Chapter 1

(Writer) It was a quiet and warm morning in Summerfield. All families were in their own houses. The new living arrangement for the Hope family had remained constant for a period of months. It was the last day of the half term break for schools in Summerfield. Joy and Sarah were loving being able to embrace it together. They were relaxing and getting everything out that they wanted to say to avoid talking in the cinema.

(Me) “I am still sort of upset with my dad but I can see he is turning from his old ways. He spent an hour here last week and he didn’t shout at all. Then he showed us a picture when he threw his box of cigarettes away so I can now begin to feel my dad is a different person. I hope if it continues they will get back together” I expressed. “It will happen in its own time Sarah” Joy responded. “Might be sooner than later” I couldn’t sit still. “How so?” Joy required more information. “They’re just starting to be civil so I don’t know, let’s see” I supposed. “Cool, now let’s go and see a tail of two gold-diggers and who is the worse” Joy stated. “I know already” I boasted. “Sarah, you watched it without me?” Joy tried to interrogate me. “No from the trailer, I can’t do that to you. At least I think I know” I confidently looked at her. “Who do you think it will be then?” I was tested. “Brenda” I kept my cool. “Okay, we’ll see if you are accurate” Joy picked up her bag. “Mum! We’re going to the cinema, be back around 6!” I made my mum aware. “Bye darling!” My mum had been informed.

(Writer) The girls made sure this time they got on the right buses and paid for the tickets and popcorn. They had to make sure that there wasn’t a repeat of the last time when they miscalculated the total cost. The best friends felt they couldn’t face the staff so were at another cinema. When their hands were full, they went to watch the movie.

After the movie, they used their remaining change to buy more popcorn. The best friends started looking for the bus stop, where their bus would come to take them home. “I guess you were right, just wanted to pose as the opposition” Sarah’s best friend said. “You know what? I’m not actually sure who was the culprit, maybe I’m not right” Sarah considered. “I think you did that on purpose, opposing my opposition but anyway it was a great movie. But it really isn’t good to be a gold digger” Joy believed. “I agree with you J, because after it’s like you are left with nothing when it goes wrong” Sarah made an evaluation. “Can’t disagree with you babe” she supported the view of her best friend. “Of course not, there’s no need to” Miss Smith smiled till she was on the verge of laughter. “What’s funny?” Joy invited me to share. “I wanted to make a random comment, totally unrelated to the movie” Sarah told her. “Let’s hear it” she motivated her. “I’m so glad I have Sam” Sarah explained the reason for her smile. “I know you are, my coolest guy friend” Joy declared.

(Me) I got home surprisingly a little earlier than I claimed I would, meaning dinner wasn’t ready. So I decided to pack my school bag and iron my school clothes. After, I took my Bible to read. “Sarah, can you..Sorry sweetheart when you finish” my mum didn’t want to stop me.

Half an hour later I joined my mother in the kitchen as I heard the clutter of pots. “Hi darling, you done?” My mum implored. “Yeah, what did you need?” I wanted to be of help. “I wanted to tell you to get the saucepan out and get everything ready, but you got me out of bed” mum seemed relaxed.

An hour later I was asked to get the plates out to serve the food. Next, I got the drinks that we all like and put them in the middle of the table. We blessed the food and then poured our drinks into our glasses. “Mum, your letter reminding you to pay the bills” I showed the envelope to my mum while taking a sip of my drink. “Thanks darling, just put it on the coffee table for me” I put a forkful of food in my mouth before doing so. “I wish dad was here” Tom sadly mentioned. “He only visited us some days ago” my mum reminded him. “I know but that was for only 40 minutes. If he was here everyday he would be the one to pay the bills and I’d have my dad again” Tom replied. “You will always have your dad and he will come again soon so don’t be sad, ok kiddo” my mum said. “Only he calls me kiddo” he made it clear. “Sorry, ok Tommie?” My mum had to please him. “Okay mum” he accepted and we finished our meal while occasionally talking.

(Writer) Soon after, the dining room was back to how it would be as if they were leaving the house. Tom started to doze off so the mother of two held his hand and took him to bed after saying goodnight to her daughter.

It was now Monday, the first day of school. Tom and Sarah were driven to their various schools.

“Hey sweet bear” Sam saw his girlfriend approaching him. “Hey sir dreamy” she hugged him, “did you have a good half term?” Sam sought a general overview from her. “I did, it ended too quickly unfortunately” she handed out her opinion. “Yeah even if it was two weeks, I would feel the same” Sam supposed. “Nah that will be too long” Sarah did not prefer. “Not for me, I’d have gone out every single night” his girlfriend raised her eyebrow. “Alright, maybe not, I’ll be giving my bed a massage” he stopped exaggerating. “You’ve never given me a massage, that’s fine” she pointed out. “It can be arranged” he didn’t mind. “No thank you” the offer was rejected. “How about going out tonight?” Miss Smith’s boyfriend proposed. “Sure” she completed the evening arrangement. “Cool will come for you around 7” Sam turned to her while walking backwards. “That is what in military time?” she teased him. “I’ll come for you around 7” Sam repeated. She stuck her thumb out.

(Me) As planned we went out in the evening, obviously after having a normal day in school. I was brought back at the expected time.

The next day at school, I stood outside the main office. Not because I had done anything wrong but Joy asked me to wait for her there. I saw her approaching me even though she was deeply distracted by a book she had opened in her hand. “Hey Joy” I greeted my best friend and heard no answer. “Hey Joy!!” I yelled. “Huh, what?!” The book dropped. “I didn’t know you were into poetry” I picked it up from the floor and scanned the front cover. “I wasn’t till last night, that’s why I didn’t talk much during your date with Sam” Joy made sense. “Ah yeeeah, I told Sam that didn’t sound like you” I understood fully. “Shut up, anyway I saw it lying about and mum and Jay weren’t in so I took it and read it and couldn’t put it down” Joy sorted out my suspicion. “Whoa! What a special book” I was surprised. “(laughs) I know. After, I researched the author and saw she will personally be at a poetry reading tonight...” “Joy, sorry to interrupt ladies, I just need to borrow Joy for 10 minutes or so” Joy was interrupted by a teacher. “Don’t go anywhere” she pointed at me. “Wouldn’t dream of it” I said to her.

Not long after I was joined by Sam “hey Sarah”, “hi Sam” I replicated his greeting. “I found out Joy had a date with a book” I revealed. “I guess she had more fun than we did” I hit Sam. “Only because she normally would have been texting you and flashing, that’s all” he cleared up. “That better be what you meant” I commanded. “It is. I had fun and I want to take you to another place tonight, may we?” Sam asked. “Yeah, we may” I laughed. “This time you pick the time” Sam wanted to know. “I will text you” I didn’t know what time to give. “Alright see you later, need to see a teacher” Sam notified me. “Why am I the only one not seeing a teacher?” I realised I was the odd one out and Sam shrugged his shoulders, before he walked the right way.

10 minutes after that I saw Joy running towards me and I moved to the side to stop her bashing into me. “Sorry Sarah. As I was saying I have to go to the poetry reading and I have to go with you” Joy finished her request. “Sorry J, Sam asked me out a few minutes after you went with Miss Stewart” I broke it to her. “But you went out just yesterday” I knew she was right, “I know but he did ask me first. It sounds really good so next time they have one I will definitely come” I promised. “She only visits once in the year” Joy mentioned. “Sorry J, if I say I will come, by the time we get there it will be over” I guessed. “I didn’t want Sam to come, it’s just us and I hope you’re not planning to do that every time” Joy said. “Do what?” I was puzzled. “Add him to our plans” Joy gave detail. “Joy, remember he is your close friend and wants to share your interests” I felt like I had to tell her. “Yes I know but sometimes I just want you there. You only are thinking about having us altogether all the time” Joy accused me unfairly so I argued back. “No not all the time, our sleepovers and chilling sessions are just me and you and Sam knows not to disturb”. “It will be the next time we both ask you to do something, you will choose Sam, even if it’s not my fault I didn’t get to you first” Joy predicted. “You can’t say I will choose Sam but I’m not promising you I won’t especially if it’s valentines day or something” I spoke the truth. “I’m not stupid, I know not to disturb you then but basically you are telling me he is more important to you than me” I started feeling uncomfortable. “No he is not but he is my boyfriend” I didn’t want to deny. “Yes Sarah, you don’t need to keep saying you have a boyfriend” Joy started to react negatively. “I only said it once” I emphasized. “Yes, but I already know so why do you have to say it?” Joy questioned. “Stop being a drama queen and silly” I imposed on her. “First you rub it in my face that you have a boyfriend and now you call me silly?” Joy started to raise her voice. “If you’re going to pick on that you might as well mention drama queen and you are being silly right now” I boldly told her. “No, I’m not you are choosing to go out with Sam instead of supporting me and doing something that is important to me, seeing the poet when I don’t know when I will see her again” Joy repeated. “Joy I told you it’s because he asked me first” I reinstated. “You are saying he is first in your life and more special than I am, so I will go by myself!” Joy started to yell and walked away It was near the end of school when I started to regret what I said. Then I started to hate myself for letting it go as far as it did.

3 hours after calling her a couple of times, I didn’t allow myself to say hi but just started to apologize, “Joy, I’m so, so, so sorry I said all the horrible things I did. I was upset about how you were speaking to me and how things were getting made me panic. Please let me have my title as your best friend back. You are truly my best friend, please, please forgive me”. “I’m so sorry too and I so forgive you” Joy communicated. “Are you sure we’re okay?” I wanted to be sure. “Yes we are” I was affirmed. “Great I have news to tell you” I laid down. “Dish girl” we had solved our differences.

Chapter 2

(Writer) A couple of days went past and both Sam and Joy had exciting news for Sarah that they didn’t want to say on the phone. Much to Joy’s misfortune, Sam got to announce his good news first. “Cuteness, my dad told me that a new celebrity is going to sign a record label with him and he told me he wants me there” he paused. “Awesome honey, you will have lots of fun” she basked in what she now knew. “No I don’t want to have lots of fun without you, you wanna come?” Sam petitioned his girlfriend. “Your dad didn’t invite me” Sarah realised. “He will only say no if there’s not enough space but there is” he confidently brought up. “I have to find out if Joy wants us to do anything tonight” Sarah delayed in making a decision. “As a matter of fact I do. Megan’s mother will be signing her books for people. She invited the glitter girls to come which will be a nice thing to do together before our first meeting next week. Can you come?” Joy requested “Sam just asked me to go with him and his dad to an event” Sarah said. “Yet again you said yes because I was too late” Joy presumed. “I haven’t said yes yet” Sarah spoke. “Oh good because you did promise. What do you say?” Joy required. Sarah looked and felt puzzled at this moment then “you know what babe it wouldn’t be that exciting you go with Joy and send me some nice pictures” Sam gave in. “Honey, are you sure?” Sam had to affirm her. “Yeah I will tell you how it goes, I will see if I can get one picture” he said. “Thank you Sam. So we can go to your house after school, see you later” Joy left them. “Are you really ok babe?” Sarah asked. “Yeah, are you?” Sam asked back. “Yeah” Sarah replied. “It doesn’t look like it, come here” he hugged her. Next, he started to tickle her, making her giggle incessantly and shortly after “Sam stop!” Sarah pleaded. “Just in time we have to go to our next lesson anyway” he held her hand and they went to their lesson.

In the evening Sam went with his dad to the entertainment store to meet and talk with the recording artist. Up until a few minutes of being there Sam felt sad but he remembered his sacrifice and started to enjoy himself. However Sarah, though she was in an electrifying atmosphere and everyone was having fun she was missing Sam. She appreciated him for letting her come and not making her feel guilty but a part of her wished he hadn’t have made her go. Without her awareness Joy saw how she looked and felt and tried to make her feel involved but it was like she wasn’t there. For the last 10 minutes Miss Smith tried to engage and smiled a bit.

When all the girls had been dropped off at home, Joy got down with Sarah at her home and expressed her feelings. “I can’t believe we had such an amazing time but you wouldn’t know because you weren’t there” Joy noticed. “I was there” Sarah responded. “No you weren’t. Part of the reason I invited you was so I can have fun with my best friend” Miss Hope gave a reason. “That is what we did, I stuck to my promise” Sarah alleged. “No you didn’t, you still chose Sam over me. If you don’t want to have fun with me, it is very clear. You couldn’t even crack a smile and show support. Thank you for showing me who is the most important to you, goodnight” Joy went out of the Smith residence. “Sarah what happened?” Mrs Smith asked her daughter. “Nothing, everything is fine” she ran upstairs.

The next day at school, Sam saw his girlfriend, hugged her and told her how much he missed her. He asked if she took pictures he could see and she told him she didn’t. So he showed her his pictures and Miss Smith saw he had a good time and she wished she was with him. He told her all about it during their breaks and told her the funny things that happened which made her laugh. At some point Joy could see how happy her best friend was and she felt hurt that she wasn’t being thought of. So she sent out a message that the glitter club meeting would happen during lunchtime without Miss Smith’s knowledge.

Throughout the day, Miss Smith tried to contact Miss Hope via text and face to face but it was not received politely. Even in a lesson where they always sat next to each other, Joy sat as far away from her as possible. Even at lunchtime Miss Smith didn’t reply to her boyfriend’s message or call so that she could locate Joy, at the time the club introductory meeting was happening. After hanging in there till half of the lunch break she replied to her boyfriend so that they could meet up. Both Sam and Sarah engaged in conversation but for seconds at a time she seemed sombre.

In the meantime, all the glitter girl club members were paying attention to all the plans for moving forward from Joy. She was interrupted by a clap and a snap from one of the girls. “This all sounds sensational but Sarah is not here to hear any of this, where is she?” A girl asked. “She had other things to do, this is clearly not as important to her, so let’s carry on” Joy gave an excuse. As the girls couldn’t see Sarah, the girl who spoke up took her bag and left. Since she felt that this idea was what Joy and Sarah worked on she felt uncomfortable that Sarah wasn’t there.

At the end of the school day Sarah tried again to reach out to Joy and she was unsuccessful and felt like breaking down in front of Sam. She talked to him about her many failed attempts at getting Joy to speak to her. So they were going to go out in the evening to spend quality time, as well as discuss what she needed to do.

(Me) Sam and I revisited the issue between me and Joy during our date, of course after we focused on ourselves and bonded. We came to a horrible conclusion which I will reveal after trying one more time to talk to Joy tomorrow.

It is now Tuesday and in between our first and second lesson I tried to apologize again and Joy completely ignored me. I told Sam on text that the mission had to be launched. The plan is that Sam and I won’t hang out for a whole week so everyday I can go to Joy’s house and beg for forgiveness. We carried it out after school near Joy’s house. It literally felt like we were splitting up, this is how it went: “Sam, baby, I know this is so sad but we have to do this for Joy. I don’t want to lose her for good” I expressed. “I know, I’m only forcing myself to do this because I care about her. I will miss you and you better think of me” Sam compelled me to do. “I was hopeful you will say you will be thinking about me” I suspected. “You know that already but I want you to always think of me for the week” Sam desired. “Of course I will honeybuzz” I hugged him so tightly and he reacted with the same energy. He kissed me on my forehead but I quickly held him and smelt his cologne. I was not shy to leave a few tears on his top. “I will walk you to the gate and leave you there, should we walk slowly or quickly?” Sam wondered. “Quickly for 2 minutes and slowly for 2 minutes” I had a preference for.

He kissed my hand and when he left I stood there for 20 minutes thinking Joy should have been there by now. Then I heard her singing, I yelled Joy several times and she kept on singing. She went to her house and I continued to call her name through the window but no one came to the door.

I tried the next day, before I got to talk to Jay, Joy’s cousin. “Sorry Sarah, Joy demanded that I don’t let you in” Jay let me know. “Well I will have to come here everyday till I talk to her” I insisted. “You really shouldn’t have said what you said to her and acted the way you did to provoke this reaction” Jay reminded me. “I know and I feel so bad. To make things right, Sam and I haven’t gone out for 2 days, neither have I bothered to call lest I miss him too much” I wanted to not have to face. “Wow, that’s rough. Well I think you’ve suffered enough, so just keep coming” Jay advised. “I will wait for another hour and then go home” I told her. “Come inside” Jay left me to go upstairs.

The next day in science I saw Joy crying a little at the back and my heart sank. It was then I realised there had to be another solution. After talking to my mum, I had the idea to buy something to show I was truly sorry. After school I went with the gift to her house and I was determined to stay till she forgave me. “Joy, I’m so, so, so, so sorry. I really mean it, I will not disrespect you ever again. I need you. You are my best friend and I don’t want anyone else, please Joy you mean so much to me that I stopped seeing Sam for this week to make things right. Please open the door” I couldn’t contain my tears any longer and Joy opened the door and hugged me. I apologized once again and she promised to forgive me and have the same respect for my relationship with Sam as ours. She told me they had the first gg club meeting but no real decisions had been put in place and that not everyone came because I wasn’t there. Half an hour away from that point I went home.

Later on Sam called me and told me that he made things right with Joy. We decided we still weren’t going out till the Wednesday after so we talked on the phone instead.

Chapter 3

(Writer) Joy and Sarah had the official meeting the next day for most of their lunchtime. “Hey girls, sorry we had our first meeting without Sarah. We had some technical difficulties” Joy apologized. “You so don’t get how happy we are that it’s still on. We have no life without glitter” Megan, one of the club members, admitted. “Worry no further girls, because we have so many ways in mind to use glitter” Joy explained. “Well come on, what are you waiting for?” another member called Sally wondered. “First we need to make a poster that we can hang in the hall to advertise the club, if anyone wants to join” Sarah allowed Joy to continue from where she stopped. “We need to assign roles then we can get it out of the way and share treats and ideas” Joy gave a simple to-do list. They did exactly that and after goofing off and pigging out they discussed their glitter fashions. After they were done it was time for the final class of the day.

Two days later,

(Me) Sunday- today was the fourth time that we arrived at Church before the Bible study began, so we found out the new topic. We really enjoyed it and tried to contribute whether we were picked on or not. Then in praise and worship, the choir taught us a new song and a new lady joined them called auntie Eleanor, but I can call her aunt Elly. So today I really feel it was exciting because it was all new. Even the sermon was called walking in the newness of life.

After Church I helped Tina with Victory Care and helped tidy up the Sunday School room because a boy had turned 2 and there was a party. Then I socialised with a few aunties and uncles as well as Joy, Jay and Sam.

When I was done and we were one of the last people I saw my mum talking to Pastor James. For a portion of my spying, she had quite a serious look on her face then she laughed so I relaxed.

We got home at 1:30pm and mum had to quickly finish preparing lunch because Tom was whining that he was hungry. My mum said he could make a sandwich but he instead asked permission to eat the cake and crisps from the party (rolls eyes). How much of his day is an act?

Anyway by just after 2pm, we ate our lunch and had a small conversation. When I finished, I washed the plates and tidied the house.

At 4pm, Joy called me because Mrs Hope told Joy and Jay, Jay will be joining our school. So I was going to help them out with her uniform and when my mum told me Pastor James was coming for a visit. I had to help prepare some drinks and snacks. Luckily, my mum let me finish chatting to my girls beforehand.

Pastor James came at 6pm and after having a drink and some refreshments, Tom and I had to excuse them. I closed the door and Tom tried to listen but I pulled him away and pushed him to his room before I entered mine.

(Writer) “Charlotte, how have you found our Church? Do you believe you have found it easy to settle in?” Pastor James wanted to know. “Yes Pastor James, I’m very glad that you accepted my children and I into your family” Charlotte answered. “Wonderful and how is the father of your children?” Pastor James questioned. “He is great thank you” Mrs Smith responded. “Does he still not want to be in the children’s lives?” The pastor posed an assumption. “Oh no he is very much in the children’s lives but we are separated. He lives just outside Summerfield” Mrs Smith clarified. “So it’s that you do not get along?” The pastor was investigating. “We are now on good terms” he was told. “You have been hurt and there’s a problem that you think should be fixed” the man who received hospitality guessed. “No Pastor, there’s no problem. We had a good talk about everything some weeks ago and it’s fine” Charlotte belittled his guess.

The Pastor continued to talk in a way to show he knew she was hiding something and eventually she broke down. Charlotte was offered words of comfort before he gave his advice.

“My dear sister, you have been feeling this way because you refuse to forgive. You are struggling with it because you haven’t committed your life to Jesus Christ. We are overjoyed that you’ve fellowshipped with us these last weeks but we prefer that you are closer to God. I would like to lead you to do that if you are ready” Charlotte was offered. “Yes Pastor” Charlotte nodded. “Heavenly Father, we are grateful for our lives. We admire your work in us. We love your grace. We need you in every area of our lives. I pray for my sister Charlotte that you will heal all her pain and show her the love she needs. We ask that you come into her heart to beautify her life” Pastor paused. “Amen” Mrs Smith said. “Charlotte repeat after me, dear Lord I need you to come into my life and make me whole again”, “dear Lord I need you to come into my life and make me whole again”. “Help me to forgive and help me to trust you” “help me to forgive and help me to trust you”. “I surrender my life to you. Help me to obey your will and use me for good works in Jesus’ name” “I surrender my life to you. Help me to obey your will and use me for good works in Jesus’ name”. “Amen” “amen”. “I welcome you officially to God’s family. I want you to please lead your children in that prayer. Remember I am praying for you” Pastor James told her. “Thank you Pastor” the mother of 2 replied. “I better make my way before you offer me more food though you have rejected my wife’s rice” he alleged. “Oh Pastor, you haven’t offered me any” Mrs Smith added. “You rejected it with your reaction. You think our food is too spicy, hmm?” The pastor conversed with Charlotte. “I wouldn’t know but I can try it” Sarah’s mother declared. “You’ve been delivered from fear so be bold” Mrs Smith laughed. “Thank you again, stay blessed and greet your wife for me” the pastor left.

The next day at Summerfield Secondary School Jay was welcomed by many of the teenagers and even in the glitter girl club. Joy’s cousin was also given a timetable, diary planner and stationery.

While Charlotte was at work she decided to call the father of her children “hello Kirk”. “Hello dear I hope you didn’t call me by mistake” Kirk hoped. “No how are you?” Charlotte required. “I am great and yourself?” Kirk checked on his children’s mother’s wellbeing. “Also fine thank you” she invoked. “I was thinking about you because I found out that our school’s 60th reunion is on Friday. would you like to go?” Kirk enquired. “I’d love to, can you send me the invitation please?” Charlotte inquired. “Oh I take it you wouldn’t want us to go together” Kirk assumed. “I would but I just want to see how they designed it” Mrs Smith mentioned. “Oh okay, are we going in your car or mine?” Kirk beseeched. “Your car is fine” approved Mrs Smith. “Alright it starts at 7pm so will pick you up at 6:30pm” Kirk planned. “I’ll see you then, have a good week” Mrs Smith wished and cut the line.

After school (3:45pm) Sarah and her friends were slowly making their way to their meeting place. “I’m so glad that you and Joy have made up Sarah” Jay remarked. “That was like a week ago Jay” Sarah alerted Joy’s cousin. “Well, the days between your two fights was quite short so at least you have made it this far” Jay stated. “We will not let it happen again” Sarah asserted. “Absolutely and neither will Sam” Joy inserted. “How did I come into this?” Sam asked. The girls giggled and Miss Smith held her boyfriend’s hand as they kept walking home.

(Me) Hey, I haven’t talked to you for the whole day. I got home not long ago and I was told about a surprise. My mum told me that she was going out with my dad on Friday and I’m so excited. I don’t know where they are going. For all we know they are only going to do shopping for my dad but it’s better than nothing. I don’t want to tell Joy about it because I know she will tell me not to get excited but deep down she knows its a big deal. I won’t even tell Sam and you can’t make me. I will just quietly jubilate in my own corner. Now I’m going to do my homework, update my glitter girl page, write up every role for each glitter girl then message my boyfriend. What? I’m not trying to rub it in your face, the girls who are reading as I’m sure you have boyfriends or at least admirers. I will probably get back to you tomorrow morning if I don’t oversleep. See ya.

On Wednesday..

You must stop thinking I have forgotten the days of the week and that Tuesday comes before today but yesterday was kind of busy. It was a normal morning up until I got to school. It was sprung on us that we were going to have a test in English. We were initially waiting in the classroom for our teacher for 10 minutes. Then we were told our teacher wasn’t in so we had to go to the canteen while they found cover.

At the time the cover teacher turned up we were told about the test and were split up. I became anxious as I hadn’t done my general revision for a while but I just had to do my best.

An hour later we were all confused and annoyed because the test was a different class that the cover was in charge of. Regardless, I thought I did well. For the rest of the day, I suppose it wasn’t too bad but we were individually taken out to do a cross-curricular quiz, which thankfully we were given credits for.

When we were released, we decided to go and chill out somewhere. Joy decided to exempt herself to check what she was certain she didn’t get right. Jay, Sam and I had a good time and made sure we sent Joy some videos.

Although what was more exciting for me alone was what happened today. I woke up late and I had to quickly get dressed. My mum said she would take me so I went downstairs to have breakfast and I heard my mum talking on the phone to someone, who was making her laugh. Are you also wondering who it is? “I’ll see you on Friday (laughs)” my mum ended the call. “Mum, I thought you were going out with dad on Friday” I wanted affirmation. “I am, that was your dad. I’ll tell you what he said in the car but for now wash your plate and let’s go” mum gave me an instruction. I’m telling you I’m piling up my evidence. Am off to school now.

Thursday evening- My mum told me that we were going to eat cocktail beef and tuna casserole, which Tom and I don’t particularly mind but my mum detests. In my confusion, I still had to be the best assistant, watching my mum’s every step in case I ever had to make it. However 20 minutes after it all made sense. My mum opened the door and I saw my dad 30 seconds later. Then of course as soon as Tom saw him he said “dad!!” Tom embraced him like he hadn’t seen him for a year. “Are you here to pay the bills?” Tom didn’t want his hopes crashed. “No kiddo, I’m here to have dinner with you” my dad responded. “Are mum and Sarah going out?” Tom enquired. “No we’re eating altogether” my dad enjoined. “Ok, it’s just because I know mum doesn’t like that” Tom knew. “I’ve made it more special so let’s bless the food and enjoy” my mum said.

(Writer) Mr Smith did not close his eyes but waited for his family before he ate. Everyone in the Smith family were pleasantly being entertained and Miss Smith was over the moon. It was here and now that she started to imagine how a getting back together party for her parents would go and she decided to tell Joy the full story.

After they finished eating, all contributed to the cleaning up. The Smith family watched the comedy programme and this time Sarah kept looking at her dad, to check if he was laughing too. The children and mother went to sleep when Mr Smith left the house and the front door was locked.

The next morning Sam’s awareness that his girlfriend was walking towards him made him smile exuberantly. You know that she shared in his joy but mostly her focus was on Joy to tell her the news.

Sarah held Sam’s hand and whispered in Joy’s ear that they needed to discuss something important before school started.

Chapter 4

(Me) Joy and I sent Sam off to his friends and Jay to her new acquaintances before going to talk in one of the science rooms. “Joy, my house in the last couple of days has been a peaceful and joyful atmosphere” I reported. “Hmm did I sleepwalk into your house or something?” Joy required. I laughed, “no my parents have been so much nicer to each other. Mum ate his favourite food that she always complained about when we were younger. Also they’re going out today in the evening” I shared more. “That is lovely and amazing, you must be tingling all over” Joy predicted. “You know me already, so I have even started planning a get back together party for them, do you want to help me?” I asked. “Are you sure that it is a good idea?” Joy questioned. “Yes, it makes me feel so wonderful that we will be a complete family very soon. You know how I’ve wanted that for so long” I stated. “I know but it might be too soon” Joy guessed. “It won’t be now, maybe a month’s time to allow more progress but I’m very sure it’s going to happen” I asserted. “There’s no chance of being disappointed then?” Joy wondered. “Nope, don’t think so” I answered. “Great, so you need me to help you?” Joy asked. “Isn’t that what I asked you from the beginning?” I thought. “I was more concerned that you weren’t getting ahead of yourself. So what time tomorrow?” Joy requested. “9am” I told Joy. “Okay then, let’s head to class” we stood up and left the room.

5pm- Sorry the rest of the school day was boring but now it’s only 2 hours for my mum and dad to go out and I can’t wait. It hit me that I had to babysit Tom so I made sure my mum talked to him so that he behaves himself. I’m watching my mum sort out her hair and makeup as she started before I got there. I supported her where she needed it. My mum looked so beautiful, who wouldn’t fall in love with her all over again. I complimented her and she looked more excited as the time got nearer.

“Mum, have you finished making the Jacket potato roast?” Tom asked. “Oh no honey, sorry I completely forgot about it. Your sister can make it for you okay?” My mum checked. “No I want you to do it, you still have time” Tom answered. “Tom, it will take a long time and I have to leave soon with your dad, Sarah you can make it for your brother isn’t it?” I was asked. “Yeah of course” I affirmed. He crossed his arms and stomped into the living room. “Have fun mum, Sam is calling me” I let her know and went upstairs.

(Writer) It soon became quarter to 7 and Mrs Smith was still waiting for Mr Smith, and felt upset as this is one thing she couldn’t stand while they were living together.

When he eventually came, he gave her a corsage in her favourite colour and she cheered up.

The parents left at quarter past 7pm and Tom went to his sister’s bedroom door. “Sarah, I’m hungry can you make the roast now?” Tom requested. “Ok I will be there in 5 minutes” Sarah told him. When she came downstairs she talked to her friends on 1 platform as she cooked. In the middle of it Tom went to the kitchen and saw where she had got to. “Mum doesn’t do it like that’s, it’s wrong” Tom shared his opinion. “It’s basically the same, you will like it” Sarah assured him. “No I want it the way mum makes it” Tom whined. “Okay but I have to finish this and start again’ Sarah was sincere. “Fine!” Tom crossed his arms. “You will like it” Sarah believed. “Whatever” Tom left his sister’s presence.

Truly, truly Tom really enjoyed the food and went for seconds. The siblings ate in silence until they were finished. They both went to bed around the same time.

(Me) Good morning. I slapped Joy’s palm as she arrived and we rushed up. We decided what our plan would be and started. First we wrote out the banner that said ‘Congratulations Kirk and Charlotte” then coloured it in felt pens. We also added a glitter gel pen border to each letter.

After a while I realised something important, “though our ideas are fantastic, my mum’s ideas is what we should work with, don’t you think so?” I asked. “Yeah good point” Joy agreed. “So let’s go out and when I come back I will find out what she wants” I decided. We held up the banner together, then “Sarah” my mum called me. “Hi mum, we’re going out. I will come back in the evening, here you go” we handed it to her and ran out.

(Writer) Mrs Smith looked at it and decided she will ask about it when her daughter returned.

On the way, they saw Sarah’s boyfriend and he greeted her with a kiss. “Would you like to hang out?” Sam requested. “Tomorrow we can after Church, yeah?” Sarah checked it was ok. “Ok, tomorrow then” he kissed her cheek and strolled on. “So where would you like to hang out?” Sarah asked. “Um, how about the cinema, there’s this movie out called ‘what a sweet life! It’s a romantic comedy filled with action and it’s about...” Joy got interrupted. “Don’t tell me what it’s about, you will ruin the surprise” Sarah told Joy. “Okay then” Joy replied.

They paid for transport, popcorn, drinks and tickets. The film ended at 6pm.

(Me) we waited for bus 62 to take us to my house. “Mrs Smith, can I call my folks to pick me up?” Joy requested. “Sure you can, darling” my mum allowed. Joy dialled her home number and placed the phone to her ear. “Dad, can you come and pick me up please?” Joy solicited. “You aren’t here, I thought you were in your room” Mr Hope joked. “Dad?!” Joy exclaimed. “(laughs) I’m just joking, will be there soon” Mr Hope said.

Joy was picked up 27 minutes after and it was time for Charlotte to find out about the banner. “Sarah, come here please” Charlotte called her daughter.

“Sarah, who are Charlotte and Kirk?” Mrs Smith asked. “You and dad” Sarah replied plainly. “Ok now tell me why you are congratulating us” Mrs Smith told her daughter. “On your remarriage duh” her daughter replied. “What? Who told you we were getting remarried?” Charlotte questioned. “No one but yesterday you went out and I’m sure you had a great time as you didn’t come back till after 11” Sarah explained. “We went to our 60th school reunion and we got there just before 8” the teenager’s mother justified. “Well, you made and had dad’s favourite that you used to hate and you went out for breakfast this morning” the younger family member argued. “It’s still because of the reunion and I liked the way I made it” the mother had her answers. “Ok, he gave you flowers and he made you laugh the other day” the daughter didn’t give up. “You didn’t find it funny Sarah and now I think of it, it has lost its value” Mrs Smith reasoned. “It doesn’t matter if I didn’t find it funny but you did at the time and you get on well” Sarah shared a view. “That’s exactly what it is we are just trying to get along not get back together” the mother summed it up. “It’s the same thing though” Joy’s best friend implied. “No it’s not. We can’t get back together okay” Sarah moved back and ran upstairs. “Sarah! Sarah!” Her bedroom door was slammed and Charlotte sat down, feeling guilty.

There was a knock on the door so Charlotte went to answer it. “Hi Kirk” she welcomed Mr Smith in, who was looking quite frantic. As a result of what being honest did to her daughter she hadn’t noticed to ask questions. Mr Smith rushed to the living room, looking for something. Then he picked up a piece of paper and saw Charlotte looking at him, thinking he needed to inform her. “Sarah is upset because we’re not getting back together” Sarah’s mother revealed. “What gave her that idea?” He tried to make her believe that he thought it was preposterous. “Going to the reunion together, me cooking and eating your favourite, our breakfast this morning and the phone call” Mrs Smith finished listing. “Wow and it’s not true?” Tom’s father asked. “You know it’s not true. We have been separated for over a year now” Sarah’s mum answered. “Yeah but haven’t you ever wondered what it would be like, getting back together?” Kirk Smith asked. “We need to focus on what we can do about our daughter” Sarah’s mum stated the truth.

(Me) I’ve decided to start saving some money so I don’t have to ask my mum. I’m upset with my mum because she was sending me all those signals and yet it didn’t mean anything.

The next school day, I ignored my mum and rushed off to school.

At school I saw Sam and I gave him a kiss then he asked me out. “I would love to go my hunk” I replied. “Mr Jones, I would like to see you in my office please” one of Sam’s subject teacher said. “Oh man” Sam responded. “What did you do?” I asked. “I didn’t hand my homework in on the deadline and I kept on doodling pictures of me and you while he was teaching. Then he called me a few times and when I answered I said huh. Now I have to face the consequences of having the most amazing girlfriend” Sam told me. “Mr Jones!” Sam’s name was yelled. Aww he’s so sweet, we are gonna be together forever.

Sam messaged me when he was free from his teacher’s office and I went to pick him up and take him to his lesson. This lovely action made me late.

Back at home. I arrived at 4pm and I did all the things that I normally do. Near the end I heard “beautiful”, I turned and asked “what is?” “You are but it’s also beautiful you just spoke two words to me. Can we have a little chat please?” My mum petitioned and I sat down. With her next to me, she started “I’m sorry sweetheart”. “Sorry, for?” I implored. “Thinking that the reasons you gave for thinking your dad and I were getting remarried were baseless but they are fair points. I’m sorry for sending you those mixed signals. I don’t want you to view this in a negative way because it’s nice that we’re getting on well, when we screamed at each other even this time last year. Please be happy for us and that he still wants to be in your lives okay?” My mum asked. “Okay, mum” I accepted. “I love you” she rejoined. “I love you too” I returned. “You can finish and we can watch a movie?” Mum suggested. I nodded and smiled.

(Writer) After Miss Smith finished tidying up they watched a heartfelt movie, which made Mrs Smith reflect on God’s love. She decided to lead her daughter to be ready for a relationship with God. After, they all had dinner and got on with the rest of their evening.

When the sun had set and rose hours from then Sarah got ready to walk with her friends and boyfriend to school. They all gave each other fair opportunities to chat and contribute to their discussion topics.

A little time before lessons were about to begin, Sarah, Joy and Jay went to hear what Megan, in the glitter girls had to tell them. Then Sam’s teacher who detained him yelled “Mr Jones! I hope you remember that you still owe me 5 minutes of your break time?” Mr Barrels questioned. “Yes sir” Sam replied. “Good, you know where to find me” Mr Barrels claimed and walked away. Mr Jones’ son did not worry as break time was 25 minutes so he was going to spend 15 minutes with his girlfriend then make his way.

Therefore he did that at break, “hey gorgeous” Sam greeted his girlfriend. “Hi dreamy, how is your day going so far?” Sarah inquired. “Not good, I haven’t really enjoyed my lessons today and you also weren’t in them” he said. “Aww I wish we could change our timetables” Sarah commented. “We could do that now and I can guard the door” Sam considered and Sarah laughed. “Don’t worry we have our break time together and lunch is not far away” Sarah tried to cheer him up. “Yeah, you’re right, can we sit by the science office?” Sam enquired. “Okay” Sam put his arm around his girlfriend’s waist and they made their way somewhere which was 2 minutes away and where there was a clock. They started to converse with 17 minutes left of their break. Initially, Sam kept an eye on time then but after they got to an interesting part of the conversation he stopped surveying.

It became 4 minutes to the end of break and Mr Barrels saw him and walked over to the science office. “Mr Jones, I gave you the choice to decide when you could give me 5 minutes of your break and you are just sitting there” Mr Barrels concluded. “What?” Sarah didn’t understand. “I have been waiting for Mr Jones for 15 minutes” Mr Barrels explained. “Sam why didn’t you tell me?” Sarah queried. “So that you wouldn’t make him come. I know you Miss Smith, you are responsible unlike your classmate here. Come with me now” the adult demanded. Sam got up, looked Sarah’s way but Sarah didn’t reciprocate. Then she was late to her next class, which her teacher reacted slightly negatively to but then let her sit down.

After teaching for 15 minutes she assigned some activities to the class. Firstly, Miss Smith followed all instructions and completed 2 of the tasks but she started thinking of how Sam did not tell her he still had detention. She became so distracted 20 minutes went by. “Class in 2 minutes I will call each person row by row to show me what you have done” the teacher alerted the teenagers. Then Miss Smith began to panic and answer the first question of the third task.

10 minutes after “Miss Smith come up here please” Sarah was requested and she shook. “Miss Smith, where is the work you started with?” Miss Talbot required. “This is all I have done” Sarah confessed. “Excuse me this is all you’ve done in 40 minutes?” The teacher desired confirmation and Sarah nodded. “Then you will stay behind at break for that same 40 minutes. Go and sit down” Sarah followed the instruction and felt upset.

At the end of class, “Miss Smith I am going to get my lunch, do not go anywhere, do you understand?” The teacher expected. “Yes miss” the teacher left and she sent a message to Joy telling her she was in detention and that she could pass it to Jay but not Sam. Sam’s girlfriend began to complete her work.

10 minutes after, the teacher returned, put her food on her desk and went to Sarah. She was about to tell her to continue when she saw she was halfway. Then she went to eat.

At 12:15pm Sarah’s phone vibrated in her pocket because her boyfriend was calling her but she cleverly ignored it.

At 12:30pm she had finished, so she gave her work to her teacher. The teacher didn’t argue but started to mark the work and she sat back down.

By 12:37pm Miss Talbot approached her. “Miss Smith I was happy when I saw you just get stuck in the questions and you have done excellent work. I know you are responsible but you did not make the right choices. Please do not let this repeat itself, you may go and have your lunch” Sarah was dismissed.

Sarah went to the lunch hall, where Joy, Jay and Sam had left. She bought some food and ate alone.

Once she had finished she went straight to class instead of going to find her friends.

When it was the end of school, Sam looked for Sarah and tried to call her, but she did not answer. It was 20 minutes to 4pm when Sam walked out of school and saw her. “Sarah!” He called but she ignored him. He ran after her, “butterfly! Peaches!” She continued to not respond. “My dream girl, are you mad at me?” Sam queried but Sarah said nothing. “I didn’t see you or get through to you at lunch where were you?” Sarah just continued walking. “Cuteness, whatever I did, please forgive me” Sam pleaded. “You don’t even know what you are saying sorry for?” Sarah asked. “No, but I have to say it” Sam thought. “Then it means nothing” Sarah presumed. “But you are everything, please what did I do?” Sam required. “First you didn’t tell me you still had detention. Secondly you made me late and lastly I had to miss 40 minutes of my lunch for not completing my work” Sarah released. “Wasn’t it profitable?” Sam asked jokily. “I’m not in the mood” Sarah replied. “I am sorry” Sam said. “No you are not, you seem to find it funny, so you can carry on laughing to yourself” Sarah responded and Sam stopped her from going further. “Please cookie I’m really sorry for not telling you and making you get punished” he apologized. “Fine” she noticed. He began to tickle her, “stop it Sam” Sarah told him. “Oh she’s not even laughing” he put his head down. Then he lifted his head and saw Sarah smiling. “Ooh she’s not laughing but she is smiling. Can I put a pound anywhere to make her laugh?” He searched for a pound and she started giggling. “Oo the voice inside is automated, it knows I’m looking for the pound. I got it” Sarah began to laugh more, “okay, okay I should have just accepted the tickling. I forgive you” she let him know. “Are you sure I don’t still need the pound?” she smiled and shook her head. “How about 50p?” Sarah shook her head again and hugged him. He kissed her cheek and hugged her back. They looked into each other’s eyes, smiled and walked on.

Chapter 5

(Me) Following an hour after I settled in, I received a call from Megan, one of the glitter girls. “Hey Megan, how are you?” I beseeched. “I’m good thanks, yourself?” I could let her know how I was feeling. “Really good too, what’s up?” I asked. “My mum is going to bake cookies for a dance recital and she asked if we would like some for the club. Maybe we can have a bake sale to raise money for the School and Africa like we discussed” Megan reported. “That is really true, but there’s a problem” I replied. “What’s wrong?” Megan required. “We won’t get to taste any cookies” I explained. “Don’t worry my mum is making 500 cookies so that will be taken care of. But the children in Africa are really suffering” Megan shared. “I know. That is a really good idea but where will we keep the cookies until we sell them?” I asked. “We can put it in the oven, I already asked Miss Richie” I was impressed. “I can see you have thought deeply about it and it’s a brilliant idea. What kind of cookies would they be?” I kindly interrogated her. “Banana nut, Maple Mallow and I err forgot the other one” Megan stated. “Oh dear I complimented you too soon, you haven’t done all your research” I accused. “No it’s definitely custard cream” Megan asserted. “Ok so you know as the treasurer you have to make and print out a donation table, remember the money jar and make a flyer, right?” I wanted to make sure. “Yep but I’m going to help my mum bake first and she is about to start so I have to go. Would you like me to send you pictures of everything?” Megan entreated. “Yeah, sure” I agreed. “Ok will talk to you tomorrow” Megan said. “Ok bye” I cut the line.

I called Sam and Joy on freeway call and told them about it and after we had a general chat.

After, I did my homework, talked to my mum and went to bed just before 10. I also sent a message to the glitter girls that we have to meet to talk about who will be running the sale at what times.

Thursday- Good morning friends, this is going to be an exciting day. The cookies look scrumptious that some more girls asked to join our club. So as planned we came to our club room to have a meeting before school starts.

“Okay girls today is our bake sale, Megan has brought delicious cookies for us and its warming in the oven. Who will help her carry them because there are like 300 and she brought 3 containers. We need 3 more girls” I announced and I saw that Stephanie, Nicole and Jay put their hands up. “Okay, so at 12pm go to the kitchen, arrange them and bring them to the lower school playground. Next we will need 4 girls to carry the table. Who will come with me?” Joy requested. Melanie, Robin and Lila raised their hand. “Finally, I will bring the banner, money jar, tablecloth and napkins with Shirley, Eliza, Gail, Trisha and Hazel and we should all be there for 12:10pm for 5 minutes. We will run 3 shifts. Megan will stand at the stall first with her girls and everyone else can get their lunch” I let Joy carry on. “My girls and I will be there by 12:30 then Sarah will be here with everyone else at 12:45pm. Then we have to quickly help set down everything so we are not late for class. I hope everyone is clear in what they have to do” I said. “Yeah” the girls accepted. “Ok so we will meet at 12:10pm” we left to our various classes.

At lunchtime we carried out our plan and I must say it worked out smoothly. People kept coming, even one of the dinner ladies. My duty with the rest of the girls was short because they went like hot cakes. We decided to have a quick feedback meeting at our location.

“Okay girls our bake sale was so terrific. We have all earned 2 cookies so help yourself while I talk. Now I think it will be great if we can do this once every week so let’s bring ideas for what we can sell” I directed. “I think glitter girl notebooks” Stephanie shared. “Then we can sell cupcakes” Jay contributed. “Also salad would be a good idea because my dad makes the best salad” Nicole volunteered her dad. “I think we can even take pictures of what we make and sell those for like 20p” Lila thought. “Joy have you got all that?” I asked. “Yep, can I have my cookies now?” Joy required. “Yeah. Lastly, how much have we raised Megan?” I didn’t leave out, “£200” Megan informed us. “Now we need to also add to the money jar everyday. The maximum can be £5 a week. So has anyone got at least £1?” I required. All the girls dropped in £1.00 except for one who slotted £2 and I put in £1.50 so it meant we had £15.50 on account of 6 girls joining the club. I was already sure it would help a lot of people as well as £200 of course. “Megan now your job has begun, do you promise to keep the money safe?” Joy asked. “Yep I promise” Megan answered. “If anyone objects please raise their hand” Jay said but no hand came. “Ok Megan good luck and please report after every sale” Megan nodded and we went to class.

From that meeting week after week, break after break, lunch after lunch, money had been placed in the group and from our sales. I was being kept so busy and I knew Sam was missing our time together but I knew he understood.

Some weeks later, after Megan having done an amazing job, the glitter girls were congratulated in an assembly. We were given a certificate for raising so much money. We were told when it was sent to Africa and that it helped over 1,000 families and because of that my mum took us to a restaurant.

The next month we had raised £10,000 but saved £5,000 for the school.

(Writer) At the home of the Smith’s, Charlotte is making research on a team training programme that she thought of suggesting to her boss. Suddenly she could hear a troubled knock on the door. “Kirk, is everything okay?” Charlotte beseeched. “I wish I can say it is but it’s not, can we talk?” Kirk required. “Of course, come in” Kirk walked in and Mrs Smith followed him. “Please have a seat” Kirk pleaded and Charlotte obeyed. “Charlotte, everything in my world has not been perfect” Mr Smith made a statement. “I know” Charlotte intently listened. “No you think you know but you don’t. My happiness has been inconsistent and at first I didn’t know why. But then when I would see you or even just think of contacting you, for a month after I would be over the moon. Then when I realise I haven’t seen you for a while I become sad. I’m putting my heart through strain because it beats quicker than a cheetah when I see you ever since Sarah thought we were getting back together, and slows down when I don’t. I want to make it stop and only you can help me. Charlotte I still love you and I really ask you that we give ourselves another chance of discovering love. Please take me back in your life and give me the chance to make you fall in love with me again” Kirk suggested. “Yes Kirk I will” Charlotte smiled and hugged him as Sarah came into the living room. “Can I take you out this evening?” Kirk wished. “Only if Sarah doesn’t have plans” Charlotte turned to her daughter. “No mum, I don’t. You two enjoy yourself” Sarah gave her blessing. “Thank you honey. Will you give me half an hour to change, Kirk?” Charlotte inquired. “You are too beautiful to need 30 minutes, only 15” Kirk allowed. “Okay” the mother smiled and left the living room.

(Me) I’m so happy because, my mum and dad are going out. The only thing I’m sad about is I didn’t get to hear the speech. I’m sure it was wonderful. I’m going to check on my mum.

17 minutes after-My dad just drove off and I’m ecstatic. It’s making me think of my boyfriend. I was about to start thinking of what to cook but someone is knocking. “Babe, it’s you I was just thinking about you” I hugged my boyfriend and led him inside to the living room. “Candy smiles, I have seriously been missing you and I’m scared” Sam exposed. “I’ve missed you too. What are you scared of?” I wondered. “We haven’t spent time together for so long” Sam stressed. “I know, it’s been because of the club activities but when I see you, you were always happy and not ignoring me” I pointed out. “There’s no reason to. You have made amazing things happen and I’m really proud. I’m scared because it will be our 9 month anniversary soon and because we haven’t gone out I’m thinking our connection is being lost” my boyfriend made me aware. “No babe, not at all. That is absolutely not the case. I am very crazy about you and you make me happy beyond gestures. But I do agree we need to spend more time together, and that will start tomorrow, ok sweetness?” I held his hand. “Okay butterfly” he smiled. “Can we chill for a bit before I start to cook?” I asked and he nodded.

So we spent a couple of hours together. In between Tom came from his club. Sam left before I started to cook.

6 weeks successive to that wonderful day, I understood Sam’s cuteness on another level. It really made me sure we were going to be together forever. We have gone out on many beautiful dates and I had started to develop deeper feelings for him. He told me on several occasions that it was mutual so we decided on where we could go to keep the connection going.

August 20th

I got home at 5pm and I met my dad in the living room. “Dad what are you doing here?” I asked and saw him hide something. “Hello to you too, my darling” My dad said. “I think I need to rather say hello to what is hiding behind your back” I caught him. “There’s nothing behind my back” he fibbed. “Dad, what are you hiding?” I asked. “Okay, it’s an engagement ring, if I propose to your mum would she say yes?” my dad asked me. “Probably, are you going to ask her?” I asked back. “I’m thinking of it” he answered. “You have only been going out for a month, she might think it’s a bit early but when its spontaneous it’s more exciting” I alleged. “Are you sure you don’t mean frightening?” He worried. “No exciting, go for it dad, propose to her” I advised. “Thanks” my dad said. “Also until you’re ready, don’t let her see it” I said. “Noted” he replied.

3 weeks later

The year is flying by. It is a special day very, very soon. Anyway, at the moment we are having our glitter girl meeting. Joy is telling us about the new plan of action for moving forward and I see that Stephanie has her hand up. “J, Stephanie has a question” I pulled her attention to. “Sorry ladies this is a quick announcement to remind you that it will be Robin’s birthday tomorrow and in the evening we are having a party for her. This is especially for you Sarah because you haven’t asked about it much. It will start at 6 and we’re all dressing up” Stephanie added. “I will send you the address now Sarah okay?” Robin required. “No don’t send it” I said. “Oh have you been there before?” Robin asked. “No but I can’t come” I reasoned. “Why can’t you? It’s my birthday” Robin invoked. “I know but I can’t because it’s mine and Sam’s anniversary so we’re going out” I revealed. “You don’t have to do it that day” Robin assumed. “We do because it’s 9 months after we started dating” I responded. “Fine you can do it after school and come for 7” Robin adjusted to. “Sorry I just can’t” I repeated. “Okay then” she sat down. “Ok let’s get back to our plans” Joy redirected us and I felt a bit bad.

On our way home I told Sam what happened in the meeting. He seemed to think I was trying to postpone our plans but I reassured him. When my friends dropped me at my front door, I hugged Sam and he kissed my cheeks. “See you tomorrow for our anniversary my dream girl” he said. “Bye girls, love ya” I told them. “Love ya too” they said and went home.

My anniversary (September 22nd)

I woke up to a beautiful and endearing anniversary greeting from him. My mum wished me a happy anniversary before I left for school. When I got to school, Joy sang to me “happy anniversary, happy anniversary, happy anniversary, happy anniversary, happy anniversary, happy anniversary, happy anniversary”. “Happy Anniversary, glitterbug” Sam approached me and said. Then I looked at him, “what? Can’t I say it more than once? Let’s try again, happy anniversary” Sam stated. “Happy anniversary” I kissed him. The two glitter girls in my class wished me a happy anniversary and Jay also started singing to me when Mr Henry said “girls, girls none of that here”. “It’s Sam and Sarah’s anniversary” Joy told Mr Henry. “You can do it at your break time, so concentrate on your work please” Mr Henry commanded fairly.

Sam gave his present to me which was a bracelet and matching earrings with a card. Sam’s parents gave me a gorgeous dress and a lovely smelling perfume. “Can we please go to your house and thank them?” I requested, “sure beauty bun” Sam accepted. Joy kept on telling people about it being my anniversary with Sam and I got luxuries.

At 4:40pm Sam inserted his key into the hole and opened the door. “Is this Sarah? I’m glad to finally meet you” Mrs Jones said to me. “Hello Mrs Jones. I came here to thank you for the lovely present” I emphasized my appreciation. “I’m sure my son got you something even better” Mrs Jones supposed. “I like them all. Thank you so much. Can you please thank Mr Jones as well?” I asked. “I will do that when he returns” Sam’s mother assured me. “Well I hope to see you again soon. I have to leave and get ready for our date” I said and kissed Sam. “Take care dear” she said. “When will you pick me up?” I inquired. “6:30pm” he wanted me to know. “Okay bye” I left to go home.

In the evening Sam and I rekindled our feelings for each other in everything we did. We made sure we never took our eyes off each other. Sam made me feel beautiful and we enjoyed everything about being each other’s company. Sam took me home, knowing that it would end the day quickly and we would see each other again.

The next day I gave a present and card to Robin and she gave me a hug. We shared jokes about what happened at her party.

At lunchtime, we didn’t have our club meeting but we just hung out as we only have it on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

2 months later

“So dad are you going to propose to mum or what?” I implored. “Propose to me? Kirk were you going to propose to me?” My mum asked. “No, don’t mind her (clears throat) Charlotte, could I please move back into your life and stay here with you and the kids in the spare room?” My dad required. “Yes, Kirk, yes” my mum answered and he kissed her cheek.

The next day, my dad collected his stuff from his apartment and moved them into the spare room. Then he went with my mum to meet with his friend to sell the apartment to him. From there they will go to the housing office to put on record that he lives with us, which will soon change to him being married to my mum. All this news is exciting and breath-taking to say the least.

Chapter 6

December. Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la la la la la. My birthday is coming up on 22nd wohoo!! Christmas and my 1 year anniversary with Sam, yes.

Sorry I have to add another yes because my boyfriend is calling me, “hi”. “Hi twinkles, you excited for our 1 year anniversary, I know I am” Sam told me. “Well, you’re supposed to be. It will be a special day, one year after we started dating” I told him. “I know and you’re still with me. I’m ecstatic, it’s unbelievably fantastic” Sam voiced out. “Yeah and you’re still with me too, I’m ecstatic and overjoyed” I distinguished my feelings differently. “Wait, no, let me try again. I’m very, very ecstatic and thrilled that you are still with me” Sam wanted the limelight. “Okay then” I accepted. “I have to go“ he avowed. “Ok then you have to hang up” I communicated to him. “You have to hang up” Sam put on me. “No you hang up on 3. 1, 2, 3” we both kept on enforcing. I put my phone on mute to check if he was still there then hung up. I went on my laptop because I missed roaming about on the gg website.

(Writer) Upstairs “what are you doing Kirk?” Mrs Smith questioned. “Making reservations for Chateau La Mont, because I’m planning a party for Sarah” Mr Smith explained in a hushed tone. “Aww that’s nice (gasps) Kirk it’s £300 for 8 people” the soon-to-be birthday guest‘s mother examined. “I want Sarah to have a good birthday so even if that means working over-time so be it” Mr Smith quoted. He picked up his phone and called his boss, “hi Ian how many extra shifts would I need to do to get extra pay?” Kirk questioned. “If you were to work for 2 weeks to 10 pm. What is it for?” Ian entreated. “My daughter’s birthday at Chateau La Mont” he informed his boss. “Oh that’s nice, okay what I’ll do is let you work till 8pm and all day Saturday and Sunday evening next week and I will pay you £500” Ian sorted. “Thanks boss” Kirk remarked. “Will you do that?” Ian wanted to feel sure. “Yes Ian and you can come if you like” the father of Charlotte’s children allowed. “Thanks, but no thanks. I’m happy so long as you commit to that week and you can come to the office on the Monday after” the boss revealed. “Thanks boss, enjoy your evening” Kirk got off the phone. “Charlotte, I need to work next week till 8pm and Sunday in the evening and Ian will give me £500 so if we can gather a bit more money then we can pay for the restaurant and party” he worked out. “But we’re not paying for a building remember we’re having it at Church” Mrs Smith reminded Mr Smith. “I know but for the decorations and stuff” Mr Smith said.

The 14th of December is the Friday when all the students and teachers in Summerfield Secondary School will vacate for the Christmas holidays. They will arrive back in the new year on the 2nd of January, lucky (!) Think about it I finish on the 19th and return on the 3rd of January, talk about short holiday. The time in Summerfield was 6:44pm. “Hey, Krista are you free on the 22nd?” Mrs Smith wanted to know. “Yeah why?” Krista kept the focus on Mrs Smith’s reason for calling. “Well Sarah’s 15th birthday is on the same day as her 1 year anniversary with her Sam” Sarah’s mother responded. “Wow big occasion” Krista replied. “Exactly so I wish you could add the art on the cakes I will make” Krista was beseeched. “Anything for you, my lady. However, you haven’t thought about how you will make the cakes with Sarah in the house” a point was made that Charlotte didn’t need to forget. “That’s also something you can help me with, could I make them at your house?” Charlotte solicited more support. “Sure” Krista demonstrated co-operation.

At 8pm it was dinner time for the Smith family. (Me) “I’m full” Tom claimed. Tom had barely eaten half of his food. “Wait Tom, let me see. Tom eat some more” mum rightly demanded. “I don’t want to” Tom claimed. “Tom, listen to your mother” my dad ordered my stubborn brother. ”Then, I’m going to eat in the kitchen” Tom asserted. “Tom, what’s the matter?” My mum queried. “I don’t want to talk about it” Tom answered. “Tom, we’re listening” mum urged him. “Every time since Sarah’s anniversary you have only been focusing your attention on Sarah and ignoring me. It’s not only your motherly duty to think about Sarah but me as well” Tom explained. “Ooo I think the jealousy bug has bitten you. Tommie, I love you and your sister equally and even if I can’t always give you attention, I will always love you” mum left him and went upstairs.

(Writer) Half an hour after Tom was coming downstairs and Sarah was going upstairs. “Move Sarah move” Sarah stayed in Tom’s way. Tom then tried to move through his sister’s legs and hit his head. Tom started to cry and went back to his room. Sarah went to her room then Mrs Smith went to find out what had happened. “What’s wrong now?” Mrs Smith entreated. “Sarah wouldn’t let me go downstairs and when I went down to go, I bumped my head” Tom put across.

Charlotte treated Tom’s head and got him to stop crying 10 minutes after. “Can you give this to Sarah?” Tom required. Charlotte gazed at the present “you just rest Tommie” Tom’s mother evacuated his room.

(Me) “Hey mum” I greeted her. “You made Tom hit his head” my mum accused me. “I didn’t make Tom hit his head” I declined my mum’s accusation. “Why did you not give him way?” My mum asked. “I was just having fun with him” I defended myself. “You need to think about how your actions affect your brother. Now he has a big sore on his head before he got the chance to do something unexpected” My mum made me ponder. “What’s that?” I was curious. “Here, your brother got this for you. I hope you will think long and hard of how you will apologise to him” my mum left the present on my bed and I could feel myself crumble in guilt.

In the next half an hour I pushed myself to go and beg for Tom’s forgiveness and decide not to react if he does anything to me. “Tom it has taken me a lot of guts to come here and say something I never imagined I will say. I am sorry, I didn’t mean for you to get hurt, I was just playing with you. Next time I will joke when it’s time to joke. Thank you for the gift. Do you forgive me?” I hoped and I saw a gesture to indicate he was nodding. “Thank you, goodnight” I wished and left. I reported to Joy what I had to say when she called me and she was worse than unsupportive. “Aw poor you, don’t worry” Joy teased me. “Shut up” I said. We talked till that event became a vague memory.

December 8th

My birthday is exactly two weeks away. You may think I am wishing for my birthday and Christmas to come but I’m not. You may even think that this is only what children do, well you would be half right I suppose. I am a child of Charlotte and Kirk Smith and a child of God. I decided that I’ll put my present from Tom on the mantelpiece where the Christmas tree will stand.

(Writer) In a few weeks, Kirk Anderson Smith will propose to Charlotte Kim Smith during his daughter’s birthday celebrations which Sarah won’t see as stealing her thunder. You know she wants this more than anything.

(Me) I’m thinking of being with Sam on that special day, being so close aaaah (smiles). 2:01pm.. 2:02pm.. 2:07pm.. 2:15pm.. 2:25pm lunchtime. I just remembered I have homework, just a few days before end of school, so cruel. That’s probably why, they want us to work the hardest before we break for Christmas. They hope to achieve their aim to make students retain what was taught for the whole term. Personally I think they are wasting their time. I hope it’s not a long piece of work.

It’s now 2:45pm and I’m making a start on my homework.

3:00pm still working on it.

3:19pm still working on it.

3:30pm still working (sighs)

3:40pm finally finished (exhale) thought it would never end. I just called Joy to talk. Can you believe that when I had finished my work Joy had started hers. Coincidence? I think not. I asked her if I can speak to Jay and she was also busy. So I messaged Sam but I didn’t get an immediate reply so I guessed he was busy too. I decided to go on to Flashform and finally captured someone I can talk to who wasn’t doing homework, Claire. However, she told me she was going offline but would call me so I logged off too. My phone rang and I picked the call, “Claire, finally someone I can chat with, what are you up to?” I asked. “Just about to watch TV” Claire answered. “So you excited for Christmas break?” I inquired. “Is there anyone who isn’t?” Claire posed. “What you thinking of doing?” I responded. “I want to go on holiday but don’t know about my parents (pause) sorry Sarah I have to go, see you in school” Claire hung up briskly.

At 4:35pm Joy called me, “hey girl, just finished my homework” she let me know. “From next term can we decide to do our homework the same time because I’ve been so bored” I complained. “Where’s your boo?” Joy requested. “He’s busy” I declared frankly. “Aww yeah that is a good idea, we’ll start from next term. I can’t believe it is almost the end of the year” Joy brought to my attention. “I know, time flies” I stated. “Yeah, can I tell Jay what’s happening between your mum and dad now?” Joy changed the topic. “I’m not really sure, can I trust Jay to keep it to herself?” I wondered. “Yeah. If she even slips out one word I will cello tape her mouth and let her write down what she wants to say” Joy promised. “If you say that Jay is 100% trustworthy then go on” I permitted her. “Yes!” Joy exclaimed. “Ow, Joy!” I yelled. “Sorry” Joy added. “Jay!” Joy summoned her cousin. “What’s up?” I heard. “I’ve got something good to tell you, but you have to guarantee you will keep it to yourself” Joy conditioned. “I do” Jay promised. “Well Sarah’s mum and dad were separated and then Mr Smith confessed that he wanted him and Mrs Smith to get back together. So they started to go out. Now, he’s back in Sarah’s house” Joy reported. “So are they getting remarried?” Jay wanted to investigate. “The best person to ask is Sarah, so go on” Joy prompted her. “Sarah, are they getting remarried?” Jay repeated. “Maybe” I answered. “That is exciting!” Jay remarked. “Not as exciting as if I said yes” I interpreted. “Well it’s still good news” Jay commented. “I got my hopes up before and I can’t do it again” I learnt my lesson. “Fair enough, let’s see. Anyway see you Sarah” Jay left the conversation. We continued to talk for a while.

5:15pm tomorrow will be Sunday, I bet you are wondering if we still go to Church. The answer is yes.

The next day I ate cocoa pops at 8am, then I rang Sam to talk about our countdown to our special day. After, I messaged Joy and waited for us to leave.

We arrived some time after quarter to 9am. “Tina! Tina! Tina!” I bellowed. “Mrs Halm where is Tina? I made an appeal. “She travelled to Spain” Mrs Halm relieved me of worry. “Why?” I asked. “You know she wants to become a doctor, there is this training course there for a couple of months” Mrs Halm informed me and left to the hall.

“Hi Sarah” Tina greeted me. “Tina I thought you left” I hugged her. “I thought I told you I was going to Spain but I can’t leave without saying bye to you” Tina considered me. “Aww tweety I will miss you, though I wish I would have known sooner” I slipped in. “I know but I will miss you guys, even you and I don’t know your name” Tina pointed to Jay. “This is Jay, Joy’s cousin” I introduced the girls. “It’s too bad I only got to meet her now” Tina alleged. “I hear you’re going for a couple months straight” I shared what I knew. “Yeah. Well I hate to say this but I must go. I will call you as soon as I get there” Tina hugged us. “I’ll be waiting for your call. Have a safe journey” I wished Tina. “Oh yeah and I wish you a merry birthday and Christmas” Tina passed on to me a pleasant thought, handed me a gift and went for her taxi. The gift had a tag on it which displayed ‘Don’t open till your b-day or Christmas xx Tina.

I took over Victory Care for Tina, Joy and Jay did as much as they could to help.

(Writer) “The tea table looks magnificent, I wonder who is responsible for this” Sarah’s mother wondered. The three friends came with more plates and napkins. “Girls, you are so thoughtful, taking over while Tina’s away” Sarah’s mother showed regard for their act of love for Tina.

(Me) “The tea was delicious girls” my mother complimented us. Uncle Samuel paced up to me, asked me how I was doing then was about to give me a gift when auntie Susie interrupted. “David, I said just before Christmas, now put it away” auntie Susie demanded. As I saw the card on top of the gift, it made me remember that I need to give out Christmas cards. “Mum, I need Christmas cards for my friends and people at school please” I revealed my intention. “Ok Kimmy” my mum agreed.

My mother stopped at Sainsbury’s to get the cards and I wrote them out as soon as I got home. Once I had finished I went to put them in my bag. For lunch we had a Ghanaian dish called Jollof Rice, which my mum first tasted and learnt from our Pastor James. We all thought it was scrumptious and I would even suggest that it was good enough to lick the plate, but obviously I didn’t.

For dinner we had Chinese noodles, rice and prawn crackers. My mum is a talented chef and I am off to bed with a thankful stomach. Goodnight.

(Writer) Sarah had finished handing out her cards by Tuesday during the lunch hour, because she forgot to do it on Monday. But she saved the distribution of the special ones for the end of that day.

(Me) It’s Tuesday 11th December, only 30 days until Christmas break, I mean 3 days but let’s face it, it will feel like 30. Then 8 days till my b-day. On top of that my 1 year anniversary and followed by Christmas, whoo!!

I walked home with my boyfriend, best friend and friend. When we got to my house, my mother called Joy and I can’t guess why.

(Writer) “hi Joy, I wanted to let you know we are” Mrs Smith was interrupted, “no don’t tell her!” Mr Smith shouted. “Why not?” Mrs Smith asked. “She is her best friend and she tells her everything, so Sarah will know” Mr Smith alleged. “We have to tell her because she will find out eventually. I’d rather tell her now than for her to find out later and for it to be very awkward” Sarah’s mum alleged. “No, don’t!” Sarah’s dad exclaimed. “We are planning a surprise party for Sarah at Church and I wish to know if you can keep it a secret from Sarah” Sarah’s mum wondered. “Yeah without a doubt, if I can keep the secret about you then I can keep a secret about Sarah” Joy confided in herself “(weakly) ok. I’ll take that as a yes” Sarah’s mum answered. Kirk doubted Joy for the reason of not really knowing anything about Joy. He didn’t want to trust anyone he didn’t know.

5 minutes later, “Joy, what happened upstairs?” Sarah wanted to know. “Oh nothing your mum just wanted to say hi” Joy fed her a possible reason, “ok” Sarah stretched. “Yeah. Ok we’re off and we will see you tomorrow” Joy notified her.

For our afternoon tea, we had some more of the delicious Jollof Rice.

(Writer) I cannot wait to tell you about Sarah’s special day. I know you’re thinking which one. Good night.

3 days later..

(Me) Good morning to you. It’s Friday by the way. Therefore it’s 8 days till my 1 year anniversary, oh yeah! Today I go on my Christmas break.

08:40am “Joy, I don’t think what you told me my mum said is what happened. So what did happen?” I demanded the truth. ‘No honestly, that’s what she said” Joy covered up the surprise.

09:05am We have just been told that we will not close at the normal time, we will close at 12pm. I cannot wait.

Chapter 7

(Writer) One hour after Sarah left the house, Sarah’s mother went to her friend, Krista’s house to do the cakes and refreshments.

(Me) “Hi glitter bug, we have not spoken for a long time about our day, just 8 days left” said Sam. “Yes sugar-nut” I recognised. “Also we have just 2 subjects then we get to go home for 3 weeks and we can decide if we want to come back” Claire counted. “I wished we had made cards in the club” I claimed. “It’s okay, you gave yours anyway” Joy said.

(Writer) The students attended an assembly for the head-teacher to tell us about today.

(Me) “All years rise for the head” the deputy head commanded. We stood up. “Thank you, please sit down” we sat down.

When assembly was over and we were back in our room, Mr Henry talked to us “alright there is a little Christmas surprise for each one of you on your desks. You are not to open it till Christmas because it’s a Christmas present. But on your holiday I’ll have no control over you. Thus once you’ve left the school premises, you may do as you wish” Mr Henry finished. We all took 2 celebrations chocolates and ate them.

(Writer) As Sarah and the gang believed in Christ, they weren’t going to open their gifts till Christmas day. Sarah had a little feel of the present. “What do you think it is?” Sarah whispered to Joy. She couldn’t answer because we had to sing Christmas carols.

I hugged all the glitter girls. 5,4,3,2,1 end of school term!!! We made a chain and smiled but I became engrossed with unveiling Joy’s, hopefully, only secret from me. “Joy, please tell me why my mum called you upstairs” I pleaded. “I’ve told you, it was just because she wanted to say hi” Joy emphasized. ”Jay, Sam one of you please help me out here” I begged. “We don’t know anything about it” they responded.

(Writer) When Sarah got home, her and Tom were the only ones at home until some minutes to 6, when Mr Smith sat on the sofa. He looked at his engagement ring for you know who in a dark blue velvet box. “Hey dad what you got there?” Sarah enquired. “Huh, oh, nothing“ Mr Smith claimed and Sarah smiled wide. “Ok, I’m getting ready to ask your mum to marry me soon but not one word to your mum” Sarah’s dad told her not to do. “Ok but can you tell me what mum was saying to Joy” I asked to know. “I can’t tell you” Mr Smith released. “Dad” Sarah claimed. “I’m serious, I can’t tell you. Your mum has to” Tom’s dad claimed .

After Sarah stopped her conversation with her father her mum returned. “Hi, did you do it?” Mr Smith used in code language as Sarah was in the room. “Yeah, I shall go and collect it next week” Mrs Smith continued to use code language.

Four days passed, when Sarah phoned Sam to count down the hours left till their anniversary, her birthday and Christmas. Then Joy phoned Sarah to ask if she had done her countdown with Sam and highlighted the length of time to her best friend’s birthday. “So you still won’t tell me?” Sarah enquired. “There is nothing to say” Joy started hating torturing her best friend. In herself, she thought it would be a breeze to build up Sarah’s excitement. But she struggled with guilt at times, however she knew in the long run she would be rewarded through seeing her best friend’s face light up. So she kept on pushing and fighting. Jay and Sam began to feel their curiosity grow and they queried her at different points. Joy still kept her lips sealed, she was trustworthy but Kirk didn’t want to believe.

Between 7 and 8pm, Kirk decided to call the restaurant Chateau La Mont. “Yes, hello I was just wondering if there can be a sing along and a pianist” Mr Smith wondered. “Mr Smith, there is something I need to tell you. We can no longer hold your daughter’s birthday, simply because we have had to give away your table and there is no more space” the restaurant owner informed Mr Smith. “That’s impossible because I booked a week ago so you had enough notice” Mr Smith stated. “That may be so but all the other parties have offered more money to us” the restaurant owner explained. “Yes but the point is I booked first” Sarah’s dad said. “I’m sorry but there is no place for you anymore” the restaurant owner let him down easy. “I will still come, you will see” Mr Smith conveyed. “Come, if you will, see how stupid your party will look, with the birthday girl eating and standing up” Mr Smith was pushed to slam the phone down. “Kirk what’s the matter?” Mrs Smith asked. Kirk Smith closed the door, “the restaurant just told me they are not going to host Sarah’s birthday dinner because the people who booked after are offering more money” the father answered. “Aww I’m terribly sorry” Sarah’s mum understood and sympathised. That was when an idea popped into Mrs Smith’s head. She thought she could surprise both her children’s dad and Sarah.

9pm- “Yes, hello I would like to make a reservation for 14 people on the 23rd” Charlotte Smith requested. “That’s fine as long as you will pay £25 for each person” the soon to be birthday girl’s mother had to confirm. “Yes I will” Charlotte Smith accepted, “then we can fit you in for 7:40pm” the more easy-going restaurant manager reserved a space. “Thank you very much” Charlotte Smith thanked him. “If you could please give us your email to send the reservation” Charlotte was told. “Ok it is charlotte haynes68@easy jet.org.uk” the mother provided. “Ok that is Sunday 23nd for 14 people at 7:40pm. Thank you and have a good evening” the line was cut. “They were very co-operative” Mrs Smith claimed out loud.

Friday 21st December 2007

(Me) Only hours till my birthday and anniversary. Christmas (Jesus ‘birthday) will make its grand appearance in 4 days. My mother has gone out, my father is upstairs and my brother is watching TV.

(Writer) I am certain you remember earlier when Mrs Smith arranged to leave the cake and refreshments at her friend’s house. What was left to do was the lettering on the cake.

At Krista’s house “Ok, so I have purple and pink, which one?” Asked Krista. “Purple! No pink! No purple!” soon to be birthday girl’s mother kept on changing. “Call me when you have made up your mind” said Krista. “I definitely want pink, I mean purple” Charlotte Smith wasn’t landing on a decision. “Going to make a cup of tea” Krista notified her “no wait, pink, I want pink” Mrs Smith decided. “Are you sure or?” Krista wanted an answer. “Pink no purple. I’m joking pink is my final answer” Mrs Smith made a stable decision. Krista got the cake out, laid it on the table and opened the tube and looked at her friend for full confirmation. Charlotte smiled with ease indicating she could go on. Krista started to write on the cake but then stopped. “Krista, what’s wrong?” Mrs Smith required. “It just doesn’t look good” Krista critiqued. “You’ve only just started” Sarah’s mum pointed out. “I think I can make it look better with brown and yellow writing tubes and I will cover it up” Krista worked out.

Krista’s friend zipped her coat and waited for her friend. Krista was looking for the car keys. “Oh look here, brown and yellow writing tubes” Krista found the “goldmine”.

The cake was decorated with yellow writing on the icing with a slim brown border around the writing. It looked perfect.

After all the cake writing was finished, Mrs Smith telephoned all the aunties from the Church to tell them about Sarah’s day. She was more jolly than surprised that they all volunteered to help.

Sarah’s mum had got a call from Sarah’s best friend, “hi, Mrs Smith could I bring someone to the party?” Joy asked. “Yes that would be lovely” Mrs Smith replied. Joy was going to bring her father’s oldest friend’s son Max. “Mrs Smith, I have a confession. I haven’t told Sarah or anything but I made it sound as if it was easy for me to hide it” Joy divulged. “Honey, I understand but you have done so well to keep it. Remember, it’s tomorrow so your job is almost done” Charlotte encouraged Joy. “Thank you Mrs Smith, I will see you tomorrow” Joy avowed. “Send my love to your mum please” Charlotte pleaded, “will do, bye” Joy hung up. “What time did you give to the ladies to set up the place?” Krista questioned. “10am-12pm” Charlotte told her good friend. “You see, I can understand that but not that you think the party will finish at 4. I think you need to extend it because it’s likely to over run” Krista counselled her pal. “Ok I will just shuffle the time on the invite to 6pm” Charlotte took the advice.

At Sarah’s house: “Oh I need to put up the Christmas tree” Kirk had reminded himself. (Me) When my dad finished decorating the tree, I put my presents underneath. I loved the fact that I have dominated one side. Now don’t go thinking I’m selfish. I bought Tom an Arsenal t-shirt because it is his favourite team. Also I bought my mum and dad a wall clock.

(Writer) Charlotte Smith called Kirk Smith to ask a question about the party. She also told him that she’ll be coming to get a few of her clothes as she’ll be staying over at Krista’s place so he should ensure Sarah would not find out.

Sarah was in her room, pretending she’s in front of her Church saying what has made her happy since joining the Church. Kirk overheard his daughter, knocked and entered her room. “That’s good honey, you should keep on practicing, you may need it one day” Sarah’s dad encouraged her.

Back at Krista’s house, Krista and Charlotte were going to buy decorations. Afterwards, they will drop by Charlotte’s house.

Joy called Miss Smith and she took the call, “hi Sarah, you excited about your anniversary tomorrow?” Joy wanted to know. “Yeah, but what about my birthday?” Sarah asked. “Yes that too” Joy added. “What will we do?” Joy was implored. “Whatever you want, it’s your birthday sunshine. So you think about it and let me know. See you tomorrow, love you” Joy remarked. “Love you too” Sarah inserted before ending the call. Then Sam called Sarah, “hi cuddle boo, happy almost anniversary” Sam said. “Hi honey-cream, you will see me tomorrow so what’s the point?” I posed. We continued to talk.

Later on Mr Smith went to the ironing room after he opened the door for his children’s mum. He started ironing a really nice dress for Sarah to wear tomorrow. “Oh yes, Kirk, Sarah will wear the dress that she wore for the glitter girl party. It is a purple dress” Charlotte alleged. “I bought her a dress that she could wear” Kirk answered back. “Oh, sorry Kirk you can give it to her tomorrow” Mrs Smith changed the plan. “I wanted it for her birthday but I will iron the dress, if it will make you happy” Kirk told Charlotte. “Aww Kirk that’s very sweet” Charlotte told Kirk.

When Mrs Smith left and her daughter came down, he went up to leave it in her room.

5 minutes after, Tom asked his dad to cook dinner on his sister’s behalf.

To Krista’s house. The one who was staying with Krista for the night called all the aunties to tell them of the party extension. Krista had gotten Sarah a present for her birthday and for her anniversary. It was 4 pairs of silver and gold earrings. Although she thought silver suited Sarah better, she wanted Sarah to have a variety.

Chapter 8

Saturday 22nd December

(Me) It’s my birthday! Uh huh oh yeah. 15 years ago I was born. Soon it will be the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. I know you thought I was just going to focus on my birthday and anniversary.

My dad had woken up to use the bathroom so I got up and wished him good morning. “Good morning dad” I said. “Good morning pearl how are you doing?” My dad enquired. “I’m good, don’t you need to say anything considering what day it is?” I asked my dad. “Saturday? Ok happy Saturday” my dad poked fun at me. “Dad” I quoted. “I’m just kidding sweetheart, happy birthday and happy anniversary” my dad exhaled and I giggled.

7:15am I rushed to open my presents and when I had got there, I didn’t see them. I went to my dad to investigate, “dad where are my presents?” I asked. “Sorry sweetheart, got to sort out a crisis” the father attempted to stall.

(Writer) Mr Smith had hidden Sarah’s presents for Mrs Smith to take them to Church for present time.

When Sarah went upstairs Kirk called Charlotte to say the coast was clear. Therefore Charlotte came and collected all of Sarah’s gifts.

Charlotte and Krista went out shopping for what they weren’t able to buy on their last shopping trip. By the time they had finished it was 9:15am, so they headed for the Church. They had to wait for a while for the aunties to start arriving.

At 10:40am they started decorating the hall.

Few minutes to 12 the rest of the aunties started arriving. The birthday girl’s dad was alerted by the birthday girl’s mum to bring the birthday girl and Tom in an hour. (Me) I heard my dad say get dressed so I got ready.

Half an hour later my dad asked, if I was dressed after a direction given to me to the dress I wore for the gg launch party. Up until this point I wasn’t having a special day, so this made me get excited. We came into the car and I allowed my dad to start the car before I grilled him. “Dad, where is the first place we’re going to take pictures?” “I don’t know what you’re talking about” he said. “Pictures for my birthday, that’s why I’m wearing this dress and Tom is wearing a tuxedo right?” I presumed.

20 minutes later, “why are we at Church and where are my presents dad?” I repeated for the second time since we moved. “Come on Tom, let’s go Sarah” my dad told me. Then he took his phone out and I heard him say ”we’ll be there in 2 minutes” to someone and I was confused.

(Writer) Okay “Sarah will be here in 2 minutes so everyone hide” Mrs Smith let them know.

“What’s going on dad?” Tom asked. “We’re having a surprise party for Sarah” Mr Smith answered. “Sarah come on” Sarah went inside. Mr Smith pretended to need help opening the door. “Sarah the door seems jammed can you try for me please?” Kirk required and Sarah pulled the handle and it opened, “dad it’s not jammed” Sarah uncovered the mystery. “Surprise!!!!” The Church shouted.

(Me) I couldn’t believe my eyes, the Church did a party for me. “Happy Birthday” Sam said to me and he led me to a table, how sweet is he? Music started to play and when I was seated everyone sat down and my dad spoke. “Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for coming here for the reason we’re all aware of. Today is my beautiful daughter Sarah’s 15th birthday. You are so important to me cherub and everyone here. We are going to celebrate with you. To start the festivities let us call on Pastor James to commit the party in God’s hands” Kirk called on Pastor James. They all clapped and Pastor James stood in the middle. “Let us pray. Father Lord we bless you for this day. You have joined us to yourself and together this afternoon. You give us our meaning of life and the reason for living, to celebrate your goodness. Bless us as we celebrate our daughter, friend and sister and sanctify the food we will eat. May your name be praised in Jesus’ name amen” Pastor prayed. “Amen” everyone agreed. “DJ let’s have some music and may the celebrating begin” my dad said. Loads of aunties came around the tables with drinks. “Sarah, I’ll be right back” Sam told me. “Happy birthday love” Joy said and hugged me. “It took you long enough, no message too” I jokily complained. “I know but had to get things ready” Joy mentioned. “Hmmm” I replied. “Happy birthday girl” Jay wished and hugged me. “Thank you ladies” I responded.

After about 10 minutes the music was lowered and my dad held the microphone. “Ladies and gentlemen, as it is soon Christmas day, we are going to sing some carols. If you sing beautifully I will let you eat all the delicious food so everyone stand please” my dad instructed.

15 minutes later, we all sat down laughing. “Now, we can stop our hunger. We will start with the High Table and then work clockwise. Eat as much as you like and enjoy the food” my dad alerted us. Everyone who was sitting with me went to the serving table and there was that delicious jollof rice. I just started nodding like a headless chicken in front of it. The lady at that cooker gave me more of it and a little of noodles and wings.

I went to my table, reached for my favourite drink then Sam took it and opened it. Joy gave him a cup, he poured it and put it by my food. They basically kept on doing things for me and checking if I wanted anything. Then I realised maybe I spoke too soon about not having a special day.

(Writer) 40 minutes later, the father of the guest of honour was trying to switch on the microphone and when it started working the music became quieter. “Forgive me for the intrusion but are you all enjoying the food?” Kirk asked the Church. “Yes!!!” The Church joyfully answered. “We will soon be opening the dance floor. When we do, we want you to dance your heart out. But you have one last chance to get some food” Kirk let everyone know. Sam tapped his girlfriend’s hand, “you look really cute and gorgeous, are you enjoying your special day?” Sam asked Sarah. “Yes my honey cream, it’s just about perfect” Sarah expressed while smiling.

1:35pm “Okay now the dance floor is open. Feel free to continue in your joy for Sarah. She’s judging who are the best dancers so come on and let more than your dress impress” some shared laughter including Sam and I. “Would you dance with me Sarah?” Sam implored and I stood up. Now we’re dancing but not close together. “Let’s all come to the dance floor and dance. Show Sarah that you’re happy to be with her. If you are not happy, let me see and I will dance with you” my dad gave an incentive and the DJ changed the music. I was really enjoying myself but I wasn’t really seeing people come.

2:00pm “Ok since, many are relieving their bodies after filling them, we shall leave it there. But the people who came and danced, you will receive something from me” my dad alleged. The music stuck to making hearts dance and the exuberance in the atmosphere couldn’t be stopped.

2:30pm “Can I have your attention please? If you could please raise your glasses that has just landed on your tables, I would like to make a toast” my dad spoke into the mic. “As you know it is Sarah’s 15th birthday and we are all here to celebrate. Sarah is very important to me and I am glad she is my daughter. She is my kind, hopeful and wonderful princess. May God bless her in everything she does. Amen” my dad wished me. All of the guests clinked their glasses with another and drank.

(Writer) Once 35 minutes decided to slither away Mr Smith took to his role again. “It has come to the time where we cut the cake. Can Sarah and all those who are here especially for Sarah’s birthday come round to cut the cake” Sarah’s dad requested. The friends, family friends and family united around her. “Everyone look at my stunning daughter. Sarah you are going to cut this cake as you begin a new year in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, go” Sarah was supported to cut her cake. They sang happy birthday with all the verses. The birthday girl was given a chance to make her own verse and everyone laughed and cheered. “Camera man” Kirk quoted. “All hands on 3. 1, 2, 3” the camera man prepared them.

(Me) We cut the cake and it looked absolutely delicious. “Would the birthday guest like to make a speech?” Mr Smith invited me to the stage. I, the birthday celebrity walked glamorously to my dad. “Thank you everyone, for using your time to help me celebrate my special day. I am still here, healthy and strong. I want to thank God that I have a fantastic family and fabulous friends. Everyone here is amazing. Thank you all very much” I supposed. I gave the mic to my mum, who stood by me. “That was very sweet Sarah. Well at the table there are some special Christmas refreshments so help yourself” my mum supposed and put the mic down. Every auntie and uncle picked some refreshments and sat back down. Then the serving aunties brought 3 bowls of refreshments to the High Table. I took 2 each of my favourite chocolates, beautifully wrapped in foil with my initials SKS. For those who have forgotten Sarah Kim Smith. When I finished eating my goodies my dad took the mic again.

(Writer) “Well for all those people who have been waiting to eat a tasty birthday cake, is seconds away but first Sarah come up and give everyone a free lesson on how to dance” Sarah went up and the DJ put on a different version for Sarah to dance to. All the while people including Sam, Joy and Jay, took photos and videos. The cake was distributed to all the eager aunties and uncles.

(Me) I lasted 10 minutes on the dance floor before I selected one person from a few tables to dance with. I’m sure everyone managed to get a memory full of videos before that.

Now, bowls of ice cream are being taken around while music once again joined us in celebrating. I had my cake and ice-cream and it was so tasty (!) I told Joy I would gladly enjoy a brain freeze and she agreed with me.

20 minutes from that moment

“Can I have your attention please? It is time for the birthday girl to open her presents as we are nearing the end of this party” my dad claimed. I came to the table where the gifts were laid. I opened my first gift and it was from Sam. I had received a necklace which had a locket and inside was a picture of Sam and I. I immediately hugged him. I was about to open my second gift when uncle David came rushing in with a gift in his hand. So uncle David’s one was the next one I opened. I got a denim Jeans (nice) “thank you uncle” I uttered. The 3rd one was from Krista (my mum’s friend) I got earrings, “that’s all you got me?” I asked. “Sarah!” mum said. “I’m just joking, I love them, thank you Krista” I hugged her. “You’re welcome” she accepted. The other presents I got were a bag and a pair of shoes from my lovely parents, hair accessories from auntie Sally and uncle Samuel. I also got a pencil set with a club book from my cool brother. Joy and Jay got me a cute jacket with a belt but I hugged them separately of course. I didn’t know anyone could feel this loved in the space of 30 minutes. I feel so far over the moon, the glee has begun to bubble in me again.

“Joy, merry Christmas. Jay merry Christmas” I said. “Happy birthday chick and merry Christmas too” the girls caressed me. “Happy anniversary and merry Christmas sparkles” Sam refocused my mind on our special day. He gave me my card and kissed me. I will read it later and share it with you. For now I am going to take one picture with each guest, and more than one with Joy, Jay and my babe.

After that, it was the end of my party. “Joy, thank you for proving Sarah’s dad wrong and not telling Sarah about this party. Kirk, isn’t there something you should be saying to Joy?” My mother asked. “Joy I’m sorry I didn’t trust you, next time I will” my dad apologised to Joy. Now it’s the end of my party and I enjoyed it a lot. Many of the adults left an hour following the end of the party.

I know you know that this day is still all about me for some more hours but I promised I will tell you what Sam wrote in his card:

Dear Sarah, the cutest girlfriend

Happy 15th B’day

You are important and special to me

You have made me happy

There is never a moment when you don’t pass my thoughts

I’m crazy about you

I hope that I will continue to show my skills as a caring boyfriend and exceed your expectations so that we will be together forever and ever

Xxx Sam

I took a bit more of my cake along with another malteser. Sam pretended to hide me and I just about finished munching the malteser in one piece.

Chapter 9

Sunday 23rd December

Today I washed my hair, dried it and combed it for Church. The result was really gorgeous. I called all my friends after Church and responded to some additional birthday texts. I decorated the new club book and put a contents page.

(Writer) Mrs Smith had just got a call from the restaurant. The call was to make sure that the reservation was still needed. Joy, Jay, Mr and Mrs Jones, Mr and Mrs Hope, Sam, Krista and Kirk’s boss had been given the location and address. Kirk was in the habit of holding Charlotte’s engagement ring to propose when he built up the courage.

“Hey dad, we going anywhere today?” Sarah enquired. “Is there somewhere you want to go?” Kirk asked. “No” Sarah replied. “I wish there was somewhere but no” Kirk answered. “Hi sis, what can I do for you?” Charlotte spoke into her phone. “I know, I’m sorry we didn’t tell you, we just wanted to surprise Sarah and we added you to it but we’ll come now, give us 45 minutes” Charlotte responded. “What’s happening mum?” Sarah questioned. “Auntie Lily wants to see us so let’s get something nice to wear” Tom ran upstairs. “Sarah, honey I bought you a dress that you can wear, let me iron it for you” Kirk volunteered. “Okay, I’ll get my make-up on” Sarah left her parents.

25 minutes later “are you dressed Kirk?” Charlotte knocked on Kirk’s door, “just putting in a tie” Kirk notified her. “Kids, you have 5 minutes more so we can go and beat traffic” Charlotte gave a time limit. Sarah was excited to see her auntie as she hadn’t seen her for a long time. Little did she know that she had prearranged that arrangement and conversation with her sister to go to the restaurant and keep her daughter as the glowing birthday princess. How clever and creative is she!

Charlotte had reached the point a little away from her sister’s house and called her. “Hi Lily” Charlotte heard her sister come to the phone...“I’m good we’re at your door now” the mother of two brought up...”Yes I forgot, sorry, let’s reschedule, I’ll call you next week” Charlotte told her sister and hung up. “Kids your aunt said she forgot to tell me that she has to go somewhere, but we can still take some pictures at home” Mrs Smith alleged. “Okay” Sarah replied.

15 minutes from then Charlotte had pulled up at the restaurant and Sarah glanced through the window and saw Joy. “Mum I see Joy in that restaurant, can I say hi to her?” Sarah asked for permission. “Yeah, let’s all go” Charlotte kept going by her plan. Sarah shut the door and walked briskly to the restaurant and bumped into her boyfriend. “Hi gorgeous” Sam greeted Sarah. “Wow handsome babe you look so delicious. What are you doing here?” Sarah inquired. “I saw Joy in there” Sam said. “Me too, let’s say hi and we can drop you at home” she decided. “No, we have to take pictures because you are looking spectacular” Sam complimented his girlfriend. “Aww deal” Sam rested his arm around her waist and they went inside. “Hi J..what’s all this?” Sarah questioned. “Your mum is going to explain” Kirk claimed. “Well dear, remember when Chateau la Mont bailed on you I made a reservation here” Mrs Smith explained. “This is all for me?” Miss Smith required. “Yes Kimmy your birthday dinner. Sit down lovie” Charlotte pulled out a chair for her daughter. “Can I take your orders please?” The waiter requested. “I would like the Fritalianais Combo” Joy’s best friend chose. “That is for 2 people please miss” the waiter stated. “I’ll share with you” Sam offered. The waiter continued to write down orders.

(Me) The food was amazing but can’t comment more because the manager announced that it was my birthday. “Happy late birthday to you, happy late birthday to you, happy late birthday to Sarah..” “my friend” “my girlfriend” “our daughter” “happy late birthday to you” my family, friends and the restaurant sang. What I was seeing wasn’t enough to make me believe this was all really happening. “Here you go mademoiselle Sarah, joyeux l’anniversaire“ the waiter said to me and gave me something. “Merci beaucoup” I politely stated. I opened the box that was given to me and I saw a box of chocolates. My mum paid the bill then “are we ready to go?” My mum enlisted an answer. “Wait, there’s something I need to do” my dad walked to my mum and yes I’m serious, got on one knee. “Charlotte, these few months have been wonderful and I haven’t regretted any bit of it. It’s made me feel we’re a family again. I don’t want us to go back to the past but for us to start making new memories. I promise if you marry me again you won’t regret it. Will you marry me, Charlotte Kim Smith?” My dad proposed. “You can have my hand in marriage again” my mum responded and I grinned big. They kissed on the lips then everyone got up and pushed their seats in. “What your dad said was so romantic” Joy told me. I said bye to everyone individually after we took some pictures. Then we all went home.

(Writer) The next day, “would you please bless our wedding?” Sarah’s dad requested of Pastor James on the phone. “I would gladly perform the ceremony” the pastor accepted. “Thank you” Kirk answered. “I would like to have a few meetings with you before then” the pastor notified him. “Sure, let us know when” Kirk replied. “I will, take care for now” Pastor James ended the call. “We will meet with Pastor James soon” Kirk revealed. “Okay honey” Charlotte avouched. “When would you prefer we have the wedding?” Tom’s dad enquired. “As soon as we are ready” Tom’s mum replied. “Yes sweetheart, going to make some calls” he kissed the mum on her cheek.

Chapter 10

(Writer) This was the second week after Sarah turned 15 and only Sarah and Tom were at home.

(Me) My mum and dad have started preparing for their wedding. The preparation included getting the dresses, suits, and the venue sorted. After deciding on the cooks, the menu was among what had to be done. Finally, the reception hall had to be hunted and not ceremony as we would do it in Church. The bridal car had to be booked next. I told my mum I wish I could help and she told me I am because I was going to be a bridesmaid with Joy, Jay and Krista. My mum’s sister was going to be the maid of honour. Pastor James’ daughter Rosina will be the flower girl. Tom would be the page boy, but I didn’t really need to tell you that.

Chapter 11

3 months later- This day is no longer a fantasy or a long awaited dream, it’s happening. My mum and dad are getting remarried. 50 other people will be there to share in my joy. My dad has left for the Church while, me, Jay, Joy, Krista and my mum are dressing up. The bridesmaids are wearing a pink, short dress and white high heels. The maid of honour is wearing a peach dress and the bride is wearing a stunningly gorgeous white wedding dress. Next, we did each other’s make-up since we had styles in mind for one another.

20 minutes closer to the 2nd happiest day of my life. Jay, Joy and I are holding our bouquets while Krista and my auntie are holding the end of my mother’s dress. “I am so nervous” my mum stated. “Don’t be mum, it will be great” I discouraged the nerves. When we sat in the car, the driver slowly drove off the driveway and my mum looked at her ring. It looked like she was in deep thought. I know it wasn’t to do with reconsidering because they love each other.

1pm (Writer) Here comes the bride starts to play. Bridesmaids come first and the bride is followed by the maid of honour holding the end of the dress. Here comes the bride stopped playing when the bride appeared beside Kirk. “Dearly beloved we are gathered today to join this man and this woman again in holy matrimony. Can we bow our heads for a short prayer. Dear God, your son and daughter have come together in front of your people to declare their love for each other. You have brought them together in line with your good will so we ask that you bless and favour their marriage in Jesus’ name. Amen” Pastor James prayed for the couple with the Church. “Amen” the Church agreed. “Charlotte and Kirk, this is the day that you have picked to declare your reunion and it must not be taken lightly. You must vow from this day forward, you will let all that has happened in your past remain there. You will use your experiences together to help your relationship to mature. You are making an everlasting commitment, do you promise to keep this vow?” Pastor James asked the two adults. “Yes” they state at the same time. “Charlotte repeat after me. I Charlotte Kim Smith pledge to Kirk Anderson Smith” Charlotte repeated. “To love you more than before, to enjoy the new life ahead of us and obey God’s commandments on how to be a faithful wife” Charlotte promised Kirk before the witnesses. “I will never forget to tell you that I love you or the children when things go wrong” for the third time the former Miss Haynes echoed Pastor James’ words. “I will comfort our children and make sure I’ll do all I can to build them up for the future. I will always turn to you when it comes to matters about our children” Sarah’s mum declared with her might. Kirk also made the vow and after “the bride and groom have prepared their own vows” Pastor James gave the floor to them.

“Kirk, I thought I could live without you and look after the kids by myself. But when you came back into our lives I saw something in you that I had in me. You have a strong love and care for our children. That made me think about you constantly and I wished everyday you would come back. Now that you’re back I love you more than you could ever dream. You are so handsome and charming and I don’t regret for a second, agreeing to marry you again” Charlotte shared her innermost feelings with the Church and Kirk smiled. “Charlotte, my sweetheart you have touched my life for two major reasons. One because you gently and lovingly led me to Christ and two for just being you, passionate, calm, tender and sweet. I promise never again to make you feel you are anything less than a good mother. I see in you what I long to become. Having the title Christian is not as important as who you are on the inside. I know I could not have found anyone better” Kirk held on to her hand tightly. “Wow! Charlotte if you didn’t get that, it’s recorded” the guests let out a little laugh. “Kirk, do you vow to see through all you pronounced today, not 5 years or 10 years but as long as you shall live?” Pastor James was light-hearted. “Yes” Kirk responded. “You sure?” The pastor asked. “Yes” Kirk didn’t change his answer. “Charlotte, do you promise to commit to the words you promised today for as long as you shall live?” Pastor James paused. “Yes” the bride said in a soft voice. “Sorry?” The pastor teased the bride. “Yes” Charlotte spoke louder. “Kirk, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife again, to love and comfort her, in sickness and in health and in wealth or poverty, till death parts you?” Pastor James required. “I do” Kirk made a statement. “Charlotte, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and comfort him in sickness and health in and wealth or poverty?” Charlotte was inquired. ”I do” Charlotte vowed firmly. “Can I have the rings please?” Tom gave the rings to the pastor. “Charlotte, put this ring passionately on Kirk’s finger and say I give this ring in token and pledge of my constant faith and abiding love. With this ring I thee wed” Pastor James instructed and Charlotte obeyed. “Mr Charming as you place the ring on your bride’s finger say I give this ring in token and pledge of my constant faith and abiding love. With this ring I thee wed” Kirk smiled as he repeated the final statement and slid the ring on her finger. “With the power vested in me I pronounce you husband and wife again. Kiss your bride Kirk“ the bride and groom shared a kiss and there was an applause. The bridal party walked down the aisle. “Please let us all meet at the reception hall” Pastor James reported to the congregation.

“Congratulations, mum and dad” Sarah hugged her parents. “Thank you lovely” Charlotte thanked her daughter. “Daddy” Tom alleged. “Yes son what can I do for you?” Kirk bent down to face his son. “Nothing, I just want to say you’re my daddy again” Tom was cheerful. “Yes I am” Kirk laughed. The photographer took photos of the bride and then the bridal party. After, Sarah was photographed with her mum doing different poses.

With 30 minutes apportioned to camera shots, the bridesmaids and page boy went in one car. The bride, groom and maid of honour went in the car behind and the drivers drove to the reception hall. The reception lasted 4 hours after the bridal party arrived at the venue.

(Me) It was almost 9pm when the drivers started to take us home. My parents followed us since they were not ready to go on their honeymoon. Unfortunately that is it for another adventure but not my journey. I’m not leaving for good but I’m running to where you have to find me see ya!
