There's A Vampire in Town

Has he hunted yet? No. But he's in town.

Vampires. They’re a super popular legend that everyone knows about. Being repelled by garlic, sunlight, and crosses. Depending on the lore they could also be killed by silver. Cannot be seen in mirrors. Nor can they come into someone else’s home without being invited first.

There’s also holy water.

And in some cases, running water keeps vampires from doing anything. Or keeps anything they’re in from moving forward either. There was something about that that isn’t as popular as the other points. Especially, the bulbs of garlic. Even though in the Dracula book it wasn’t bulbs of garlic. It was blossoms. Garlic blossoms are made into either flower crowns or chains. That’s if I can remember that part right or not. I’m not entirely certain if they were made into chains. But they were made into crowns for Lucy to wear to allegedly keep Count Dracula at bay.

I’ll need to reread that.

But I’m sure that they were crowns. It’s one of the reasons that I have made several of these for people I know. I’ve also put up crosses in each room of my friend’s homes. Keeping them out of their line of sight to keep them from seeing. As I fear they will think that I’ve lost my mind. But I’m afraid that there is a vampire in town. This person that I’m sure is the vampire is only out at night.

Like in legends.

I’ve never seen them eat or drink food. But I have seen this person with something red dripping from their bottom lip. Their eye teeth looking too long to be normal.

Something that is in some legends. At least it was in Dracula the last time that I read it! It should mean that I would be safe inside of my home, right? Right. Being inside of the house and not inviting strangers in is good. Inviting that person that I’m sure is a vampire in is also not going to happen. It will never happen. Since this person isn’t just a creepy ass stranger in my view. But I don’t even want to know him in the slightest bit. There’s also this feeling I get when I look at his eyes. His eyes felt like they could see straight through to your very soul.

It was deeply unsettling.

That was two weeks ago and at night. It is the middle of the day now. In the sunniest part of the local park and near the largest river that is in town. There was no way that this awful creature could get anywhere near me or my friends. Well, those were my thoughts about it when I gave my friend some of the sandwiches I made. I spotted the vampire. Or rather the person that I had been accusing of being a vampire for the past two weeks. He was wearing all dark clothing and some strange sunglasses. They were sort of like Ozzy Osborne glasses. We briefly made eye contact as he walked on the trail that runs through the entire park. A faint smile came to his lips but nothing that would show off his extraordinarily sharp teeth. While I sat there this chill ran down my spine as I forced myself to not stare into those piercing eyes.

None of my friends thankfully noticed me staring at that man. And I felt myself going cold as I started to wonder if I was wrong about him or not. That maybe I had misjudged this poor man entirely? That maybe he was a completely normal goth guy that was living his own best life. Glancing at his direction, I frowned as I picked at my sandwich. Debating on whether I research this or not tonight.
