Whispers from the Moon

By Paige L. Haynes

Bioluminescent’s sparkling atop the still water,

Lightly watching the little blue stars dance in dazzeling hypnotic motions,

Dipping my hand gently into the enchanted waters slowly swirling my fingers,

Watching the small lights circle lightly in synchronous motions above my hand.

Removing my swim suit cover I walked into the warm sea savoring each step.

The ocean has always been my place, my sanctuary and it felt like home.

The night was warm and still, the full glowing moon reflecting in the distance,

The sounds of life hiding in the forest that flourishes around this beautiful magical place.

I don’t know if it was how entranced I was by the beauty surrounding me,

Or the sounds playing in my mind from the life going on around me,

But as I was standing ashore letting the waves lightly roll over my feet

Looking at the stars, a light warm hand brushed against mine.

Embracing the moment without looking at the stranger invading my sanctuary

I let the strangers fingers lightly intertwine with mine.

We stood for a time, maybe seconds, minutes, hours, of that I will never know.

I confidently turned looked at the stranger, who was looking at me already,

Eyes perfectly fixed on mine, bright and full of wonder.

Staring at this man I felt home.

He finally broke me out of my trance by asking how I came to be on his property.

And so I told him my true but a little hard to believe reason.

In a dream a voice whispered, search and you will find, find and you will find peace,

Your peace is a soul that matches yours, In your childhood secrete place,

His home is standing in the bioluminescent water, beneath the full moon.

He stared at me in awe for a short moment when he said,

I believe you, I too had a dream the same as yours, only the voice was yours,

Calling me to my old family home.

In that moment we took each other in each others arms.

We found the missing pieces of our souls that day, and we now lay on the beach every full moon, taking in our magical sanctuary, our home.
