Paganism and small gods

Paganism as a religion has been known and practiced much in Africa in the early time; until 19th to 20th century when the American missionary penetrated and introduced a new religion such as Christianity and Islamic as the case may be. Paganism and pouring of libation has been described as twins. There was one pagan a strong believer to core who endure into 21th century; the time Christianity nearly dominate west Africa.

The pastor to a Pagan; What makes you believe that those small gods of yours really work?

The pagan replies; because that has been our inborn believe and a long time practice which in time past yielded positive results; he added; I asked him (the gods) to help me to achieve a certain goals of the day that after which I kill goat for him, then it works!

Pastor asked again; don’t you think it was the true living God that did for you?

Pagan; No no no , then we had a fight with a neighboring village many of villagers were killed hundreds were injured, we were left in confusion until I consulted the gods for solution, he responded immediately; we got fortified against the enemy; we went and defeated them. Was it God the fortified us? We were like bullet proved.

Pastor: I can’t really confirm, but was that the gods in action? He asked.

Pagan: Yes, without missing words that alone and many others had triggered our believe and my believe even till today; he replied.

Pastor: I will like to make known to you the true God of heaven, the maker of earth and heaven, the giver of life, the creator of the universe.

Pagan: (cut in) have you seen him before? Or you are told of him, what prove have you that he is the creator of the universe; he uttered.

Pastor: well; according to bible we’re made to believe that God in the beginning created heaven and earth and everything thereof, that on the sixth day he made man in his own image and likeness whereunto he breath in life into; hence, the existence of human being today.

Pagan: dear man many have come with such ideology just to convince me but before going into details; who wrote the book called bible? He asked.

Pastor: right! According to the scripture the holy bible was written by man through the help and guidance of the holy spirit that giveth the inspiration.

Pagan: that is according the writer of your bible, what then can you say if I narrate the encounter I had in the course of my paganism practices and evidence that build up my inner believe in what I believe to be the true; furthermore, every writer or motivational speaker wish the reader or the audience believed what is communicated to them; at this point every statement is convincing even if it’s a fiction.

Pastor: sir, please the bible is not a fiction, I experienced God blessing in diverse manner which make it real that God exist.

Pagan: I am not saying that your God doesn’t exist; but how then will you doubt the existence of the god I serve who also prove to be by the experience I have. Look; there many religions in the world today, every one of them has a doctrinal prove of why they believe and worship what appears to true. No one is wrong except your conscience fault you.

Pastor: but sir, I learnt that those small gods doesn’t walk, see nor hear. Is it true? He asked.

Pagan: pastor have you seen your God before? If yes; how old is he, and how did he form himself to be God, then will I answer your question.

Pastor: I can’t tell how old he is and how he formed himself sir.

Pagan: then won’t explain to you if he walks, see nor hear but in all let stick our conscience who is THE GOD of DO AND DON’T.
