Two Friends, One Enemy

A Story of Friendship, Betrayal, and Survival

By Muhammad yarPublished 4 months ago 3 min read

Ali and Bilal were best friends since childhood. They lived in the same small village, studied in the same school, and even shared their toys when they were little. Their bond was strong, and everyone in the village admired their friendship.

Ali was brave and outgoing. He loved challenges and never feared anything. Bilal, on the other hand, was calm and thoughtful. He liked to plan before doing anything. Together, they made a perfect team—Ali with courage, Bilal with wisdom.

But in the same village, there was a boy named Kamran. He was jealous of Ali and Bilal’s friendship. Kamran was always alone, and instead of making his own friends, he spent time thinking about how to break Ali and Bilal apart. His heart was full of envy, and he became their hidden enemy.

The Beginning of Trouble

One day, Ali and Bilal decided to start a small business. They planned to buy fruits from nearby farms and sell them in the town market. Both were excited because this business could change their lives. Ali said, “With my energy and your clever ideas, we can do anything!” Bilal smiled and agreed.

Kamran heard about their plan. He didn’t like it. He thought, If they succeed, everyone will praise them even more, and I will be ignored. His jealousy grew stronger. So, he made a plan to create distance between them.

Planting the Seed of Doubt

Kamran went to Bilal first. He whispered, “Bilal, don’t you see? Ali is using you. He just wants your money and ideas. When the business grows, he will push you aside.”

Bilal didn’t believe him at first, but the words stayed in his mind. Then Kamran went to Ali and said, “Ali, Bilal is smarter than you. People will give him all the credit. He doesn’t really need you in this business.”

Ali laughed it off, but later he started thinking: What if Bilal really takes all the credit?

The poison of doubt entered their friendship. Slowly, small arguments began. If a fruit basket fell, Ali blamed Bilal. If money was short, Bilal suspected Ali. Kamran smiled from a distance, happy to see cracks in their bond

The Breaking Point

One day, they had a big fight over money. Ali shouted, “You don’t trust me at all!” Bilal replied angrily, “And you don’t respect me!”

They decided to end the business and stop talking to each other. Their friendship of years was broken in just a few weeks.

Kamran felt victorious. He thought, Now they are no longer friends, and I have won.

The Test of Survival

Soon after, a terrible flood hit the village. Heavy rains destroyed homes, farms, and roads. People were running to save their lives. Ali and Bilal were also in danger, but they were not together anymore.

Ali was trapped on one side of the river, while Bilal was on the other. Kamran, too, was stuck, but he only cared about saving himself.

When the water level rose higher, Bilal saw Ali struggling to hold onto a tree. His heart softened. Despite their fight, he could not watch his best friend die. He ran, tied a rope to a strong pole, and threw it across the river. Ali caught it and with Bilal’s help, crossed safely.

Ali, gasping for breath, looked at Bilal and said, “You saved my life. Even after all our fights, you didn’t leave me.” Bilal replied, “Because true friendship never ends, Ali. We were foolish to let someone come between us.”

At that moment, they realized who had been poisoning their bond—Kamran.

Facing the Enemy

The flood water pushed Kamran towards danger. He shouted for help, but no one came. Ali and Bilal looked at him. They both knew he had caused their pain, but Bilal said, “We cannot let him die. If we do, we will be like him.”

Together, they saved Kamran too. When Kamran stood on safe ground, he was ashamed. He said in a low voice, “I was your enemy. I tried to break you, but today you saved my life. I don’t deserve your friendship, but I will never harm you again.”

Ali said firmly, “Remember, Kamran, jealousy destroys people. If you want peace, learn to be happy for others.”

A New Beginning

After the flood, the village slowly returned to life. Ali and Bilal restarted their business, this time with more trust and care. Their bond became even stronger than before.

Kamran kept his promise. He stopped creating problems and worked on changing himself. Though he never became their closest friend, he learned to respect them.

Ali and Bilal proved that true friendship can survive even betrayal and danger. Their story taught the whole village a lesson:

“Two friends can overcome even the strongest enemy if they stand together.”
