Captain Leila Alvarez sat in the command chair of the starship Eclipse, her hands gripping the edges as the ship’s systems flickered again. The Whisper was growing louder, infiltrating their thoughts, their dreams. At first, it was just static, then voices, and now... now it felt like it was alive.

"Captain, we’re losing control of navigation again!" shouted Engineer Kim, his voice shaking with fear. Leila took a deep breath. They were on a mission to investigate the source of The Whisper, but every jump brought them closer to the unknown, to something that didn't want to be found.

Suddenly, the ship’s AI, Iris, spoke, her usually calm voice strained. "Captain, there’s... there’s something you need to see."

Leila glanced at the main display. There, among the stars, a shadow shifted, something massive, moving impossibly fast. It wasn’t a ship. It wasn’t human.

"Open a transmission," Leila ordered, her heart pounding. "Let’s talk to it."

As the signal was sent, the Whisper intensified. The ship trembled, lights flickered out. A voice, not human, crackled through the speakers. It was both ancient and new, like the birth of a star.

Leila's blood ran cold. They had found the source.
