The Painful Goodbye

The sun had barely risen over the sleepy town of Millfield, as Emily woke up with a heavy heart. Today was the day she had been dreading for weeks, the day she had to say goodbye to her best friend, Jack. The two had been inseparable since childhood and had been through everything together, from the first day of school to the last day of college. But now, Jack was leaving for a new job in another state, and Emily didn't know how to deal with the pain of losing him.

As Emily got ready for the day, she couldn't help but feel a knot in her stomach. She knew that today was going to be one of the hardest days of her life. She went home and curled up on the couch, staring blankly at the TV screen. She couldn't bring herself to do anything, not even cry.

As the days passed, Emily tried to get back to her routine, but everything seemed different without Jack.
