Trixie Familiar & her Moon Witch Luna
By Sergio VanNess
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. I awaken from my nap on a soft bed of trash bags. It was my favorite time of the day because everything around me transformed into a magical world. I would watch from the rooftops as the clouds swirled and twirled, creating a magical display that left me in awe. As a stray cat living on the streets of the city, I have seen this dance many times. No matter how many times I see it, it never gets old. I am Trixie, a stray cat. I have been living on my own for as long as I can remember, and I have learned to fend for myself in this unforgiving environment. This city is filled with all sorts of wonders, from flying cars to talking robots, but I still prefer the simple pleasures of life on the streets. I roam the alleyways and observe the people going about their daily lives, always searching for scraps of food to sustain me.
I couldn't help but wonder about the magic that surrounded me. I had seen some strange things during my time on the streets, but I still didn't understand how it all worked. One night, I was watching the sky's dance from my trash perch on a rooftop when I heard the sound of footsteps approaching. I hopped down from my perch and I make my way down the alleyway, keeping an eye out for anything that might be of interest. The air is thick with the scent of food, and my stomach growls in response. As I approach, the group eating some sort of fish. My mouth waters as I watch them take each bite. Maybe they'll share with me if I'm lucky.
Suddenly, I heard the rustling of a nearby bench, and I turned to see a young girl with curly pastel pink hair with stripes of royal purple & bright green eyes sitting on a bench nearby. She's staring up at the sky with a look of wonder on her face. I can't help but be curious about her. She was holding a small paper bag filled with fish, and feeding the birds that had gathered around her. I was intrigued and decided to go down and investigate. I approached her, hoping she had some food to spare.
She didn't notice me at first and she pulled out a small container of fish from her bag. She didn't seem dangerous, but you can never be too careful on the streets. She held out a piece of fish, and I sniffed it warily. It smelled fresh and delicious. I approach her cautiously, but the smell of the fish is too tempting to resist.
"Hey there," I meow, trying to get her attention. "Hello," I said, approaching the girl cautiously. "My name is Trixie. What's yours?". The girl looks down at me and smiles.
The girl turned to me and smiled. "Hi!, Are you hungry? Would you like some dinner? Would you like some fish?" She asked.
My heart races with excitement as she offers me a piece of the fish. I hesitated for a moment, not used to humans asking me questions. But something about Luna's kindness made me want to trust her. My mouth watered, and I couldn't resist. I was hungry, so I meowed in agreement. "Yes, please," I said, feeling grateful for the girl's generosity.
As she pulls out the small container filled with fish pieces. "Here you go, little one," she said as she handed me a fish from her bag. "Go ahead, take it," she said. "I won't hurt you."
I take it gently & tentatively took the fish from her hand, I take a few bites, and purr in appreciation. "Thanks," I said, my mouth full. "Mmm, this is delicious." I say.
She looks at me curiously shocked just now realizing and asks, "CAN YOU TALK?!"
I pause for a moment, unsure of how to respond. It's not often that humans can understand my language.
"Yes, I can talk," I reply tentatively.
Her eyes widen in amazement. "That's incredible!" The girl smiled again. "It's nice to meet you, what's your name? I'm Luna. Do you live around here?"
I shrugged. "As I said before, I'm Trixie. I live wherever I can find food and shelter," I said. "I don't really have a home."
Luna frowned. "That sounds sad," she said. "Don't you want a place to call your own?"
I shook my head. "It's not that simple," I said. "I have to look out for myself on the streets."
Luna nodded understandingly. "I get it," she said. "But you know, I'm going to be a magician someday. Maybe I could use my magic to help animals like you. Are you watching the clouds too?"
"Yes." I replied as I ate, Luna told me about her dream of becoming a magician while watching the purple clouds dance in the sky and I couldn't help but feel skeptical. She wanted to learn how to use magic to help others and make the world a better place.
Luna seems nice enough, but I'm not used to making friends. It's too dangerous to get too close to humans. They can be unpredictable, and not everyone likes cats. Luna started to reach out to pet me & my eyes widen. "It's ok... Oh my that's a 3rd eye, what pretty eyes you have." As she pets me I start to purr wrapping my tails around me.
"So, what are you looking at up there?" I ask, trying to make conversation.
"The stars," Luna replies. "I love looking at the stars. I want to be a magician someday and use magic to explore the universe."
I can't help but scoff at her dream. I raised an eyebrow skeptically, surprised at the girl's ambition. I was skeptical of her dream and I didn't want to see Luna get hurt. "Magic is dangerous," I said, licking my paw. "It's unpredictable and can cause a lot of harm. You should stay away from it," I replied, finishing up the fish. "Thanks for the meal."
Luna giggled. "No problem. I love feeding the animals in the park. I even want to become a magician so that I can help them even more."
We chatted for a few more minutes, and Luna told me more about her magic aspirations. She shook her head with disagreement & looked at me earnestly with determination in her eyes. "I understand that, Trixie. But I believe that magic can also be used for good. And I want to be one of the good ones. I want to use it to make a difference in the world. Imagine being able to heal someone with just a wave of your hand, or make someone's day brighter with a simple spell. It can make the world a better place."
I didn't know what to say to that. I've seen the dangers of magic firsthand. Still, there was something in her eyes that made me want to believe in her. I wasn't sure what to make of Luna's dream. I could see the passion in Luna's eyes. We talked for a while longer before I had to go back to my rooftop.
I didn't know what to say to that, so we sat in silence for a while, watching the purple clouds dance in the sky. As Luna got up to leave, she turned to me and said, "It was nice talking to you, Trixie. I hope we can meet again."
"Well, happy hunting Luna," I say, getting up to leave. "Thanks for the fish." I'm not sure what to make of Luna's idealism. It's foreign to me, and I can't understand why she would risk everything to pursue such a dangerous path. I'm impressed by Luna's optimism and determination. Perhaps there is some truth to what she says about magic. Luna and I bid each other goodbye and part ways.
Luna smiles and waves goodbye as I disappear into the shadows. As I walk away, I can't shake the feeling that there's more to Luna than meets the eye. Perhaps I'll see her again one day and find out. I couldn't shake off the feeling of curiosity that was gnawing at me. Maybe Luna was onto something. Maybe there was more to magic than what I had experienced.
As I wander the streets alone, I can't stop thinking about Luna's dream. Maybe there is more to the magic in this city than I ever realized. But for now, I'll stick to my simple life and continue my adventures on the streets.
As I watched the sky's dance once again, I couldn't stop thinking about the girl's words. Maybe there was more to this magic than I thought. I wasn't convinced, but Luna's words lingered in my mind long after we said goodbye. As I walked through the empty streets, I wondered if there was any truth to what she had said. Could magic really be used for good? Or was it just a tool for destruction and chaos? I didn't know the answer, but I was determined to find out.
I continued to wander around the city, taking in the sights and sounds of the magical world around me. But as the night went on, I couldn't help but feel a sense of loneliness. I may be a stray cat, but I've never felt truly alone before.
As I wandered down an alley, I came across a group of alley cats who were fighting over a dumpster of food. I tried to intervene, but they didn't listen to me. One of the cats, a black and white male named Boots, stood out to me. He was tough and didn't take orders from anyone.
Boots got into a fight with another cat, and I tried to break it up. But Boots snapped at me and told me to mind my own business. I felt hurt and confused by his behavior. I didn't understand why he was so hostile towards me.
I wandered off on my own, feeling lonely and rejected. I saw Luna again in the distance, but I hesitated to approach her. Maybe Boots was right. Maybe I should mind my own business and stay out of trouble.
But as I continued to walk, I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something missing in my life. I may be a stray cat, but I wanted to belong somewhere. I wanted to make a difference in this world, even if it meant taking a risk.
I continued to walk, lost in thought, until I eventually fell asleep under a nearby tree. As I drifted off into slumber, I couldn't help but wonder what tomorrow would bring. Would I ever find my place in this magical world? Maybe I will get to see Luna again.
