Unique condition

There lived a landlord in a village. The landlords name was Sujan Singh. A landlord named Tajbar Singh lived far away from Sujan Singhs village. Sujan Singh and Tajbar Singh were close friends. Tajbar Singh had a son. His name was Sudeep. The day Sudeep was born, Sujan Singh came to see Sudeep. Seeing Sudeep, Sujan Singh said to Tajbar Singh Friend If a girl is born in my house, I will give my daughter for your son. After some time, a daughter was born in Sujan Singhs house. He named the daughter Kabootri.

Soon both of them became marriageable. The date of their marriage was fixed. Sujan Singh and Tajbar Singh were very fond of betting. They used to bet with each other. The one who lost the bet would give money to the other as a penalty. Sujan Singh asked Tajbar Singh about the wedding of Sudeep and Kabutari – How many guests are you bringing with you

A full hundred – Tajbar Singh said.

Okay, we will arrange for a hundred guests but our condition is that all the guests should be meat eaters. All the guests in the wedding procession should be young. No old man should come.

Sujan Singh knew about Tajbar Singhs conditions. He had already been entangled in Tajbar Singhs conditions many times. He understood that Tajbar should not entangle the young guests in any condition. Therefore, he sent an old man of the village to the wedding procession by hiding him inside a kandha (an object made of ringal for storing things). That kandha was covered. Holes were made in it for the old man to see and breathe. Tajbar Singh had put a condition that no old guest should come to the wedding procession. Therefore, Sujan Singh sent such an old man to the wedding procession who was also invited by the girls family (Tajbar Singh).

The baraat reached Tajbar Singhs house from Sujan Singhs house. Tajbar Singh welcomed the baraatis warmly. He said to the guests Look, brother We had already said that all the baraatis should be meat eaters. That is why we have arranged for a hundred goats for a hundred guests. Our condition is that every goat will be slaughtered and no meat should be left over. The young guests in the baraat were stunned to hear Sujan Singhs condition. They thought A hundred goats means one guest will have to eat one goat. How is this possible Finally they asked the solution to this from the old guest who had brought it hidden in a dung cake he said Tell the girls family to tie a hundred goats in a line. First slaughter one goat. Cook its meat and feed all the guests. Every guest will get a little meat in his share. In this way slaughter one goat each one by turn. Cook its meat and feed it to the guests.

The young guests told this to Tajbar Singh. He understood that there must be an old man in the baraati. Such advice can only be given by an old and experienced man. He searched and saw an old man hiding inside the Kanda. The old man came out of the Kanda. Seeing the old man, Tajbar Singh said to the guests Brother You have cheated in the condition. We had said that no old man should come as a baraati. Look at this old man.

I am not a baraati, I am a gharaati (from the girls side). That is why the condition has been fulfilled. said the old man.

But why were you hiding inside the Kanda on hearing this question of Tajwar Singh, the old man said Just like you are fond of betting on bets, similarly I am fond of coming to the baraati by hiding inside the Kanda.

Tajbar Singh and all the baraatis laughed on hearing the old mans words.
