If walls could talk, I would probably yell that the owner of this house needs to stop blowing on that trumpet. Does he honestly think that what he plays is music? If we walls had ears our ears would be bleeding. Our faces would be flushed and probably a plethora of expletives and insults would be yelled. That trumpet would be broken to pieces if we were people. However, everything serves a purpose. That trumpet served its purpose last week. As I am talking my sooty wall is being refurnished and repainted. This whole house has to undergo a remodel. It was because of the fire, a fire which saved a life.
This story is one for people to tell through generations. However, I doubt anybody would truly believe it. It starts when Jimmy joined the neighborhood and tried to fit in with the older boys. He lived with his mom who was deaf and blind. There was also that girl Susan who was there. I will get to more about her later in the story. She was a crucial part in saving Jimmy.
Susan was unknown to people. She was kind of like a walking shadow that just existed. Nobody knew whom she was and nobody answered her on the phone. That is except Jimmy. Jimmy was the only one who could see or hear Susan besides that creepy man. Susan was the first person to greet Jimmy when he moved into the new house. Susan was unaware that something was off about the whole situation. To better understand Susan you need to hear about the creepy man.
One day outside Susan’s dwelling a creepy man in black called her. She was afraid but then the creepy man broke a window. Naturally, Susan called the police, and like always they didn’t answer. She went out to explore defying her usual scared nature. The creepy man laughed hysterically. He beckoned Susan and told her the chilling words that she was supposed to join him. Scared, Susan ran but the creepy man caused a ripple of boxes to fall blockading her. The man stated Susan was to allow him to possess Jimmy’s body. Susan did not know it at the time but she was a ghost-as was the creepy man.
Susan did not believe it as how can a ghost be friends with a boy who was clearly living. As Jimmy’s mom was deaf and blind, she could not see or hear Susan. Jimmy was the only human who could. One day Jimmy accidently ran into Susan-not into but through. At first he was frightened. Then a day later he was intrigued. He asked Susan whether she could do some haunting stuff so the older boys would be impressed. As Susan was in disbelief that she was a ghost she said no. The creepy man sent visual messages to Susan and one was of young Jimmy dying. This image of her only contact with the world haunted her. Sure, Jimmy could be a nuisance, but he meant the best. One day the bigger boys upset with Jimmy gave him the ultimate dare.
The dare was heinous but simple. Jimmy was to set fire to the neighborhood man’s curtains then run away as the man struggled to put them out. The man was known for being weird and people knew about how annoying his trumpet was. So one day Jimmy with a lit candle crept into the house via an open window. The man was doing his dishes so Jimmy hid into his closet. After some time, Jimmy got tired of holding the candle Still he didn’t want the man to see him. He accidently dropped the lit candle in the closet. From smoke inhalation, Jimmy passed out. The man meanwhile was in his bed snoring oblivious to what was happening. Susan who witnessed it called for help and accepting she was a ghost came up with a plan. She grabbed the trumpet and blew as loudly as she could. She didn’t expect it to work but a harsh noise came out. The man woke up and noticed the fire was coming from the closet. He grabbed young Jimmy and ran out the house and called the fire department and ambulance. Before the ambulance came, Jimmy awoke and heard the story. Nobody knew how the trumpet blared with nobody there except Jimmy. Jimmy called out to Susan much to everyone’s shock. However, he could not see or hear Susan. Susan having fulfilled her purpose could no longer be a part of the world and had moved on to the heavens. The rest of the story is up to you to finish.
