The Tale of the Sun and Moon Twins.
How their beautiful paintings came to be.
Short Author's Note.
I created this tale out of boredom and creativity in no way do I believe this tale to be true. I hope you enjoy the story, I had so much fun making it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It began with two. Two halves of a whole, like yin and yang, twins. So different yet still the same, both filled with light in separate ways. One bursts with sunlight, the other gleams with moon light, they complete each other. One with beautiful caramel skin that shines like gold, the other with hypnotizing ebony skin that shines brighter pearls. The sun goddess was named Namara, and the moon goddess named Kamauri.
Kamauri and Namara were creative beings, always looking for a new project. They created lights, they decided to call stars that glitter and shine as bright as their skin, they had tons of empty rocks. All assorted colors, some had a ring or two, one ring even had seven! They decided to call these rocks ‘Planets.’ Namara grew the stars in her womb, but it was Kamauri who made them shine brighter than diamonds. In turn Kamauri grew the planets and Namara gave the planets her children, the stars, to light their cousin’s way. The sisters painted the planets together. It was their favorite pastime, until the sisters decided they wanted to do something the never thought of before. The sisters adored their children, but they wanted to try something different. What if their creations became a living portrait? They could watch it forever. The idea intrigued them, and so they agreed to do it.
They drew a planet, deciding not to birth it, what if the planet was multicolored, they asked each other? That idea pleased them, so they made it so, the main colors they chose were blue for the ocean and green for the land. They zoomed into their painting and flowers, trees, bushes and so much more. They filled the trees and bushes with fruits of all kinds. The painted the flowers all different shades. They created hills and mountains because they hated the flat surface of the landscape, it was far too boring. As they looked at their masterpiece, they could not help but like a few things were missing. ‘I hear the ocean’s lonely cries sister, it wants company.’ stated Kamauri. ‘And I hear the desperate calls of the land we must help them.’ stated Namara. So, the goddesses filled the sea with millions of creatures big and small, colorful, and plain, predators and prey. Next, they filled the land with tons of animals, some with fur, others with feathers. Some even had scales, some could fly, and some could climb. Some with legs, others with none. Even after all that work, they felt like something was missing. So, they created creatures like no other, they had no fur, but something called hair. Some had wavy hair others had straight, some had big curly hair. Some had skin as white as snow and some had skin deep as mahogany. Some spoke in different tongues. They created many of these creatures' called humans because they saw that being alone was not good. Now that the sisters saw their painting full, they realized to was too bright to be that way for ever, so they moved their stars away from the painting. But they knew total darkness was not good for humans, so they shined their lights down on the painting. One covered one half and the other covered the other half. To see both halves they rotated the earth, creating day and night.
