I fell asleep with stories swirling in my head. They were the most beautiful and engaging in Medium Town. Peaceful dreams danced in my mind as I woke up the morning after.

Sunshine streamed through my window. Something was amiss. My whole street was empty. All my friends’ houses were gone! Panic and anxiety overwhelmed my being. I was all alone. Around me, the desert rumbled with 410 and 404 numbers flying at the slightest breeze.

What had happened during the night? Fear wrapped around me like a shroud. Stories had power, and reading was the only rule. What now?
