Laura ran until her sides hurt, then pushed herself to run more. Afraid to stop running, in fear of what would happen to her sweet Lucy if she did not reach home in time to get her child out of their house. Panting for breath with a burning stitch in her side, Laura regretted that she didn’t keep jogging after she found out she was pregnant with Lucy. Laura was forcing herself harder than she had ever run because she knew this was a race for life or death.

Laura wasn’t sure why the Cobra gang wanted Lucy so much. For some reason, they had set their sights on her daughter, and they weren’t going to stop at anything to get her. Laura had to find some way to stop them and protect her daughter while keeping them both alive, but there was nowhere to go and no one to trust.

Racing around the corner of Averton Boulevard onto Willow Creek Lane, Laura was met with a bewildering sight in her unbelieving eyes. There was a crowd of Cobra gang members in front of the iron steps to her house, but not one of them would take a step closer. Laura could see a wide-eyed Lucy standing safely on the stairs, with their neighbor, Dominic, between her and the gang. Laura had arrived just in time, but what could she do? Several Cobra were in the way of her getting to her daughter.

Approaching the group, Laura was shocked to see two gang members advance towards the steps. Before they reached the stairs, her neighbor had quickly, faster than Laura’s eyes could follow, taken both Cobras and laid them out on the ground before him. As he did this, three more broke ranks trying to get around Dominic so they could grab Lucy.

Laura was infuriated. Reaching and grabbing the first thing she saw sticking out of the trashcan beside her, she ran towards the group in front of her home. She reached them just as her unexpected hero laid two of the three out, and the rest began jumping in. Swinging her makeshift weapon, which turned out to be a two-foot-long broken golf putter, Laura connected with the head of one of the Cobras in the rear of the group, knocking him bleeding to the ground.

She must have blanked out because she and Dominic were standing side by side and Laura had no idea how she had gotten through the gang members to the stairs. All the Cobras were lying on the sidewalk except the three running towards Averton. She had a lot of blood on her, but she didn’t appear to have any wounds. Amazed at their victory, Laura turned to her daughter to check on her.

She was surprised to see Lucy running down the short flight of stairs and jumping straight into Dominic’s arms. Astonished, he wrapped her in his arms and told her everything was okay and she was safe now. Laura could only stare in amazement at the huge muscular man holding her ten-year-old child.

Since my husband and Lucy’s father, Luca, had passed away when my daughter was six years old, she wouldn’t have anything to do with any men. She had a huge distrust of all men, except her kind, gentle father. So it was astounding to see Lucy in this behemoth specimen of the male gender arms, held so tenderly.

As if Lucy felt her mother’s eyes on them, she turned to her mother and said, “MOM!! Dom saved me!! Those guys kicked our door in and were trying to drag me out into the street when Dom came outside and saved me from them!!”

Looking from her daughter to Dominic, Laura said, “Thank you for saving my daughter. You don’t know how much it means to me, Dominic.”

He acknowledged her thanks with a nod and said, “Those were Cobra gang members. They’ll be back. We need to get off the street. Come on. I know a place.” With those words, he took off down Willow Creek Lane with Lucy in his arms towards Mellow Brook Road. Laura had no choice but to follow along behind.

Sharon, how could you do this to me? I already said bye to Lucy in Maryam's piece. But you had to bring in Dominic 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ohh! What an amazing twist! I thought both of them wouldn't survive, but then a hero made an incredible entry. It was absolutely brilliant. Your collaboration was great ✨👍

"Pregnant with Lucy" got me for a second... But then I got it! Dominic was a hero for sure. 💖 All the fights scenes are straight from a movie, crazy. I loved the way you created this part. Thank you so much, Sharon 💖 You're so sweet for doing this 👏😊
