By Johann HollarPublished 11 months ago 7 min read

"The Rock Houd is in place" Old Man Chang told Chu.

Chu was watching Mei Xiang with his only eye like a hawk with his arms folded and his face filled with contempt.

"Excellent, just say the words "would you like some wine? Maybe Pink Flower I will lead the Rock Hound gang to surround her" Chu replied plainly.

"You sound like you have a grudge against her" Chu answered back. "I am not paying you to settle a grudge, let alone destroy my business."

"It won't come to that" Chu said as he made his way downstairs.

Mei Xiang continued to play her song, even as some questionable looking men began to surround her, including a one-eyed individual. She finished her song.

"Didn't know rough looking men like you enjoyed music" Mei asked one-eye.

"We're not here for your music Mistress of the White Crane" Chu replied. "You're up to no good and as the head bodyguard for this brothel, it's my job to make sure you don't try anything" he continued on as he pointed his thumb at the rough men. "My men here, along with members of the Rock Hound gang are here to ensure that."

"Then I guess I'll have to entertain you and your men" she answered back as she put away her flute into her robes and out a pair of Deer Horn Knives. Chu pulled out his short swords while his men and the members of the Rock Hound drew their weapons. Just as customers became nervous at current events, a ruckus began outside.

People in shoddy clothes with deadly looking weapons and rage in their faces were charging in. Patrons scattered and fled for their lives. Some of the people in shoddy clothes were beating up on the patrons while others were shouting for someone.

"Stop this filth from destroying the place" Chu barked to his men as they scattered to do what they were told. Chu looked back at Mei "You and I have a score to settle" as he brought up his swords.

"He was supposed to wait for my command. I'm ruined." Old Man Chang replied in shock.

"Your ruined?" What about me?" Madame Huang spat back as a few people in shoddy clothes made their way up the stairs.

"There they are" an old man shouted. "You took my daughter from me" he said angrily told Chang.

"I never forgave you for the scars you helped give me" a middle-aged woman snarled towards Madame Huang. Both the old man and the woman walked towards both Chang and Huang.

"Now good sir, we can be reasonable" Old Man Chang replied in terror as he was shaking his hands wildly, even as the angry man continued to grip his axe tightly.

"Just like you were reasonable when you forced me to sell my daughter to save my home?" The old man replied with anger in his voice as he continued his approach

"I remember you. Jade Lotus?" Madame Huang replied in mixture of shock and desperation upon facing the angry woman with the knife.

"I am surprised you remember" the woman replied acidly. "The scars you, helped the previous madame give me, the money you took from me to keep me from my freedom and of course how you took the best clients while I got the worst" she finished.

"Can't we just let bygones be bygones?" Old Man Chang put his hands together begging.

"Can't we just put the past behind us?" Madame Huang replied desperately.

"NO" both the old man and woman replied at the same time.

The old man swung his axe into Chang's chest, crying out in pain as the axe went into him and causing him to bleed out and fall to his knees. The Old Man swung again, this time causing Chang to bleed out even more. Chang tried to stop the bleeding in his chest with right hand while raising his left hand as if he were asking for mercy.

He was given none by the Old Man. He proved that by bring the axe down unto Chang's head. Not splitting in half, but enough to make it the final blow

The middle-aged woman stabbed Madame Huang in the gut, causing her great pain. Not as much as when she was began stabbing Madame Huang repeatedly even after the madame had been dead.

A hand grabbed the middle-aged woman's knife hand as she was about to stab Madame Huang's corpse again. It was Yang.

"She's already dead. You've had your vengeance" Yang replied calmly to the middle-aged women, whose face was covered in tears, sweat, hair and a sad rage. "If you want to do some good, help out the other villagers" he concluded as the Old Man with the axe wipe the blood off his face with a random piece of cloth. He approached Yang and the middle-aged woman.

"Come Lotus, let's get our daughter back" the Old Man held out his hand to her.

Chu's sword strikes were impressive as far as Mei could tell, but at some point, there would have to be a moment where he would let his guard down. She just had to find that time, but for now, she had to keep deflecting his attacks with her Deer Horn Knives.

"Your master took my eye" Chu said with hate in his voice "now I plan to take his student's life" he lunged at her with his swords in an X-like pattern.

"So that explains what you are coming at me like the wind" Mei replied as she did a spinning fly leap over him. "Here I thought you were just some hired scum" she replied as she Chu sneered.

"This hired scum will take your head" he swung at her with his left sword repeatedly causing her to dodge. "And then bring it to your master" he then started swinging rapidly with his right arm causing her to deflect the attacks with her deer horn knives poorly. "Then kill him to avenge the loss of my eye" he roared as he swung both swords at her wildly every which way possible.

"Sifu really gave him a big chip on his shoulder" Mei thought to herself between Chu's slashes and her deflecting such attacks. She then had an idea.

"I bet Sifu had a good reason for taking your eye" Mei chuckled back at Chu. The man rushed at her with an angry face, she sidestepped him, causing him to stumble past her. Her plan was working.

"I bet the loss of your eye puts off a lot of women, leaving you only with the least desirable women" she joked with him again as he snarled and came at her again, only his attacks were being sloppy rather than serious. He let himself open for a moment in which took advantage of it by slashing at his left arm, causing him to drop his sword. She needed only one more push.

"I bet if I lost an eye, I'd still be much prettier looking than you" saying that with a smirk.

Chu roared as he came at her with his remaining sword pointed at her like a spear. She sliced his sword hand off with her one Deer Horn knife and then the other across his throat. Chu fell to his knees gasping for air and then slumped to the floor dead.

She walked up to his corpse and gave a kick to see if he was really dead, she confirmed that he was and then preceded to a nearby table where there was a clean cloth which she picked up to clean off her knives. She sheathed her knives and just as she was leaving, she noticed a small jug of wine one of the tables that hadn't been uncorked. She figured that since she had a rough night, she could use a drink. Just as she continued towards the main entrance, Yang approached her.

"All the village girls have been saved. Even several of the patrons were mugged" he replied while cupping his hands and holding his sword.

"Good to hear that it all went well" Mei replied with a smile as she continued onwards towards the main entrance. The villagers and their daughters feel to their knees bowing before Mei Xiang in respect for saving/helping them.

She noticed the old man, she then preceded to help him to his feet.

"We are truly indebted to you Madame, if there is any way we can repay you, we would be only too happy to help" he replied.

Mei Xiang smiled "For now I need only ask: have you pilfered the brothel's wine storage?"

"We have indeed" the middle-aged woman replied as she showed Mei Xiang towards the carts. There were many carts filled with various goods from the brothel, but the first three carts that carried the jugs of wine were what she wanted.

She grabbed a small one and handed it to Yang, he smiled in reply. She then grabbed another one.

"Take the rest, enjoy yourselves, you earned this" Mei Xiang said to the crowd as they clapped in reply. She began to walk away when Yang stopped her with his free hand.

"Where are you going mistress?"

"Go with the villagers. My martial sister Jingfei should have finished her part by now, so therefore she deserves a reward" Mei Xiang replied as she left the crowd down the empty streets. When she was out of Yang's sight he turned around to join the villagers back home.
