The sun was setting over the schoolyard as the graduates of 2014 gathered for their ten year reunion. Laughter filled the air as friends caught up sharing tales of their lives post graduation. Among them was Sarah, who had been reserved in school but now exuded confidence as she mingled with the crowd.
As the night progressed a group huddled around a bonfire reminiscing about the past. Someone proposed playing "truth or dare ". After a lighthearted dares it was Sarahs turn. With a grin she opted for "truth."
“If you could share one secret no one knows about you what would it be?" inquired Mike, known for his humor.
Sarah paused briefly before taking a breath. "I think it's time to come clean. Remember that prank during year when the principals car mysteriously ended up on the gym roof?”
Gasps and chuckles filled the circle—everyone recalled that infamous incident that remained unsolved.
“Well " Sarah confessed with a smile "that was my doing.”The group fell silent as they all gazed at her in shock. "You? You were always so reserved!"
Sarah casually shrugged, a smile playing on her lips. "I suppose I wasn't as quiet as you all assumed. Sometimes a bit of enigma is necessary."
Laughter filled the air the hidden truth a tale and the evening continued with fresh anecdotes to exchange.

Caves have an odd smell: mineral, fungal, traces of the feces of bats and the slow rot of silent, blind fish in dark, subterranean pools. I have heard the young men of the village mock each other by sniffing an exhalation and declaring: "Cave breath!" as though it were a mortal insult, some potent hex. I know what they mean, now. Imagine that the petrichor, the rich and pungent cologne that rain dapples soil with, became concentrated, corrupted, and was breathed into the mouth of someone who will never, fully exhale.
