A former engineer at Goulding Motors, ebony colored Maxer Frampton took in his pen and sketched the outlines for the flying car that could build, refuel, and pilot itself.

Once given a set of algorithms, he turned to his sketches and put down his pen.

In the way that he took the curves and lines of the street vehicle and aircraft, it was listening to a concerto or making love or sipping wine. The machine completed building itself.

It rolled outside and took to the air. In about fourteen seconds, the machine fell to the ground.

“It flew,” he said.
