The Rise of Lazy-Boy: Nap Time's New Hero
Submission to Vocal's Epic Beginnings Challenge
On a day much like all the others in the bustling metropolis of Prompton, lived Larry Bumford, the laziest man around. Unlike the city's busy residents, Larry had a special gift: an unparalleled ability to be lazy. He could nap anywhere, anytime, and found ingenious ways to avoid doing anything remotely constructive.
One day, while lounging on his favourite reclining sofa, Larry reached for a bag of corn chips that was just out of reach. Too lazy to get up, he sighed and wished the bag would come to him. To his astonishment, it slid across the floor and into his hand. Confused but intrigued, Larry decided to experiment further, realising he could move objects just by thinking about them.
What Larry didn’t know was that a comet made entirely of "Inertium" - the universe's laziest element, had passed by Earth the night before, showering it with cosmic energy. While most people felt no effect, Larry, the laziest person in Prompton, absorbed its full power, awakening his superhuman ability to manipulate objects and situations through sheer laziness!
As Larry discovered his newfound powers, he realized they could be used for more than just reaching snacks. When trouble hit Prompton, Larry adopted the identity of… Lazy-Boy! Donning a bathrobe and slippers, and armed with his trusty universal remote, he cleverly found lazy but effective ways to stop criminals and save the day without breaking a sweat.
Lazy-Boy quickly became an unexpected hero in Prompton, teaching the city that sometimes, there’s power in doing less. And so, he continued to protect the city in his own laid-back way, proving that sometimes the laziest approach can be the most effective.
As Lazy-Boy says, “Why work hard when you can work smart... or better yet, not work at all?”
