The Snake Girl
Cursed by Venom, Destined for Revenge

Long ago, in the northeastern region of India, there was a village called Misma. There lived an orphan fisherman named Tarau. One day, he went fishing. That day, instead of a fish, a snake got caught in his net. Actually, that snake was the king of Nagalok. Seeing her father trapped in the net, the girl got scared. She took the form of a beautiful woman. She went to Tarau and said, If you leave my father, I will marry you.
The young man agreed and left the snake. Nagakanya married him.
The villagers did not like the marriage of Tarau and Nagakanya. They informed the king about the marriage. The king called Tarau and said, You have broken our traditions, you will be punished. Tomorrow morning there will be a fight between you and my rooster, whoever loses will have to leave the village.
The young man was scared. He came home and told his wife the whole story. The snake girl said, What is there to be so afraid of I will bring a strong rooster from Naglok. Saying this, she went to the snake world. After some time, she brought the rooster.

The next day, the kings and the young mans roosters fought. Nagloks rooster was stronger, so the kings rooster lost, but he said, Taron! The decision has not been made. Therefore, tomorrow morning, whoever will make the basket flow in the opposite direction of the river will win.
It was impossible for Taraon to divert the flow of the Lohit river in the opposite direction. He told this to Nagakanya. She consoled her husband, Dont be afraid! My father will help you. She went to her father. Nagakanya told her husband about her problems. Father gave her a beautiful basket. Said As soon as you put the basket in the river, the current will start flowing in the opposite direction. The snake reached the girls house. She told Tara the whole story.

Taraon dipped the basket in the river. On this, the river immediately reversed its flow and reached the kings palace. Taraon jumped with joy. He said to the king, King! I have won. As per the condition, you should leave this village.
Where was the king going to admit defeat He said, This decision will not be considered final either. Now we should fight a war. The decision will be taken through this war.

Taraon ran to his wife and told the whole story. The king had a large army but Taraon was alone. Hearing his problem, the snake girl again reached Naglok. From there she brought a golden drum and a stick to play it.
In the morning, the king came with his army for the battle. Taraon was already ready. Seeing the king and the army, the snake girl started playing the drum. Hearing the sound of the drum, the trees, animals, grass and leaves etc. started dancing.
The king and the soldiers also threw down their weapons and started dancing.
Now Taraon and his wife Nagakanya became the king and queen of the village. Even today, the descendants of Arunachal are known as the Tarao tribe.
Even now, when someone remembers that Nagakanya with their heart, their wishes are fulfilled. Whenever the name of Nagkanya comes on the lips, her picture instantly forms before the eyes.
