The No Doze Cafe

Everyone had some kind of super power. When you hit puberty, you had to declare what your power was and it's printed on your drivers license when you get it, like needing contacts or glasses to drive. These powers range anywhere from teleportation to invisibility and everything in between.

I didn't even get regular teleportation either, no, my power had to be specific. I can only teleport between two of the same stores locations. Like Mcdonald's, Burger King... Heck it even worked with Blockbuster when it was still around.

My license reads: "Teleportation between two like franchises"

Completely boring. I don't get a lot of dates with that one. It's nothing like Lyla's power who can teleport wherever she wants whenever she wants. Her Instagram makes me so jealous, I can see pictures of her in Hawaii, Ireland, and Alaska just in the past week. She really got to see the world at any point whenever she felt like it. Sure, mine was convenient if I ended up at the wrong chain restaurant to pick up an order but other then that it was completely worthless.

Which is why I was so surprised to see her in my local Mom and Pop coffee shop. The owners were wonderful, this was their one and only location so my abilities didn't work here and they made a pretty good cup of joe. They also had those cute chocolate covered espresso beans! You can’t eat too many of them other wise you risk a caffeine overload but man were they good.

I always thought that the name was kind of silly myself, but it made the shop feel a little more homey.

"Everyone get on the ground now!" shouted Lyla

Is this really happening? What could she possibly need to rob a coffee shop for? She could literally teleport whereever she felt like it! Heck, she could teleport directly into the vault of a bank without anyone seeing her and teleport directyl back out with the money if she wanted to go this route. But this? She isn't even wearing a good disguise. I mean her hair looks a little different then usual but...

"Put the money in the bag, NOW" she screamed, pointing a gun at poor Ms. Jasinski.

I froze. I didn't know what to do. There had to be a way to stop her, but how? She'd just teleport out after she got what she wanted or if things got too difficult for her. My mind was spinning, I couldn't even think of a good reason she would need to rob a mom and pop coffee shop.

...and then it happened.

I teleported, but since this is the only location for the No Doze cafe, I ended up teleporting right behind Lyla. I grabbed the arm that she had the gun in.

Shocked, she dropped the weapon to the ground.

She turned and I could see her eyes get big.

Lyla tries to teleport away but fails.

Everyone knows what happens next, the cops were called about 8 minutes ago and were already coming inside. The officers looked around, they asked some of the patrons in the shop questions. They arrested Lyla, and Ms. Jasinski bless her heart didn't mention anything to the police about me teleporting from my table with my coffee to directly behind her.

Yea, they'll find out about it when they watch the cameras but like I said, everyone has some kind of power. As far as they know, mine is just teleportation. Although now I'm starting to think I also have the ability to cancel others powers.

Maybe I am special after all.
