What was I just thinking about?
My thoughts stretch with my slowing breaths until I forget where they started.
I return to my tiny desk, still there, decades later.
I can't read the words, I don't understand the lesson, but I watch the clock.
The bell rings.
I run out of class, leap over the playground fence, and soar over the rooftops.
I fly to meet my favorite cloud halfway down the rain-shined hills.
I reach out and squeeze it like a misty blanket.
The sun warms my cheek.
I'm home again.
