The Name is Sable Trevino
For the "Craft Over Catharsis" challenge, this is the backstory, history and family legacy of a character I am currently using for a Daggerheart campaign, known henceforth as "Sable Trevino."

Sable Trevino is a slyborne katari rogue and active council member for the City of Eprieta. Clever and cunning as they come, Sable carries out her duties to the people as "Arbiter of the Veil," or the master of spies. Just think of her as a shadier version of Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet.

Pleasure to meet you, Sable is the name.
I am the second oldest of six children. My father is Alistair and my mother is Freya. My parents have retired from their shared life of secrets and spying, as every Trevino eventually does. They have settled down in a small village to the east of Eprieta to keep watch over their children, every triumph and tribulation we face.
My siblings and I used to say Father was the captain and Mother steered the ship. Father recruited spies, struck deals and showed face to establish trust and improve our family's standing. Mother researched houses, learned the inner-workings of government, encoded messages and whispered in the ears of Eprieta's richest and most powerful. Their teamwork and carefully crafted web of influence paved the way for me to become a council member.
The oldest of the Trevino children is my brother Kyroh. Growing up, he desired a seat at the table in Eprieta's governance, but my parents decided I would be the one to become a council member instead. Kyroh has always resented me for this, and fled Eprieta soon after my election. None of us have heard from him in more than five years, though we believe he took to the sea. We hope he is safe, exploring the world and creating a happy life for himself.

My twin younger sisters Thalia and Brynn have taken over for my aunts, Jynn and Louise, in overseeing Eprieta's trade district as seamstresses. Me and my siblings are gifted shape-shifters, but Thal and Brynn are exceptional. They know exactly who to look like in order to appeal to their diverse clientele or blend into the background if they so choose. Wealthy merchants, noblewomen and common folk alike pass through Eprieta's trade district each day—leave it to Thal and Brynn to pass information from the lips of paying customers to the ears of our most trusted allies in the city faster than any carrier pigeon. The gossip and rumors my sisters hear hold great power. As Arbiter of the Veil, I wield the leverage they provide me like a bludgeon when necessary.
Then there's my younger brother Rolyn and my youngest brother Axiel.
Rolyn never remains in one place for too long. I've passed by him disguised as an elderly human beggar on the outskirts of the city while on a routine scout, and I've noticed him disguised as an orc standing stoic alongside the royal guard at political events. He never draws attention to himself, but knows how to cause a distraction to get those my family has sworn to protect to safety should danger arise. The two of us were very close growing up, and Rolyn and I have unspoken queues we use to alert each other when we do come in contact. His tips and information acquired from Eprieta's elite is some of the most interesting I log each week. The things these frivolous princes and princesses have done to maintain power...

Young Axiel is the current bar keep for "The Bottomless Bottle," a tavern in Wine Star that was built by my family generations ago and will forever be a part of our family legacy.
The barkeep is always a Trevino, and with each new Trevino behind the bar, the name and the appearance of the tavern shifts. We don't like the family tavern to become too well-known, so ask anyone in Eprieta on this day: The Bottomless Bottle is brand new.
Our tavern has had many names, including: The Whistling Kettle, kept by my Aunt Briar, Twin Chalices, kept by my Great Uncle Augustus, The Gossiping Goblet, kept by my Great, Great Aunt Isolde, and finally, Sips and Spills, kept by my Great, Great, Great Uncle Evander. Evander had the heartiest laugh, we continue to joke and laugh with his portrait in the family manor to this day.
Us Trevinos have established many safe houses and hideouts throughout Eprieta over the years, but The Bottomless Bottle is the entrance to our ancestral home. Only a Trevino can get in or out.
Behind the bar in the back storage room, you will find there is a bottle that when pulled does not budge, but moves downward like a lever and clicks into place. At the sound of the click, a small panel opens on the wall beside it, revealing a glowing mirror. When a Trevino looks directly into the mirror, it recognizes our eyes and our eyes only. This identification will activate a mechanism in the floor that creates a winding spiral staircase downward, into the depths of the Trevino Family Manor: An undercroft, completely earth-sheltered and made up of a never-ending labyrinth of secret passages, shifting rooms and chambers, the family library and our weapons storage.
Tell know one.

I often wander the manor alone at night, speaking with my ancestors' portraits from time to time, humming sweet little notes to myself in the library while immersed in one of the old ledgers. One could wander the enchanted hallways of this subterranean world for days, alone with their thoughts. This might drive others mad, but I rather enjoy it. It is rare I find myself completely and utterly alone these days. Being a council member after all, I am too easily recognized. I suppose I could understand why you might think my government seat may jeopardize the vitality of my authority as master of spies, but I assure you: I always find my way back to the shadows.
Trevinos fill our own bellies through others' mistakes and doomed ambitions. We get drunk on risk-taking and watching where the dominoes we lay eventually fall. Life is nothing but a gamble, as Aunt Briar would often say, but the trick is to light the wick and then step back—let everyone else brave the storm of a bad bet. A Trevino will always be there when the clouds part to claim our reward.

There's my story. Should you ever require the services of the Arbiter of the Veil, you can often find me in Wine Star, never too far from The Bottomless Bottle. I'll probably spot you long before you spot me...
