Hello my name is Iris and I am about to tell you how the world went mad and how a heart necklace solves it all., but we won’t get to this right now let’s start from the beginning.

Iris was watching her sister in the living room with cable on. She had headphones in, when she got up and went to the kitchen to pour herself some cereal when she heard a crash.

“Hey!, if you want some cereal too just say so, don’t break anything!”

Iris took out her head phones and heard nothing, no little sister breaking or banging. No tv sounds. “It was too quiet,” she said. Iris’s house is never quiet. Iris walked to the living room and she saw something that made her break inside….her sister was gone, there was glass on the carpet. She had to think quickly. Iris ran upstairs to see her parents… GONE and glass shattered on the floor. Iris ran back down stairs and looked out the broken window to see a black truck about to pull off, she heard her sister calling her name but it was muffled.

“Iri-“ she was cut off, they closed the door in Mia’s face

Iris unlocked the door and ran to the truck. She opened the back of it, hopped in and closed it back. She saw a heart necklace in a clear box. She knew it was significant so she could use it as leverage to get some answers later. She put it on and tucked it under her shirt. A minute later the truck pulled off, Iris was scared of what could happen not only to her but if this was happening to others. But the strange thing was that she didn’t hear any other cars. Where she lived you would always hear cars honking every minute or so. The truck stopped abruptly. She heard people walking out of the truck and heard talking, it was her mom

“Where’s my daughter? She was in the house too.”

The man spoke back.

“It doesn’t matter wherever she was in that house we put gas in there, she should already be dead.”

“Wha- no, no no,” she wailed

Iris slowly peaks from behind the door and sees some men in black suits holding her family. They start walking into a huge building, shortly after Iris walks behind them making sure no one can see her. They finally got in the building. There were long hallways with rooms. A tall man was speaking to other men in suits, and Iris tried to get closer.

“Was the nova gas thrown in all the homes in this city?”

The man in the suit responded

“1 neighborhood left “

“Good because they were most Likely exposed to the virus, the gas only brought us time to grab people who weren’t,” the tall man said.

“What” iris said to herself.

Iris was confused if there was a virus why didn’t they tell anyone. Iris walked up to the man, pulled off the heart necklace and said.

“What virus and what does this have to do with it , why is my family involved?”

The men in the suits started to walk up to Iris. The tall man put his hand up and the men backed up. Hello my name is Rodrick Huntsman, Rodrick reaches for the necklace.

“I believe this is mine, thank you” Rodricks says.

Iris holds the necklace farther back and says.

“No one’s getting this necklace till I get answers!”

Iris looks her mom and nods

Rodrick sighs.

“Fine, most of this state is affected by a virus, it will kill you but you will come back to life but craving flesh. So we are throwing something called nova gas in the streets to keep them dead for a short while so we can prepare. We grabbed your family along with others because your family out of 2% of families in this city was not infected. We needed to save as many people as we could.”

Iris gives him a weird glare and says,

“Ok...but what does this necklace have to do with it?”

Rodrick takes the necklace and gives the men in the black suit a hand gesture. They take Iris and her family into a room in the back with dim light that flickers constantly. One of the men came in there and stood by the door with a big gun across his body. Iris cringes and whispers to herself.

“Now how do I get out?”.

She looked around to see if she could do anything, she spotted an old metal pole in a corner. She discretely told Mia to grab it while she distracted the guard. Mia slowly started walking towards the pole. While Iris walks to the guard and says

“So what’s the necklace for…. is it like a cure for something, or something special inside…… like I don’t know a cure. “

While she’s talking she’s snapping and clasping her hand. Mia sneaks up behind Iris and hands her the pole.

And guard sees what there doing and says

“You know I can see what’s happening, give it to me”

He puts out his hand and Iris hands him the pole

“The necklace does have a mini bottle with a cure inside, the scientists started making a cure couple years ago and finished it last year, just in time I might say.” The guard says.

Iris gives the guard a confused look and says

“But it’s not going to be enough for everyone”

The guard sighs and respond in a annoyed tone

“Yes we know that, our scientist needs that necklace so he can duplicate the formula… now be quiet”.

Iris sat on the floor and pats the floor, her family sat in a circle. She looks at her family and says.

“They are making a cure for this, turns out they starting making one a couple years ag-“

Her dad cuts her off

“So wait they knew this virus was going to happen, why didn’t they warn everyone years before we could have prevented it and quarantined while they made the cure.”

Her mom says.

“They probably didn’t know how bad it was going to get.” Her dad says

The guard walks over and sits down and says.

“I heard Rodrick doesn’t want to give the infected people the cure but I stole it” the guard says while holding the necklace up.

They all give the guard a shocked look. Iris thought to herself

“That's why he took my necklac-“ Iris says

“Wait a second are you helping us”? Iris continues

“Because we all want the same-“the guard says

Banging coming from the front of the building, they all ran out of the room to see where it was coming from to only see the infected people banging on the windows and doors. There were other families that came running out.

Iris points at the guard.

“I need you to check how the cure is doing, I’m guessing it’s about ten infected people out there maybe more” Iris says

“But don’t we need weapons?” Mia says

“Why would we need weapons if we have a cure? We need to keep them alive!” Iris responds

Iris walks into a room with a desk, chairs and book. She saw Rodrick.

“Why make a cure if you're not going to use it on the infected?” Iris says

“We didn’t expect this many people to be infected”. Rodrick says as he’s reaching into his drawer. He has a confused look while saying.

“Where is the necklace?” Rodricks shouts

Iris starts to back while saying

“I….don’t…..know”

Iris runs out of the room and goes to the group and says.

“Rodrick is coming, mom I need you to go get the cure and dad go get the pole from in that room!”

Her mom and dad ran to get what they needed, a minute later they came running. Iris meets up with them in the middle when Rodrick ran in and so did the infected.

“Try to knock them out but don’t kill them I’ll be back!” Iris says

Iris ran to Rodricks office to look for some type of dart gun, hoping he has one.She noticed a drawer in the back with some family photos on top. She opened it and saw a key.

“A key but for what and where?”

She flipped the key over and saw the word storage closet. Just then Rodrick let out a loud shriek.

“Ahhhhheh!” Rodrick wailed

“He’s been bit….Iris!” Iris’s mom yelled.

“Uhm….put him in a room and lock him in there!” Iris yelled back.

Iris ran around the back of the building looking for a storage closet, a couple minutes later of searching she finally found one. She walked in and noticed a black safe with a keyhole. She put it in and it turned, she whisper to herself

“Please, please be a dart gun”

She opens it and……… it’s a dart gun

“They must have had this for the cure” Iris says to herself.

She runs back to the group only to see chaos, she sees her dad pinned by one of the infected only thing between them was the pole.

“Mom, hand me a vial!” Iris says with fear.

Her mom handed her a vial, she put it in the dart gun, she aimed at the infected and shot it. Within seconds it finally fell on the floor. Her mom handed her 2 more, iris slipped them into the gun. She aimed and fired.

They did this 15 times till it was quiet, no more infected.

“What about Rodrick ?” Mia says

“As long as he’s locked we’ll be fine”. Iris says with relief

Iris’s dad opens the door, they see a crowd full of infected.

Iris chuckled and said

“This is going to be one heck of a ride”.
