The Myth of the Lighthouse

Shining in the distance. Its light BRINGS HOPE. An abstracted rendition of thoughts.

Upon a stormy, tumultuous, tempestuous, turbulent and angry sea sailed I for a long, long time

Tossed upon life's dark, windswept, boisterous, fiery and impassioned waves

Threatened by the choppy, thundery, squally and blustery motions of the rocking, tossing and uncertain motions of the ship

I clasped my hands in silent, sometimes dreadfully loud supplications to the Gods for a safe harbor to direct my harried vessel

Alas, there, shining in the distance, a light I do see.........

From the heavens the bricks, mortar, and cement did fall as it was fashioned as if by magic, mystic, supernatural or spiritual means, into the likeness of a tower reaching towards the skies, a bright light shone from the topmost turret.

It was then that thankfully, I espied the lighthouse. Its distant light burned with such welcoming fervour, I knew then that I would be saved

My ship I then guided, rocking and rolling, tilting and swerving through the wild and windy shoals

"Ahoy there". I shouted to the keeper of the glorious life saving lighthouse, though I knew he could hear me not, the wind blowing at such gusts

He waved and beckoned me come hither, even nearer and nearer to the haven of the rocky shoreline

I had been saved, rescued by the kind and tender mercies of the creator

My ship now gladly, had sailed gracefully, gratefully and happily these past many months

It had brought joy, freedom of expression and creativity to my wind tossed soul

Bound for joy and happiness, I sailed day by day, eager to paint my words upon the canvas

I sent prayers up to the heavens for such a wonderous gift

It offered release from life's incessant and much pressing stresses

Pouring pure, fragrantly fresh, cleansing fountains of welcome water

Upon a wind tossed and weary soul

Yet now another storm I see brewing. The ship has now to face many new challenges

My soul grows weary, my peace now threatened by pressures newly dictated by the creators of my peaceful and languid relaxed existence

The lighthouse now begins to crumble, its light grows dimmer and dimmer as I rack my mind for the rhyme or reason for another storm

Life is never linear, unswerving, undeviating, direct or unbending

It is asymmetrical. The absence of, or a violation of symmetry, being invariant to a transformation, such as reflection......

Symmetry is an important property of both physical and abstract systems which may be displayed in precise terms or in more aesthetic terms.....

The absence of or violation of symmetry that are either expected or desired can have adverse, important consequences for a system....

Choose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or be left behind

The myth of perfect peace and harmony of the lighthouses of life is again being put to the test of my mettle!

The lighthouse must stand firm. It is born of a desire for strength, might and fortitude in the face of adversity!!

Thankfully the foundation is being strengthened, the Gods have ordained it to be so

Hmmmm!!!!! Life is made up of choices.

CHOOSE THE PEACE OF THE LIGHTHOUSE!

Novel this was such a great tension-filled story! I love the concept and narrative you chose, it paired well with you great use of vivid foreboding imagery! I like that the storms and lighthouse are metaphors for the turbulence we experience in life! Very clever and so well executed! This was beautiful and an inspirational piece for me! I learned a new word today: espied!! Thanks for adding to my vocabulary!
