Who was she?
At one o'clock in the night, when the whole city was fast asleep, Aditya was driving his car on the highway at a high speed. It was dark all around, only the headlights of his car were illuminating the road. Suddenly, a girl wearing a white saree was seen standing on the side of the road.
Her eyes were filled with a strange glow, as if she wanted to say something... or perhaps she was hiding something.
Aditya stopped the car and peeped out of the window and asked -
"What are you doing here at this time?"
The girl said in a low voice,
"I have to go home, can you drop me?"
Her face was shining in the light moonlight, and there was deep sadness in her eyes. Aditya felt strange, but he opened the door. The girl quietly sat on the back seat.
As the car moved forward, Aditya looked in the mirror - the girl's reflection was not visible. A strange fear had arisen in Aditya's mind. He had heard many such stories in his childhood. Aditya, in fear, quickly looked back. The girl was sitting there, but there was a strange emptiness in her eyes. Aditya increased the speed of the car a little more.
"Where is your house?" Aditya asked fearfully.
The girl told him the address of an old bungalow in a low voice, which was in a deserted area outside the city. Now it was certain that the girl was not ordinary. But Aditya was not in a position to do anything now.
When the car reached near that bungalow, Aditya saw - it was a desolate, broken house, which had been deserted for years.
"Is this your house?" Aditya asked nervously.
The girl nodded slowly and said,
"Yes, my family used to live here. But now I am alone..." The girl opened the car door and got down and moved towards that deserted bungalow. Aditya was not in a position to think anything at this time. His eyes were only on the bungalow. He couldn't see the girl anywhere. Just then a gust of wind came and an old newspaper cutting flew and stopped on the front screen of his car, in which there was a picture of the same girl and it was written -
"This girl's body was found in this bungalow 10 years ago!"
Aditya's blood froze. He looked around in fear but he couldn't see that girl.
Suddenly, a gust of cold wind came and a soft voice echoed in Aditya's ears -
"Thank you, you took me to my home..." Now you go away from here. The voice was definitely that of the same girl. Aditya's hair stood on end. Despite being very frightened, Aditya started the car with full force and ran away from there. His heart was beating out of control.
The next morning Aditya searched the old records of that area to know the truth of this incident. He found out that ten years ago a girl was mysteriously murdered in that bungalow. People say that her lover had cheated on her and ran away, and she could not bear the shock. But the case was never solved.
After that day, every year on the same date, that girl used to appear on the same road in a white saree and ask a passerby for help to get home. But whoever took her in the car, did not remember anything till the next day.
Aditya was shocked. He saw himself in the mirror, there was the same strange emptiness in his eyes, which was in that girl's eyes…
"Who was she?"
This question remains a mystery even today.
