The Wise Giraffe

the talkative giraffe and her elephant friend

By Pepe MagicPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Once upon a time, in a vast savanna, there lived a giraffe named Gigi. Unlike her kind, Gigi possessed the extraordinary ability to talk. She would often engage in deep conversations with other animals, but her long neck and towering height made it hard for her to find a friend who could match her level of intellect.

Gigi was a kind and friendly giraffe, always eager to make new friends. But she had found it challenging to make lasting connections with other animals. Most animals were too intimidated by her height to get close to her, and others were too afraid of her ability to speak. Gigi longed for a true friend, someone who could look beyond her unusual traits and appreciate her for who she was.

One day, Gigi spotted a herd of zebras trotting nearby. She had always found zebras fascinating, and so she decided to strike up a conversation with them. As she approached them, they all froze, staring at her in awe.

“Hello, zebras! How are you doing today?” Gigi asked, greeting them with a friendly smile.

The zebras were taken aback by the fact that a giraffe was talking to them. They had never encountered such a thing before. After a moment of silence, one of the zebras stepped forward and replied, “Uh, we’re doing fine, thank you. And you?”

“I’m doing great, thanks for asking,” Gigi said, feeling relieved that the zebras were not frightened by her. “Say, do you guys want to hear a joke?”

The zebras nodded eagerly, curious to see what kind of joke a talking giraffe would tell. Gigi cleared her throat and began her joke. “Why do giraffes have long necks?”

The zebras shrugged, unsure of the answer.

“Because their feet smell!” Gigi said, bursting into laughter.

The zebras chuckled politely, not finding the joke very funny. They were more interested in asking Gigi about her ability to talk. “Excuse us for asking, Gigi, but how did you learn to talk?” one of the zebras asked.

Gigi explained that she had always been able to talk, ever since she was a calf. Her mother and father had also been surprised by her ability, but they had accepted it and helped her hone her speaking skills.

The zebras were impressed by Gigi’s story, and they spent the rest of the day asking her all kinds of questions about her life and experiences. Gigi was grateful to have finally found some animals who could appreciate her unique ability.

As the sun began to set, the zebras bid Gigi goodbye and promised to come back and visit her soon. Gigi watched them trot away, feeling happy and content.

From that day on, Gigi became a legend in the savanna. Other animals would come from far and wide to hear her talk, and Gigi was more than happy to share her knowledge and wisdom with anyone who would listen.

Gigi became particularly fond of a young elephant named Ellie. Ellie was different from the other animals Gigi had met. She was confident and outgoing, and her size and strength matched Gigi's height and strength. They became fast friends, spending hours talking and playing together.

Ellie would listen intently to Gigi's stories and ask insightful questions. Gigi, in turn, would listen to Ellie's dreams and aspirations, encouraging her to pursue her passions.

One day, Ellie confided in Gigi that she had always dreamed of becoming a painter. "But I'm afraid I'm not very good," she said, looking down at her trunk.

Gigi looked at Ellie and smiled. "Ellie, you can be anything you want, Gigi continued, "Don't let fear hold you back. You have so much talent, and with practice and perseverance, you can achieve anything."

Ellie looked up at Gigi, feeling inspired and grateful for her encouragement. "Thank you, Gigi. You're such a great friend," she said, wrapping her trunk around Gigi's long neck.

Gigi felt a warm feeling in her heart. She had finally found a friend who accepted her for who she was, and who appreciated her for her unique abilities. She knew that their friendship would only grow stronger with time.

Over the years, Gigi continued to share her wisdom and knowledge with the animals of the savanna. She became a respected and admired member of the community, and her friendship with Ellie only grew stronger.

Together, they would explore the savanna, discovering new places and meeting new animals. They would watch the sunrise together, marveling at the beauty of nature. They would talk for hours, sharing their dreams and fears, and encouraging each other to be the best they could be.

And so, the talkative giraffe and her elephant friend lived happily ever after, in a world where anything was possible, and true friendship could be found in the most unexpected of places.
