Part 1

It’s not easy finding love in a town full of supernaturals but if you know what you are looking for then you should find the right one for you, I found a great guy a few years ago named Grant Jones; I mean sure he howls at the moon and has to hide in the woods once a month but he is still a great guy. We met when I was representing his company in a lawsuit, he owns a security company with a few of his friends from college and someone was trying to stiff him on a payment. It was love at first sight for me at least but that is what happens when you’re a hopeless romantic like myself; I was on my way home from picking up food from his favorite restaurant and something felt off. I didn’t know what I was going to be walking into but I really wasn’t prepared for what I saw, he was in the living room with one of his clients and they were in a very intimate position. I didn’t think about anything but getting out of there, I ran to my car but he was right behind me, he didn’t even bother to put on any pants, he just raced out after me, I didn’t want to hear anything he said so I took his voice with a spell.

I go in my car but he would not give up, he tried to rip the car door off but I just pushed him back towards the house with a wave of my hand, he went flying towards the front door and I drove off without looking back, I needed a place to stay for a few days. I went to see one of my besties from college Rose Smith, she was a five-star chef with her own restaurant, I knew she would be on my side and let me stay with her, I called her on the way there and told her I was coming so got everything ready for me. When she opened the door and saw how I looked she hugged me tight and told me everything was going to be alright; she had gone through this a few times and that made her jaded to love and dating.

“I knew there was something about him that I didn’t like”, she stated as we were eating ice cream on her living room floor.

“I like everything about him”, I said as I felt the tears starting to fall again.

“Don’t cry girl, he is not worth it, you can find a new one just like that”, did I even want to find a new one.

“I think I am just going to lay low for a while and try to figure some things out before I start looking again”, I had to figure out what went wrong first.

“Well you can stay as long as you need to, and if you want to shrink his dick with a spell just let me know” she smiled at the last part, I knew she meant it about both parts but I was not going to hurt this man's junk out of pain, I would just simply walk away.

Part 2

It has been three weeks since I caught my ex cheating on me, I found a nice-sized apartment in the city and I magically clean my stuff out of the place I and him were sharing, she tried to call me when he noticed my stuff disappearing from the house. I, of course, ignored all his calls but after the fifth day of him calling while I was gathering my stuff I had had enough and just picked up, nothing he said was going to change my mind about anything so I let him speak.

“What do you want Grant and why do you keep calling me?”, I was firm and straight to the point.

“Where are you?”, I magically blocked him from finding my location with his wolf powers.

“If you are not going to talk then I will hang up and I won't pick up again”, I gave him a warning.

“Fine, I just want the chance to try to explain what happened that night”

“You mean the night I caught you howling into a client's full moon”

“I know I fucked up but I want to talk, can we please meet up and talk”, I was not going to see him.

“We are talking right now, so explain or goodbye”

“Fine, I had a business dinner with a client, I had a little too much to drink and one thing lead to another, I am truly sorry that it happened”, that was bull, I remember that night and there was no smell of alcohol on his breath, why was he lying, that only made it worst.

“Lying is only going to things worst, so do insult my intelligence by doing so”

“Your right, I wasn’t drinking, I needed to get some because you haven’t been exactly open to it lately”

“And that’s your excuse, I wasn’t in the mood so you find someone who is, and for the record, I had been swamped with work and I was coming home that night with food and sex to surprise you, you know what I’m done, bye”, I hung up the phone and finished gathering my stuff, what I didn’t want I just made disappear so he had no reason to try to call or see me again.

I was done with this sorry excuse for a wolf, I was going to move on and find someone better than him, and I wasn’t going to feel sorry about it, I had spent to last three weeks crying over this man and I was done with the tears, he could howl at some other woman’s moon now. My first step in getting over this man was to go out and meet new people, I was going to do all the things I thought about doing when I was young but was too afraid to do.

Part 3

The first person I thought of when I decided that I was going to start this new journey with no inhibitions was my other bestie from college Naydeen Brown who was a big-time public relations person working for one of the biggest companies in the city. She was always ready for a good time and knew all the right people to make sure nothing got out that was not supposed to get out, she did so much stuff that I was surprised she never slipped up once. We were going to be going out that night so I went over to her place to get ready; she took one look at my outfit choice and cringed, she wanted me to dress a bit more slutty like she did, but I was not sure about that.

“Girl, we are going to a club, not a knitting circle, although that is fun, come one and live a little”, she was right as usual.

“ I know but I just feel more comfortable wearing this tonight”

“I thought you were going to be letting your inhibitions go for a while, we are not old yet so let's have a little fun while we can”, once again she had a point.

“You are right, I do need to loosen up a bit, what did you have in mind?”, she just smiled at me and went into her closet.

When she emerged from her huge closet she had a skimpy red dress and a pair of red hills that I knew would kill my feet the second they were on; she handed me both and said to go into the bathroom and put them on, I did as I was told and a few minutes later we were on our way out. We got a driver for the evening so that we would not be drinking and driving; we pulled up to this club that looked the ones to always see in movies with the line of people outside. We walked right up to the doorman and he let us through, apparently, while I was in the bathroom getting changed she had made a phone call and got us on the list at the door, I didn’t question how I just went with it. The first thing I wanted to do was find a place to sit and order me a drink, if I was going to do this I was not going to be sober, I needed to lose myself for a while and a club was going to be where I did it. I guess I was too focused on finding a place to sit that I didn’t even notice Grant watching me from across the room, I am not sure what made me notice but I did and I was ready to leave the second I did, I tried to tell Naydeen but she already chatting up some woman at the bar.

Part 4

I was trapped in a club with my ex who cheated on me while my friend tried to pick a girl from the bar and to top it all off I am wearing a dress that is too short and too tight with heels that are going to cut off the circulation to my feet soon. If was not going to be able to leave then I would just ignore him and put my plan into action, I would dance with the first guy to come up and ask me, and luckily with this dress, I didn’t have to wait long. Some guy with a gold chain and way too much body spray came up and started talking to me, I couldn’t hear a word he was saying because o the smell so I just magically sent some of the smell away and asked him if he wanted to dance. He looked me up and down and then agreed, I put all my energy into making myself forget that my ex was staring at me because I wanted this night to be about me and me only. However, he had other plans because the second he saw me head to the dance floor with this guy his ears perked up and when I began to grind on the man he completely lost it, it was a split second between me dancing with the guy and the guy flying across the room.

“What the hell is your problem Grant?”, I made sure to slow the room down so I could have this conversation with Grant.

“He was getting too close to you, I had to do something”

“So you throw him across the room, besides, who I get close to is none of your business”, he has no claim over me.

“I was looking out for you, that guy could have put something in your drink”

“And you think I didn’t know that, look, just stay away from me and stop trying to help me”, with that I reset the room and went back to dancing with the guy while grant just looked on in anger, I knew he was going to keep trying to get me back but I was not going to give in. I left that night with the guy with too much body spray and I had my one-night stand, I didn’t feel bad about it, Grant called every day for the next few days and even began calling my friends. I have not given up on love, I have just decided to take a break for a while because I deserve to have a little fun like Naydeen said, I am not old and I should have fun while I still can. So even when love slaps you across the face on its way out the door, it will always come back and kiss it to make it better again, so don’t be so quick to give up it when it has hurt you so many times before.
