The Richest Poor Father

He had no money, but her love made him wealthy.

By Ammu Published 7 months ago 1 min read

It was a daily habit. Every evening after work, the father would return home with some snack or treat for his four-year-old daughter.

But that day, it was the end of the month. He had only enough money for the bus fare and nothing extra. With an empty hand and a heavy heart, he walked home.

Unaware of her father's struggles, the little girl cried and threw a tantrum when she saw he had brought nothing for her. The father couldn’t bear to see her disappointed. Not wanting to impose his poverty on her, he quickly walked to the nearby roadside shop and nervously asked for a small packet of biscuits.

As he hesitated, not knowing how to tell the shopkeeper he had no money, the little girl came running and extended her hand:

“Appa, here’s the five rupees I saved…”

The shopkeeper, smiling gently, handed over the biscuit packet and said,

“You can give the rest later.”

The father, holding back tears, took the biscuit and lifted his daughter onto his shoulders as they walked back home together.

Sometimes, the one who understands us the most is a child who sees us not just as a parent, but with unconditional love.

Even though they’re young, their affection often teaches us the true meaning of relationships.

Learning to embrace and cherish those moments—that is the true beauty of life.
