Tried a 30-Day AI Side Hustle Challenge –
Here’s How Much I Made
Introduction
Artificial intelligence (AI) has taken over the world, and many claim it can help you make money effortlessly. From AI-generated art to automated businesses, the opportunities seem endless. But do they actually work? To find out, I challenged myself to use AI tools to make money for 30 days. Here's everything I learned—plus how much I earned!
Week 1: Researching AI Money-Making Methods
Before jumping in, I researched the most popular AI-based side hustles. Some of the most talked-about methods included:
AI-generated art (MidJourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion) – Selling digital artwork and printables.
Content creation with ChatGPT – Writing blog posts, ebooks, and social media content.
AI-powered trading bots – Automating crypto and stock trading.
Selling AI-generated low-content books – Creating journals, planners, and coloring books for Amazon KDP.
Voice cloning and AI narration – Producing audiobooks and voiceovers.
Automated customer service chatbots – Selling AI-powered chatbots to businesses.
I decided to focus on three main methods: AI-generated art, content creation, and AI-assisted writing for businesses.
Week 2: Setting Up & First Earnings
1. Selling AI Art on Etsy & Redbubble
I used MidJourney and DALL·E to create stunning AI-generated art and uploaded them to Etsy and Redbubble as digital downloads. I priced each piece at $5–$10 and promoted them on Pinterest.
✅ Earnings: $22 (3 sales on Etsy, 1 on Redbubble)
2. Freelance Writing with AI Assistance
Using ChatGPT, I started writing blog posts and LinkedIn articles for clients on Fiverr and Upwork. I positioned myself as a human writer who used AI for research, not as an AI spammer.
✅ Earnings: $60 (2 small blog projects)
Week 3: Scaling Up & Automation
3. AI-Generated eBooks on Amazon KDP
I used ChatGPT and Canva to create a self-help book and uploaded it to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). I marketed it on Reddit and Twitter.
✅ Earnings: $15 (3 book sales)
4. Selling AI-Generated Social Media Content
I offered AI-powered Instagram carousels, Twitter threads, and LinkedIn posts on Fiverr. Many clients wanted engaging content but didn’t know how to write.
✅ Earnings: $45 (2 clients for LinkedIn posts)
Week 4: Final Push & Results
By this time, I had optimized my workflow and automated repetitive tasks. I also explored AI voiceovers using Murf.ai and started pitching AI-generated video scripts to YouTube creators.
Final Earnings Breakdown
AI Art Sales: $65
Freelance Writing: $175
eBook Sales: $30
Social Media Content: $120
AI Voiceover & Video Scripts: $50
Total 30-Day Earnings: $440
Key Lessons & Takeaways
AI is a powerful tool, but it won’t do everything for you. Human creativity and strategy still matter.
Selling digital products (art, ebooks) is the most passive method. Once set up, it keeps earning with minimal effort.
Freelance writing & content creation make money faster than passive income sources. If you need quick cash, focus on services.
Marketing is crucial. AI-created content doesn’t sell itself—you must promote it.
Conclusion: Is an AI Side Hustle Worth It?
Absolutely! While I didn’t get rich in 30 days, making $440 in my first month with AI tools was impressive. With continued effort and scaling, I believe this could turn into a $1,000–$2,000/month side hustle.
If you're thinking of starting an AI side hustle, pick a method, stay consistent, and don't be afraid to experiment. AI is here to stay—why not use it to your advantage?
