the creature decided to give the humans fur. It went to the animals of the forest and asked them to each donate a piece of their fur to the humans. The animals were hesitant at first, because they didn’t trust the humans who hunted them, but the creature explained that the humans were intelligent and if they donated their fur to help the humans, he could pursuade them to hunt less. They could feel the creatures good aura and trusted the creature had good intentions, and donated some of their fur to the humans.
The animals gave their fur to the humans were protected from the human hunters for the duration of their lives, as promised.
The creature wove the fur together into a great magical coat and gave it to the humans as a gift. The humans put on the coat and felt the warmth spreading through their bodies. They ran their hands over the soft fur and marveled at its beauty. The magical fur infused to the humans head, armpits and midsection, and from then on, humans had fur.
The humans used the fur to stay warm and to protect themselves from all sorts of eldritch wether. A lot of humans became vegetarians to show respect for the animals who had given them this precious gift, and this was also the beginning of vegetarianism. This is why, to this day, humans have hair and a few are still vegetarians.
The creature was about to wander to other places of Earth to explore his new home, but the human leader said “wait, before you go, what should we call you? What is your name so we can remember this great gift you gave us?”
“We don’t have names on my planet because there’s so few of us we just point at each other. But on account of my big feet, you can call me Bigfoot,” the creature said and smiled, and another myth was born.
