The Thoughts of Fearless

I am Abhay. I used to be proud of my name; it gave me confidence. However, one day, my entire life turned upside down. It was my first day in school, and I was asked to introduce myself. I said, “I am Abhay, and it means someone who is fearless.”

I regretted saying this every single day. From that day on, it became everyone’s challenge at my school to frighten me, and my life became chaos. My confidence was completely lost, and I became a very timid person.

After that incident, everything became hard for me. I couldn’t connect with anyone normally. Now I can’t imagine myself working under someone, but there is one thing I want to do: directing. I always wanted to be a director, but I can’t because of this fear.

As I stand in front of a coffee shop, thinking about all this, I realize that I am here because I made a mistake a few days ago. I applied for a job because my parents forced me, and unfortunately, I got the job. It is in a startup company called ABC-Triangle Solutions. Today is my first day in this new job. As for the reason why I am standing here, there’s a small story behind it.

I came to the company shivering, and standing beside me was a girl; I think this was also her first day. She was beautiful, and it doesn’t matter as I cannot say that to her. But I think my boss can because he took us under his direct wing for training and took us to a coffee shop.

He gave me his briefcase and the girl’s bag to carry. Even though he is ignoring me, I can’t calm down. I kept the bag and the briefcase on a chair, and as I was going to sit down, he told me to bring the coffee for him and the girl.

I took time to order and got the coffee. Then something unexpected happened. As I was about to give the coffee to my boss, a thief pushed me and stole my boss’s briefcase, and I got tripped.

This is where the unexpected happened: I wasn’t afraid at that moment! I saw the coffee coming out of the cup in slow motion like a perfect wave, and I got an idea looking at that wave. If I were to remake the movie Titanic, I would make it sink because of a tsunami. Then I can make a shot of the couple striking their iconic pose as the tsunami comes from the opposite direction, sacrificing themselves and making their love immortal.

Now, standing in front of the same coffee shop, I am accused of losing the briefcase and getting fired on the first day, yet I remain calm. I believe I can truly become Abhay — someone who is fearless. I am determined to pursue my dream of becoming a director, no matter what challenges may come my way.
