The Wedding
Chocolate cake - It’ll kill you

Chocolate cake is bad for you. There are so many problems can occur from too much chocolate cake. Some people say it can even kill you.
Marilyn wanted him. Six foot four, abs of steel, and the most beautiful tan she had ever seen on a man. There was just one problem – David was about to marry Caitlyn - and Caitlyn was her daughter.
It wasn’t fair. Marilyn had struggled all of her life. She met Derrick when she was 16, and made the mistake of sleeping with him on the first date - just like she had all of the others. She was considered easy in school, but she had been lucky – except for once.
Marilyn told Derrick she was pregnant, and he told her goodbye. She was a single mom at 17. She had so many dreams for the future. She had a passion for marine biology. It was all she ever wanted to do. But then Caitlyn happened. And from that day on, that beautiful blonde haired brown eyed girl ruined everything. Van Morrison must’ve known Caitlyn’s life. Everyone wanted her to be their brown eyed girl.
David was Marilyn’s obsession. But, he and Caitlyn weren’t married yet. Why couldn’t he love her? Caitlyn had enough people to love her. Marilyn only had Caitlyn. Caitlyn had everything. Even Derrick had come back into her life and built a bond with her.
Just as Marilyn was fantasizing about David’s rockhard body pressing her against the wall, tearing her shirt off, and sliding his fingers down her panties the word “Mom” broke the fantasy.
“Mom are you OK? You seem a world away” Caitlin’s voice! The woman couldn’t even let her have a fantasy.
“Oh! Hi baby,” replied Marilyn, letting out a long sigh. If only she had a few more minutes alone. “How are you?” She asked, getting up from her seat for the obligates mother daughter hug.
“I’m ok. Listen, Diana had to back out of the wedding planning, so I was wondering if you go with me today. The cake and food tasting for the wedding is in an hour?” Caitlyn said.
Shifting from slightly aggravated to amusement, a slight grin came across Marilyn’s face. “Sweetheart, I’d love to.”
“We are looking at doing a his and hers cakes.” Said Caitlyn. I want chocolate and he wants strawberry, so we have compromised. He gets his and I get mine. Then we will have a big wedding cake for our guests.” Or so Marilyn thought that’s what she said. After all, she was already plotting.
“Sounds wonderful dear, just wonderful.” Said Marilyn. I’d love to go. Can’t turn down a free cake.”
Driving to the caterer, Marilyn asked, “have you finalized a place for the wedding yet? You know you only have two months left.”
“We actually put a deposit down with The Atlantis. We wanted it there as a tribute to you for all of your sacrifices. We know you gave up a lot when I was born, so David suggested it as a perfect spot,” Replied Caitlyn.
“David wanted to do this for me?” asked Marilyn.
“Of course. He thought it would be a tribute for your sacrifice in life. I mean he knows you gave up your dream of being a marine biologist. He wanted you to be represented as well.”
“Wow, I don’t know what to say,”Said Marilyn, feeling a tear welling up in one eye.
Maybe there is hope after all, and maybe there will be a change of plans.
Caitlyn put so much into her wedding. It was going to be the wedding she had dreamed of since she was a child. It was shaping up to be the type of wedding Marilyn had always wished she could have had as well.
The day of the wedding was fast approaching, and since Diana had forfeited her role in helping Caitlyn, Marilyn gladly stepped up to assist. After all, it made her plans a lot easier. No one was suspect a thing.
Marilyn had volunteered to handle all of the arrangements at The Atlantis. It gave her time to appreciate the marine life she had always dreamed of protecting.
After The Atlantis learned of Marilyn’s passion for marine life. they encouraged her to interact with the smaller fish and rays. They even let her go behind the scenes on her own.
The big day had finally arrived. Caitlyn called for her mother. As Marilyn walked through the door, she saw a beautiful young woman standing before her. Caitlyn wore a long white lace wedding gown like Marilyn had always dreamed she would be married in. Once again – The thought trailed off. She had to maintain her composure. After all, this was the big day.
“Baby, you look beautiful.,” Said Marilyn.
“Thank you mama. I appreciate all you have done for me, and all you’ve given up over the years. I know it wasn’t easy for you.” Caitlyn hugged her mom tight.
“You have no idea Cait. It’s meant so much to be here. This has put me a step closer to my dreams coming true, both present and future. Atlantis offered me an internship. I start next week. “
“Mama that’s wonderful.”
They were interrupted when Derrick appeared at the door to give his beautiful daughter away.
The wedding was all David and Caitlyn could have dreamed of. Of course it being Caitlyn, nothing went wrong. Perfection as usual.
As Mr. and Mrs. David Caldwel were introduced to applause from 100 guests, Marilyn reveled in something else. The moment she was waiting for was getting closer.
It was all set. She had access to everything. And why not? She was the mother of the bride.
Marilyn sat in anticipation. She tried to enjoy her dinner, but she kept looking at the 3 beautiful cakes. The grand finale was neigh.
After two hours of anticipation, it was time. Caitlyn and David walked to the dessert table. It was happening. Marilyns delight would be mistaken for happiness for the daughter she had seen as the reason for the demise of all of her dreams.
Marilyn looked on knowing what was about to happen. Soon David would be alone. They would both be grieving. It would bring them together. He would fall in love with HER. It’s going to be as it should.
The cake was set. No one could see the puncture from the syringe. Tetrotoxin would never be suspected. They should have never left her alone with the puffer fish. And she had paid the hitman $10,000 to inject the chocolate cake.
Marilyn was enjoying the crowds reaction, imagining them cheering the death of the one person who took her dreams away from her.
She turned to the bride and groom to witness the big event. She watched as the chocolate cake touch the lips of the man she loved. The man she did all of this for. “Oh my God,” Marilyn thought. She had heard her daughter wrong. “HE wanted chocolate cake and SHE wanted strawberry” was what Caitlyn had said. Marilyn was so focused on coming up with a plan she heard it wrong.
Of course! What man would request strawberry wedding cake.
David took a bite. Then he took another. There was nothing she could do. Caitlyn was in heaven, and Marilyn was in hell. She watched in horror. Caitlyn looking at her new husband with such love and admiration.
Suddenly David fell to the ground.
“Help me,” he pleaded. The tetratoxin was fast.
Caitlyn and Marilyn finally felt the same for once in their lives as they both watched as the man they love gasp his last breath. And no one will suspect a piece of cake.
But like they say: chocolate cake - it can kill you.
