The Snake's promise
Kindness shouldn't cost you your peace

A snake is always a snake..
Once upon a time, there was a rabbit hole that was a lovely place to live. The partridges crouched in their corners. And the rabbits huddled fearfully in the corners. No guest like this had ever entered their door. But the snake said, in a soft, quiet voice.
''Please don't be scared of me… I'm so lonely. i have no friends, want warmth. So I have some ancient wisdom, I would like to share with you.
The rabbits exchanged meaningful looks but agreed to give her the benefit of the doubt. They were fascinated by her quiet, musical voice, and they drank in her stories and legends. She sounded like a philosopher ….
She bit one of the men and vanished.
The following evening, she showed up.
''Don't turn me around, please,'' she begged. "You know I'm a snake. It's hard for me not to bite. But I'm trying. Friends should embrace each other’s suck, right...?"
The rabbits hesitated, then once again let her in.
So again, gentle conversations, talks, gentle words …
Again, a sharp bite out of nowhere.
On the third day,
The snake coiled and hissed around it, pleaded, whispered empty promises of change, begged for one more chance. But no one came out.
This world does not belong to those people that think deeply! she spat in hate, and disappeared into shadow.
And occasionally venomous animals refer to themselves as wise and misunderstood, quietly biting when the trust is restored.
Never forget. If you've been hurt by someone time and time again, no matter how sincere their mask might be and however beautiful words they might use and however deep and meaningful quotes they might use, don't let them in your heart anymore.
Kindness doesn't need to be masochistic.
