His father was black as pitch, his mother white as chalk, yet it barely registered in his mind while he navigated his youthful years. His early life saw the death of his biological father whom he barely knew.

He struggled as a young adult to reconcile the social perceptions of his multiracial heritage. His stepfather taught him from the age of six to be resilient, endowing him with the knowledge and a hard-headed assessment of how the world worked.

Our hero moved around a lot during his formative years, lost his mother to illness and fought his way to an extensive level of higher education.

Hero is well known, he majored in political science, specializing in International relations and English literature. He was preparing for greatness. He had no alter ego.

Un-caped, he began his life with some privilege, though he was, most probably from distant enslaved African descendants, he had choices and he utilized them to his advantage.

On the diversity of his extended family: "It's like a little mini-United Nations," he said. "I've got relatives who look like Bernie Mac, and I've got relatives who look like Margaret Thatcher". He has eight half-siblings. The cape-less one also has roots in Ireland, with ties to his mother's family history to possible Native American ancestors and distant relatives of Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. He also shares distant ancestors in common with George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, among others.

With this smorgasbord of colorful life to ponder and puzzle, our hero became the leader of one of the greatest nations on earth. Despite the many bitter struggles and heartaches which turned his hair from black to silver, with the strength of a highly supportive family, he made world history.
